Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at the Demco 10" Left Hand and Right Hand Galvanized Hydraulic Drum Brake Assemblies for 3,500 pound axles. Now these are galvanized marine grade hydraulic drum brake assemblies, great for boat trailers, and they are designed for use with surge type trailer brake actuators. They offer sturdy, corrosion resistant steel construction. As we've mentioned, they have the galvanized backing plate, does use the stainless steel spring hardware and in a zinc plated wheel cylinder. So all those features help when it's used in a marine application.
Now this is a single servo design, and what we mean by that is if you notice on the wheel cylinder, there's only one plunger here and that applies pressure to one shoe so it delivers less braking when you go into reverse, only does give you about 15 to 20% braking, and that'll help when you're backing up your trailer 'cause it won't apply the brakes all the way. They do use riveted brake shoes, which will provide increased durability, and they are manual adjustment brakes, so they will require a manual adjustment down here on the adjustment wheel. When your brakes start wearing down, you just have to adjust them out a little bit to get better braking. Now the mounting flange bolt pattern, if you see it's four holes, four on four inch pattern, it's designed to mount to a four bolt brake flange. Now the mounting bolts to install this is not included.
These parts are made in the USA. A few specs again, these are rated for axles up to 3,500 pounds. The configuration, here's your left hand driver's side, right hand passenger side, and if you wanna know how to tell the difference, which direction they go on, of course, when you get a new assembly, they'll have a sticker on 'em. They'll usually say right or left. In this case, you can see it has an L for left, but if the sticker wasn't there, the easiest way to tell is you'll look at the length of the pad that's on the shoe.
So the pad on this right shoe goes from here to here. This one all the way from here to here, that's a longer pad, shorter pad, the shorter pad is your primary shoe, and the primary shoe always faces the front of the trailer. So that's gonna go this way. So that's telling you that this is a left hand side. And the same one, this one, here's the shorter shoe, here's the longer shoe, points towards the front, so it tells you that's the right hand passenger side assembly.
Dimensions, we call these a 10" by 2-1/4" and what those dimensions mean, the 10 is the diameter. If we measure the diameter of the brake shoes one into the other, measure 10" and then the 2-1/4" is the width on the pad itself. Measure 2-1/4" measurement. Now this does accept wheel sizes from 14" up to 15". But that's gonna do it for the review on the Demco 10" Left Hand, Right Hand Galvanized Hydraulic Brake Assemblies for 3,500 pound axles.

Delivered with left side plunger clevis laying g in bottom of box, had to reassemble. Missing grease seals I ordered but etrailer was good about it and sent me another pair. Things happen and I still recommend them.
I ordered the wrong set of brakes for my trailer and etrailer exchanged them without any issue. The second set fit my boat trailer perfectly and has worked great for the year.
I was very pleased.
A little mixup in the order but etrailer customer service was all over it and made things right. Parts were of good quality. I will use etrailer again.
As advertised
Direct fit. Easy installation. Works as advertised.
Perfect replacement on my 3500lb axle boat trailer, 1996 Trailrite. Brakes bolted right up. Galvanized finish was complete, and well done. These assemblies appear as if they will last for many many years over the original factory brakes. Outstanding price point. Wanted to go to electric disk, however I'm very happy with these replacement brakes, and for the price and stopping power I'm very happy. I highly recommend. Shipping time was rapid, and FREE. With the help of a friend, replacing these brakes, actuator, and bleeding the system was about 3 hours work. Well worth it!
Installed on our boat trailer, fit was excellent and worked great last year. Have yet to tow the boat but will shortly and expect the same great operation, I wish they were self adjusting but plan on making any adjustments prior to vacation. Great service as always from etrailer.
One year later and the brakes are still working great.
as advertised fair price good product
I needed brakes shoes, bearings, seals, piston and drums i.e. a complete rebuild on my boat trailer. I called etrailer to place the order. I was lucky enough to get Stacy to assist in getting everything I needed. Stacy was not only very knowledgeable but also enjoyable to work with. She was also patient with me as I had to put her on hold to get more information that I forgot to get before the call. She double checked all my needed items before placing the order.. She even took a minute for some small talk as we waited for the order to log. I've not had customer service like this in quite some time. After the order was placed, i realized that I made another measurement error and had to change the order.
I called Stacy back and she updated the order and made the correction on the amount I owed... I actually saved a few bucks.
Once again etrailer has customer service like no other online company I've done business with.
Great job Stacy...
