Trailer Hitch and Related Components for 2006 Suzuki Grand Vitara
Question:
Ordering the trailer hitch for my 2006 Suzuki Grand Vitara. On the ball mount it is asking which pin I want...what is recommended. Is this for security reasons? So at the least I would want a padlock one?

The Curt trailer hitch you referenced, 2-Inch Class III hitch # C13001, is indeed a correct fit for your 2006 Suzuki Grand Vitara. I have linked at right the written installation instructions as well as two helpful articles concerning hitch installation. This hitch bolts on using included hardware and requires no drilling. Tow hooks, if present, will need to be removed.
If you wish to lock your ball mount to help prevent theft, you can add # e98880.
You want to select a ball mount that will allow your trailer to remain level when it is hitched to the Grand Vitara. You can use the recommended ball mount # AMSC2, which provides 3/4-inches of rise or 2-inches of drop depending on how it is oriented, if that suits the heights of your vehicle and trailer. Or if you need more rise or drop you can use the link provided to choose a compatible 2-inch Class III ball mount. For a convenient all-in-one option we offer the etrailer ball mount kit # 989900 which includes 2 ball mounts, 2 hitch balls and a pin with clip. The linked article on ball mounts will help you select the correct one.
For a trailer wiring harness you can use the easy-to-install plug-in harness # 56002 from Curt. This simply plugs in at your Vitara's taillight assemblies and requires no cutting or splicing of wires.
Last, I've included a link to a helpful article with towing basics.
