How to Measure the Bolt Pattern to Make Sure the Correct Drum is Ordered?

Question:

I measured the rim to find the distance from bolt holes, I have 5 bolts, measured across it is closer to 4 3/4 than 5 inches. But then I measured bot to bolt and I am just short of 3 inches seems closer to 2 7/8 . I dont see any kits for a 5 by 4 3/4 so I guess it must be a 5 by 5.

As you are getting a measurement that is slightly off, I am going to suggest one more way to confirm your bolt pattern. Attached is a link to a printable diagram that will confirm which you have. Make sure you print at 100% on 8.5x11" paper.

We do have a drum kit that matches the Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly for 3,500-lb E-Z Lube Axles - 10" Diameter - 5 on 5 # 84556UC3-EZ, but has a 5 on 4 3/4 bolt pattern ( # 845476UC3-EZ ), so I highly suggest using the printable diagram to double check.
