Hitch Extension, TorkLift SuperHitch Magnum, Camper Tie Downs, and Air Bags for a 2015 Ford F-250

Question:

Hello, I have a 2015 F-250 Diesel with 6, 3/4 ft bed. Looking to purchase a LANCE 865 8foot 7 truck bed camper. I also need to transport my 3,500lb Mustang. I am looking at buying a 20foot Enclosed trailer. The F-250 has LT305/65/18 BFG T/A KO2 Tires. So it should be able to take all the weight. I imagine ill probably need Airbags to assist with the weight I also imagine i will need the hitch extension depending on the camper. What all else would i need with this hitch to make it all work? Any concerns?

Since the bed on your 2015 Ford F-250 is 6-3/4 feet and the camper is 8 feet, 7 inches you are correct about needing an extension. Otherwise it is possible for the truck to make contact with the trailer when turning.

There are several extensions that will word with the TorkLift SuperHitch Magnum Trailer Hitch # TLF1002-30 which does use a specific extension. I recommend the 21 inch long SuperTruss # TLE1521 because it combined with a ball mount will give you enough extension. You also may or may not have to extend out the trailer connector. If you do then you can use # TLW6021.

If you are also looking into custom fit camper tie downs for the truck then you can use # TLF2012 for the front and # TLR3504 for the rear (the rears are compatible with the SuperHitch Magnum). And for turnbuckles we have # TLS9526-2-LK for polished stainless, # TLS9529-2-LK for black stainless, and # TLS9522-2-LK for gray stainless.

Adding suspension enhancement is a good idea with a camper in the truck bed. Air bags are great because you can adjust them for the best ride quality and height adjustment after the camper weighs down the stock suspension. Since your truck has the diesel motor you can use Firestone Ride-Rite air bags # F2597. Short Bed Diesel F-250's have an exhaust sensor located on the passenger side frame rail where the upper bracket mounts for this kit. In these instances, relocation bracket # F5722 is required; sold separately.

If you want to add an onboard compressor system as well I recommend # F2158 which is a basic system. It adjusts the air pressure to both bags evenly and at the same time which is ideal for a constant load like an in-bed camper.
