Video Transcript for Redline Trailer Spindles RG05-100 Review

Speaker 1: Today we're gonna take a look at the spindle nut kit for E-Z Lube Axles. Now, this part will replace the spindle nut, the D washer, and the nut retainer on your E-Z Lube Axles with this complete kit. This is designed for one inch spindles that have 14 threads per inch thread pitch. This kit is designed for E-Z Lube Axles, because an E-Z Lube Axle does not allow the use of a Cotter pin to retain the nut on the spindle. It has to use the nut retainer to work on an E-Z Lube Axle. This part will include everything shown here, the two spindle nuts, the two D washers, and the two nut retainers.

So, when you go to install these on the spindle you'll first put your D washer on, then you'll screw your nut on, and then clamp on your nut retainer to hold it into place. That should do it for the review on the spindle nut kit for the E-Z Lube Axles.

I probably could have reused the original parts and saved some money, but it is great to have totally new Hub Assys (and retention fasteners) on my trailer.

by:

Exactly what I needed. These are hard to find.

by:

worked great

by:

As an unskilled person looking for parts for our trailer, we could not find them locally or even online, I called etrailer and spoke with Jesse M. He was extremely professional, courteous and knowledgeable. He was able to locate the parts I described almost immediately and took my order for the parts and they were exactly what we needed. I would highly recommend etrailer and especially Jesse M. to anyone needing trailer parts.
Thank you, Donna

by:

A special shout out to SHAWNEE! Thank you so much for helping with this order and getting it in the mail on time.

by:

Installed with a new bearing set to replace the old ones. For the few extra dollars more than just the retainers cost you can get the whole kit.

by:

I am in the process of inspecting and repacking the wheel bearings on a pair of Dexter 7K easylube axles. I bought a set of these to have as spares for the project. I received the Dexter axle washer, nut and retainer in a timely manner. The nut and retainer are nearly indistinguishable (to me) from the original Dexter parts. The Washer ID and thickness is the same as the original Dexter part, but the OD is slightly smaller but that doesn't appear to be a problem to me.

AAAAA+++++

Called on a Monday morning to inquire if items I needed were in stock. Sales agent very helpful and polite, offered to take order then for quicker processing. Placed order for 2 new trailer tires w/rims and tang washer kit (hard to find) for my older trailer which doesn't have the cotter pin setup.

Standard delivery was free with my order, and I upgraded to 3-5 day express for a few bucks more to insure I could install by weekend.

All parts arrived in Jacksonville FL on Thursday afternoon, so I could install on the weekend. Tracked shipment all along the way.

All in all, products were as expected and very reasonably priced, service was great, delivery was on time.

Will use eTrailer again!

I was servicing the bearings on my RV trailer and damaged one of the locking plates. I was unable to find this style lock nut and plate anywhere locally. I tried parts stores, RV dealerships and another source that deals in specialized automotive and trailer repairs. I had to settle for the castle nut with the bend in tab. I should have done a goggle search but I need to get on the road. A quick search and there is the item I need. Great Price and now I have a couple of spares for the next time I service the bearings.

by:

I've have been rebuilding a flat bed trailer, that I use for hauling rat rods and potential rat rods, and everything I have ordered from etrailer has been great. Fast shipping, excellent job on keeping me updated on tracking information. They also have great videos on how to information. Very pleased with this company, and how they operate. When I need something for my trailer, I don't look anywhere else, I just go straight to these guys, and know they will have just what I need. Thank you very much!!!!

by:

Perfect fit for my trailer to replace a castle nut and retaining washer that was gacked on one side. No issues installing, so far so good! Overall looked like quality pieces that give you peace of mind towing. The old retaining washer got messed up by the previous owner or whoever serviced the axles last and was actually allowing the castle nut to back off the axle. This new piece looks much more secure than the old style.

by:

I am very pleased with the speed of the delivery and the exact replacement parts I needed. They are a perfect fit for my 10 year old boat trailer.
The ease of finding parts on the website that I needed to repair my hubs was extremely important to me as we are still very active with our boat . Without the parts we were stuck on dry land. Not a good way to end the year. But etrailer.com came to the rescue and we were back on the water.
Thank you for all your help....

by:

No pictures because all you would see is a nut, retainer and a ball of grease.

In short, I couldn’t find what I needed (the retaining ring) anywhere locally. The internet and etrailer came to the rescue! Everything fit perfectly and my trailer is functional again.

The order was shipped promptly and, if needed, I will go to the etrailer sight first next time!!

by:

The replacement parts I needed at a price I could appreciate. Thanks etrailer.com

by:

Replaced brakes and drums on 3.5K Dexter EZ lube axles. The parts were exact change-out. Quality is as good or better than the originals.

by:

These were exactly what i needed. Price was good and it is a much better locking system then the ones that were on the axle to start with. I am a fan of a cotter pin and not the flat spot on the axle but you have to work with what you have. I love these guys the few times I have dealt with them is excellent.

by:

Received parts yesterday and everything arrived in excellent condition. Without etrailer's helpful guides it would have taken a lot longer to identify the correct Hub's and bearing's that I needed for my jet ski trailer. I always go to etrailer for my trailer needs!!!! I have a jet ski trailer, boat trailer, and 36.5 foot 5th wheel camper. So I'm always needing parts!!!

by:

Never used this type of spindle nut lock ring. Thought it went under nut it doesn't. so messed the first one up. Would be nice if there was a pic or info. on package for assy. (but really my bad). nothing on product or company. Worked awesome after I got stupid out of the way.

by:

This is the first time I have done business with e-trailer and let me say that their service and support is top notch. The actual human on the phone was most knowledgeable and knew exactly how to help me. All the parts I ordered arrived on time and were the exact ones I needed. After dealing with e-trailer, and experiencing their service, support, shipping and prices, there is no need to look anywhere else.

by:

This new design for the spindle lock nuts is far superior to the previous nuts that used a washer with a tab to lock the nut. I lost a wheel with a new tire I suspect due to the tab breaking off. I recommend this product to everyone who has the old design spindle nut.

by:

My trailer has the older design with the castle nut and flange washer. I bought these to keep as spares with my extra hub. However when the time comes to service my bearings again I will go with this style because I can tell these will be much easier to use than trying to bend a flange into the ridge of the castle nut.

by:

This setup is much more dependable than the castle nut with a locking washer. The cage around the spindle nut is locked in on the flat portion and then grabs the nut not allowing it to move. My axle doesn’t have a hole through it for a cotter pin, so this is my best option.

by:

These are awesome. Easy on and off and infinite adjustments. No more bending and breaking tabs.

by:

I have these on my enclosed trailer and they work well. No cotter pins of tabs to bend, these just snap on. I bought these for my boat trailer.

  • Is There Torque Rating for Installing Spindle Nut on Trailer Hub
When installing the castle nut on the end of the spindle, there is no specific torque rating. The nut is ran down until there is no side to side play in the hub, and then backed off to the next notch in the castle nut so the tang washer or cotter pin can secure the nut. Over-tightening the castle nut can damage the bearings, races and spindle. If you click on the video link I provided, and fast forward to the 4:45 minute mark, you can see the process if you like.

  • Do I Need to Have a Castle Nut or Cotter Pin to Keep Spindle Nut From Backing Off
If you only have the nut and a washer but no cotter pin or retaining type washer on the end then that isn't correct and you want to get a piece to help prevent that nut from backing off. If you have a setup like the Spindle Nut Kit for EZ Lube Axles # RG05-100 with the weird looking washer on the outside then that is okay because the weird washer is designed to help keep the nut in place. Let me know if you're needing something to secure it and I can help you with the correct part if you...

  • How To Determine The Correct Bearings, Races, Seals, For A 2007 Rolls Rite 24K Trailer
To determine the correct bearings, races, and seals for your 2007 Rolls Rite 24K trailer you will need to remove the wheel and hub from your trailer and use the part numbers off of the bearings, races, and seals that you have. There is not a listing for bearings on a particular trailer, because the trailer manufacturers are always changing brands of axles on the same trailers, which could use different size bearings, races, and seals. The washer and nut will depend on what size and type...

  • Replacement Spindle Nut Kit for 1999 Floe Pro Plus Snowmobile Trailer
I checked the Floe Trailer website for any available specs on their trailer's spindles but their site does not provide this information. • Install Video for Trailer Spindle Castle Nut
I believe I found the video you are referring to and have attached it below. You will want to fast forward to the 4:45 mark to see the spindle castle nut procedure. As you mentioned you will basically just want to tighten the nut until it stops by itself. You don't want to actually torque it down to any specific spec. I have attached a link that will also take you to our available selection of spindle castle nuts that you can look through if needed.

I was unable to find any specific information about your trailer to know anything about the axles that came on the trailer. • Correct EZ Lube Spindle nut and Washer Kit for my Trailer
Not having a cotter pin is not acceptable but because it is an EZ-Lube hub it should use the Spindle Nut Kit for EZ Lube Axles part # RG05-100. This has the tang retaining washer to keep the nut from backing off. As far as the grease zerk they are threaded. If yours are broken off you will need to drill them out carefully and tap the hole to match a grease zerk you want to use these are readily available at any parts store or you can use part # Gzerk.

  • Can Spindle Nut Be Reused When Installing Bearing Kit for #84 Spindle
Yes, if the retainer nut is in good shape you can use all of the other components of the Hub Bearing Kit for Lippert, Dexter, and Al-Ko Axles - 3,500 lb with #84 Spindle # BK2-100 and not worry about the tang washer and cotter pin. If the spindle nut isn't in good shape then you can replace those parts as well with the Spindle Nut Kit for EZ Lube Axles # RG05-100. Attached is an installation video of the bearing kit and a review video of the spindle nut kit for you to check out.

  • Recommended 1" Diameter Spindle Nut Kit
Yes, there should be a washer, nut, and keeper. To reattach your hub to your AL-KO axle you will want the Spindle Nut Kit for EZ Lube Axles item # RG05-100. • Dexter EZ Lube Bearing Kit Recommendation for 3500 lb EZ Lube Spindle that Includes Nut Retainers
The most cost effective way to get the nut retainers is to get the part # BK2-100 and then instead of using the cotter pins use the part # RG05-100 instead. • Spindle Nut Kit Recommendation for a Dexter 6k Axle
Since the D60 Dexter Axle uses a cotter pin and castle nut the # RG05-100 would not be the correct kit for you. For that I would recommend the Trailer Spindle Nut # 165686. For a compatible cotter pin I would recommend the Cotter Pin part # 165649. People use channel locks typically for installation and removal of these castle nuts since they don't really get torqued down and the length of the spindle prevents most standard sockets from being easily used.

  • Replacement Axle Nut for 3500 lb Boat Trailer Axles
We have what you need! For EZ-Lube axles which are very common on boat trailers you want to use the Spindle Nut Kit for EZ Lube Axles part # RG05-100. This will have two nuts, washers and keepers. For the non EZ-Lube axles use the Trailer Spindle Nut 1" part # 165686 and the Cotter Pin part # 165649. these are individual so you will want two of each to have all you need. You can confirm these will fit on your axles by measuring your spindle and ensuring that your it has 1" threads on it.

  • Picking Out Grease Caps for Trailer
The Spindle Nut Kit for EZ Lube Axles # RG05-100 is most likely what you need as this is a pretty standard spindle nut kit that fits the standard 1 inch diameter threads of a spindle. Now picking out a grease cap will be a bit more involved as there is a bit more variety in fits here. What I would recommend is using a caliper like # PTW80157 to verify exactly what size you need by measuring the bore where the cap installs and then check out the link I attached below to see all the caps...

  • Spindle Nut Recommendation for a 3,500 lb Axle
Since you have a 3,500 lb axle most likely the diameter of the threaded portion of the spindle is 1 inch. You will need to verify that. And since the spindle has a hole in it for a cotter pin you would need a castle nut. For that I would recommend the Trailer Spindle Nut # 165686. For a compatible cotter pin I would recommend the Cotter Pin part # 165649. The Spindle Nut Kit # RG05-100 that you referenced is for a different style spindle so I would not recommend it for you.
