Video Transcript for TorkLift Wiring Harness Extensions For SuperTruss Hitch Extenders Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Torque lift line of wiring harness extensions for use with the super truck hitch extenders. These are available in several different lengths. Just depending on how long that hitch extender that you're using is going to be. This is Torque's Lifts 36" extension that matches their 36" super stress. If you're going with the longer super truss, get the longer. If you're going with the shorter, get the shorter. Really a nice option to where you can plug it right into the back of your vehicle, bring your power down to where it's right here, readily available and accessible for you to get to. What we're going to do is take our, what looks like a trailer plug end, we're going to pass it through our bracket.

It's just flexible enough we can kind of bend that bracket so allow it to come through. Then here's what we want, that's our 7 pole connector. We're going to be bale to hook our trailer up right here. We've got the nice safety chain connections there an then also our wiring connection. Slide that in.

We're pass our screw through the face there and then just put our nuts on the back. Now, the hardware's not provided so you'll need some hardware to pass through there. You can see our bracket's kind of got the oblong holes to make it to where it'll fit a lot of different style harnesses. I'm going to put a flat washer on to give our nut a good surface to bite to when we tighten it down. Now we can go ahead and tighten those down as well. At that point, we're mounted on, got a nice secure connection point.

We can basically just plug this right into the back of our truck. You don't want this to be hanging down underneath our hitch where it might drag or something like that. That will complete today's look at the Torque Lift wiring harness extensions for the super truck hitch extender.

Way over priced for a non-weather proof extension. This extension would be exposed to water intrusion when installed. The wires into receptacle/plug ends are open for water seepage. This product appears assembled from off-the-shelf items, not molded for weatherproof integrity. This inferior design is not evident in the site photos of the product. And the price - twice as much as alternatives I have discovered since purchase. See the attached photos for the missing detail. I would likely return if I could and just assemble my own at a lower price. This item is not what I expect from eTrailer.

My travel trailer cord was not adequately reaching my Expedition plug. Had already been pulled out when making a left turn. This extension worked great! Nice and secure fitting. Wrapped the excess once around the tongue jack for a better fit.

Its been a year and the extension cord still works great! Stays secure and gives enough room for turning.

My wiring harness works great. Best of all Etrailer ad my sales person was wonderful and understood exactly what I needed. I spent 3 hours on the phone and internet trying to find what I needed and none of them had a clue. This company truly has the most knowledgeable staff by far. I will not use anyone else from this point forward.

This harness extension has served well in extending my connection to a more handy spot one my motorcycle rack on the back of my motorhome. Zero complaints. Quick delivery and reasonable price from etrailer too!

Bought with 21" hitch extension for torklift super hitch. Appears to be good quality and will test out soon

by:

Towed the camped from NY to California and back and this worked perfectly with a hitch extension

by:

I used this product as an extension to my existing harness because our new truck's plug in is located in a different place than the previous one and the chord would disconnect when turning. Not the intended purpose for this product but it works just fine.

Perfect fit with my 21” hitch extension. Easy to install and hook up to the trailer.

  • How to Pick Out 7-Way Extension When Using Curt Hitch Extender C45048
When using the Curt hitch extension part # C45048 that you referenced at the 34 inch length to pick the correct Torklift 7-way extension really depends on the length of the 7-way harness on your trailer. If it's one that would be pulled tight if it was extended at all past the coupler then I'd recommend going with the longer version part # TLW6036. If your trailer has a connector that has more than enough length you'd want the shorter version part # TLW6028. Basically you want to make...

  • What Trailer Wiring Connectors are Often Found on Rental Trailers
A 7-way trailer wiring harness is a very commonly used trailer connector that most trailers are designed to work with. The only other common wiring connector that you might encounter would be a 4-way. Which all you would need then to convert your 7-way to a 4-way would be the # PK12716. With the # PK12716 you would have the ability to tow a trailer with either a 7-way or a 4-way which would cover basically any trailer you would be able to rent.

As long as nothing is plugged into the other end of the extension you will not receive the error messages you describe. A solution for you available in a variety of lengths but this is the shortest, is the TorkLift Wiring Harness Extension for 21" SuperTruss Hitch Extender # TLW6021. • Camper Tie-Downs For a 2016 Nissan Frontier Crew Cab With Factory Receiver
The only camper tie downs we have for your 2016 Nissan Frontier Crew Cab with the 5' bed and factory hitch is the TorkLift Rear # TLN3403. These use existing mounting holes to mount and will not require any drilling for installation. The TorkLift Locking FastGun Turnbuckles # TLS9529 are the turnbuckles I recommend. These are made of stainless steel and have a black finish for securing your slide in camper to your Frontier. The Curt 18" Extender # C45796 is our longest hitch extension...

  • Can Power Cable on Nighthawk Tow Bar be Run on Opposite Side of Tow Bar
I was talking to our shop manager about this and you can't really move the wiring harness on the Nighthawk tow bar # RM-676 from one side to the other. It is unlikely to be a problem in terms of length because the coiled cable does stretch. Another option is to use a small extension such as # TLW6021 which is 24 inches long. Part of the issue is that the LED lights run off of the running light wire in that harness and there isn't a way to access it. At least not easily.

  • Troubleshooting TorkLift Wiring Harness Extension Not Working After Heavy Rain
Since everything on the truck and trailer worked perfectly when removing the TorkLift Wiring Harness Extension # TLW6021, the issue certainly appears to be within the extension itself. I recommend checking the connector and plug for any dirt or debris that you can see between and inside the pins, simply cleaning out as needed. Debris build up within the connector can lead to shorts can cause the type of issue you experienced on your last trip. There might also be some internal corrosion...

  • Availability of 7-Way Extension for Trailer Towed By 2015 Toyota 4Runner
The most cost effective solution to the problem you're experiencing would be to use the Draw-Tite 7-way loop, part # 20027. There is a 24 inch option, part # TLW6021, but it costs twice as much. I'd use the longer 20027 and simply zip tie up the excess wire so it's out of the way. The relocated 7-way could be attached to the trailer hitch using a # C57202 no drill bracket along with a # PK12711U trailer connector bracket. Another option would involve installing a longer trailer connector...

  • Recommended SuperTruss And TorkLift SuperHitch on 2016 Chevy 2500
There is really only one solution I recommend that will work for your desire to pull a trailer with the tailgate down. I recommend removing your Class V hitch and replacing it with the TorkLift SuperHitch # TLC1211. This would need to be used with a factory hitch and the TorkLift SuperTruss Hitch Extension for SuperHitch Trailer Hitch Receivers - 36" Long # TLE1536 to clear your tailgate. There are wiring extensions available as well like the 36 inch # TLW6036. There are different SuperTruss...

These two items are compatible with each other. For a trailer wiring extension if you need a 7-way type you can use TorkLift 21-inch # TLW6021, 36-inch # TLW6036, 42-inch # TLW6042, 48-inch # TLW6048, 60-inch # TLW6060 or for a 10-foot length part # TLW6510. • Does Torklift 7-Way Extension Require Mounting Bracket on Hitch Extender
For a 7-way extension to go with the Curt Extender part # C45796 the part # TLW6021 would be the best option. The bracket part # C58000 would be your best option as it will hold the 7-way socket which can be hard to keep off the ground but if you wanted to wrap the harness around the extender to keep it off the ground that is an option as well.

Yes, you can use the Equal-i-zer Weight Dist Shank item # EQ90-02-4600 with a reducer. You would just need the item # 325-GH-007. This will only extend your hitch 18" though. If that isn't far enough to clear your tailgate I recommend using the Curt Hitch Extension and Reducer for 2-1/2" item # C45048. This will give you 24"-34" of extra space but will limit your capacity to 6,000 lbs. You will also need the TorkLift Wiring Harness Extension item # TLW6021 to extend your 7-way the extra...

You will need to loosen the screw that pinches down on the wire to hold it in place. Then you will be able to remove the screws located near the mount plate to gain access to the wiring. I have another option for you, but the Trailer Connector Adapter w/ Lamp-Out Sensor Bypass - 7-Way RV to 7-Way RV - Vehicle End # 20142 has built in resistors for vehicles with a lamp-out error and and since the lights are working properly when plugged in to your 2018 Toyota 4Runner, you do not want the increased resistance in the wiring. • Recommended 7-Way Extension to Prevent Connection with Trailer from Unplugging During Turns
It sounds like you just need a bit of extension for the 7-Way on your truck. I recommend taking a look at the TorkLift Wiring Harness Extension # TLW6021. This will plug right into the 7-Way on your truck and provide you with a 21 inch extension and an RV/trailer style 7-Way at the other end. This may be a bit longer than what you are needing, but it is the shortest such extension we currently have available. I have attached a video demonstration on this harness that you can also check out.
