Installation

This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side interior trim panels in your rear cargo area.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way connector will be stowed in an out-of-the-way location within your cargo area.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

Tail Light Converter with Surface-Mount Technology

A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of the trailer. This converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

Curt builds each tail light converter using surface-mount technology (SMT). This method of construction involves soldering electronic components directly to the surface of a printed circuit board. SMT eliminates the need for leads, which are used in older through-hole technology. The result is a circuit board that is smaller yet provides more routing area and that offers superior performance, reliability and durability.

Curt SMT Circuit Boards

Circuit boards constructed using SMT have been shown to perform better under rough conditions with excessive vibration than those made using the through-hole method. And where would vibration be more likely to occur than in towing applications? Curt converters also produce less heat, leading to increased durability and longer life. In addition, lower levels of resistance ensure better performance, especially for parts that operate at higher frequencies.

Each Curt circuit board is made using high-quality components that are pieced together in the most technologically savvy fashion, leading to greater predictability and reliability in functioning.

I hooked up this harness as the plugs were correct and found I had no turn signals. Luckily I am a mechanic and was able to identify the correct terminals and repin the connectors so it would work.

It is very unusual for that to have happened. This would be covered under the warranty for the harness.

The wire harness works well, however I did just replace it after the same harness stopped working after it was on my car for three years.

Suzuki Grand Vitara

Product arrived in a few days, bought the Curt hitch, like the idea of three bolts each side versus two. Super easy install on my Vitara, removed tow hook, cleaned bolt holes, chassis was already clean, lifted in place with buddy, some blue loctite and a torch wrench. Beer-thirty was started
Super happy, no trimming of rear bumper. Wa-la!
Prefect fit for my Kuat Pivot and NV 2.0

by:

Good fit. Spot-on plug mating. The wire runs button up clean with enough length that you're not fighting the job. Thanks to whoever did their homework on this.

by:

Very quick delivery. Seemed to be fairly well packaged. One concern, the driver's side flange that attaches to frame is slightly bent - hopefully intended for a proper fit and hopefully not damaged during shipment. I'll know when I install. I really like Curt hitches and found the best price at etrailer.com.

Just installed on my 2007 SX4. All went as was explained in instructions and was an easy install. The 4 push pins in the floor that hold the side panels in broke when I removed them. They were 7 years old and brittle so no reflection on the product. It would have been nice if 4 new ones were included in the kit. Overall I am pleased with the product and e trailer.

Unfortunately the trailer hitch lasted longer than the car I installed it on. The hitch worked well for the time I used it.

by:
2010 Suzuki SX4

The wire harness sent was not the right one for my car, but we made it work. This was not really your fault. In 2010, Suzuki was getting ready to leave the US market and there were about 4 different models of the SX-4 all of which looked the same. The trailer hitch itself was OK.

Easy to install and 'cut' a lot of corners by not needing to splice wires, no pun intended! Works great for my utility trailer lights for my Suzuki Grand Vitara V6, as storage in the vehicle is not always adequate.

2007 Suzuki Grand Vitara

Receiver and wiring installed well, instructions clear. Paint on receiver chipped, did not fair well in shipping box. When installing ball mount I can see it's not level with the ground, just a little. I'm happy with receiver, just can not give a excellent review.

Surprised to see the personal attention E-trailer gave to my order. Several e-mails to ensure that I was satisfied completely. Product is as implied and works great. I contacted tech support and immediately answered my question and the wiring was completed. Have used e-trailer several times and this is the reason why...Their attention to detail. Great to do business with.

  • What Hitch will Fit 2006-2008 Suzuki Grand Vitara
Part # 75118 will not fit your 2006-2008 Suzuki Grand Vitara. I would recommend the Curt Class III Receiver Hitch, part # C13001. If you needing a wiring harness for trailer lighting, we offer the Curt Vehicle Wiring Harness, part # 56002. I will provide links to the install instructions for both the hitch and the wiring harness.

  • Left Tail Light on Trailer Goes Out when Running Lights are Turned On, 2011 Suzuki Grand Vitara
The first thing I would check is the ground on the converter. Make sure it is attached to a clean bare metal surface on the vehicle. A bad ground can cause all sorts of problems and the problem is likely to show up once more power is applied to the system; in this case turning on the running lights. Another possible cause is too much amperage draw from the lights on the trailer. A trailer than has a lot of lights on it could overload the converter causing it to malfunction. You would need...

Fascia trimming is only required on Grand Vitara models that have the spare tire under the vehicle, not on the rear hatch. If you were planning on using the hitch for towing purposes, you might need the following to complete your towing system: Ball Mount, part # D-4 Hitch Pin and Clip, # PC3 Trailer Wiring Harness, part # 56002 2...

It sounds like you are looking for a 7-way trailer connector for your 2012 Suzuki Grand Vitara. You will first want to start with a 4-way if you don't have one. For that you would want the Curt Wiring Harness # 56002 you were referring to. Now to convert it to a 7-way you will want the # 37185 if you don't have trailer brakes. Or part # ETBC7 plus a brake controller if you do have trailer brakes. This product comes with everything needed to convert the 4-way to a 7-way and install a brake...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch for Class I or Class II Ball Mount on 2008 Suzuki SX4
Class I compatible ball mounts, such as the Draw-Tite # 3593, will typically have a shorter hitch pin hole measurement to the end of the shank. This allows it to be used on Class I trailer hitch receivers that have the stopper inside the receiver that can prevent higher-class accessories from fitting. There is not a standard measurement that will indicate whether you have a Class I or Class II ball mount, but if you are able to tell me the manufacturer/brand of your existing unit, I will...

  • Does this Hitch Fit a 2011 Suzuki SX4?
Yes, it will so long as you have the hatchback model. The Draw-Tite Hitch item # 24817 is confirmed to fit the 2011 Suzuki SX4 hatchback. It looks like the crossover model is consider a hatchback. If your Suzuki is a sedan you would need the Curt Hitch item # C11446. If you are planning on towing you will also need a wiring harness item # 56002 and the Draw-Tite Drawbar item # 3593 and then for hitch balls item # 19258 for a 2 inch ball or item # 19256 for a 1-7/8 inch ball.

To add a 4-way to power your trailer's lights you'll need the T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # 56002.
