This unique adjustable ball mount from Gen-Y Hitch has a vertical shank that is made up of 5 stacked 2-1/2" receivers. This lets you easily adjust the height of the included ball mount, or any other accessory you choose to use. This mount also has built-in shock absorption to ensure a safe, smooth towing experience. Using technology similar to that found in torsion trailer axles, the Gen-Y mount absorbs road shock, isolating any rough jarring or chucking at the connection point. This prevents the rough motion from transferring from the vehicle to the trailer and vice versa.

Built-In Shock Absorption for a Smooth Ride

Driving over bumps, potholes, and uneven terrain causes road shock, which can result in a rough, bumpy ride and even potentially damage your vehicle or trailer. This Gen-Y Hitch torsion mount is designed to absorb road shock at the connection point to create a safe, smooth ride. This is thanks to the internal construction of the mount, which is similar to that of a torsion axle.

torsion w/cutaway

Pivot points are built into the Gen-Y mount. This allows for movement between the base, which slides into your vehicle's trailer hitch, and the stacked receivers, which provide the connection point for your trailer. When your trailer hits a bump, the stacked receiver portion of the mount will move up or down accordingly.

torsion diagram

Built into the Gen-Y mount are tubes with inner bars that are surrounded by rubber cords. As the receivers rise or fall, these inner bars twist inside of the tubes, attempting to follow the receivers' motion. But the rubber cords prevent the bars from twisting too far. And as each bar turns, these cords compress to absorb the shock. This means that any shock experienced by your truck can be absorbed before it reaches your trailer, and the shock experienced by your trailer won't get transferred to your truck.

This type of shock-absorption system is easy to maintain. Just regularly apply grease to the built-in zerk to keep the components in working condition. No airbags to fill. No small parts to repair or replace. No hassle.

Multiple Stacked Receivers for Easy Adjustment

stacked receivers

This unique mount from Gen-Y Hitch includes a ball mount that can be easily positioned in one of the 5 stacked receivers that sits along the vertical shank of the unit. This dual-ball mount lets you tow a trailer with a 2" ball coupler or a 2-5/16" ball coupler.

pintle hitch

Also included is a pintle lock, which can be inserted into the receiver directly above the ball mount to create a pintle hitch for hooking up a trailer with a lunette ring. Unlike other adjustable pintle hooks on the market, there are no nuts and bolts to remove and retorque when you change the positioning of this hitch. Just move the ball mount and pintle lock up or down to get the proper height and secure them in place with the included pins.

With the 5 stacked receivers, not only do you have the ability to adjust the height of the included ball mount, but you also have the ability to add various other hitch-mounted accessories.

Easily Check Your Tongue Weight

scale

This mount features a built-in mechanical tongue weight scale. The red section on the top of the scale indicates your maximum tongue weight (2,400 lbs). The red section on the bottom of the scale indicates no tongue weight (0 lbs). A tongue weight of at least 1,600 lbs is recommended for the built-in shock absorption to function effectively. This means that the scale's white indicator marker should be in the green section when you hook up your trailer to tow.

Video Transcript for Review of Gen-Y Hitch Trailer Hitch Ball Mount - Shock Absorbing Adjustable Ball Mount - 325-GH-1825

Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a quick look at this Gen-Y Torsion 2-Ball Mount with stacked receiver tubes. This is going to be a shock absorbing ball mount for you, so that you can get your trailer hooked up to your towed vehicle. This will slide right into your three-inch by three-inch trailer hitch receiver on your vehicle. You can see we've got a couple of different pinholes here. So, we've got a 5/8-inch diameter pinhole here that's about two and three-quarters of an inch back.

And then, our three-quarter inch pinhole is about four and a quarter of an inch back. So, depending on where your pinhole lines up on your hitch and what size pinhole you need will determine which one you use. You probably already have a pin for your hitch, they do not include one with this, but we do have lots of options available here at etrailer.com We also have locking pins if you want to add a little extra security and make sure that this is gonna stay on your truck when you're not around. So, that's going to be on our vehicle side once we have this connected onto our hitch, and then here at the back, we're going to have our ball mount. That's going to allow us to connect our trailer.

So, this gives us a two-inch ball, a two and 5/16-inch ball, and a pintle lock. So, whether your trailer has a two inch ball coupler or two and 5/16-inch ball coupler, or a lunette ring, this is going to allow you to tow that trailer. So, that gives us a lot of options there. If you're towing multiple different kinds of trailers with different couplers, and that will give you lots of variety in what kind of trailers you can tow. This is a solid heavy duty steel construction, so it is going to hold up really well for you.

If you're not familiar with Gen-Y, they do have a reputation for building very robust, solid products, and this is no exception. It's gonna hold up really well for you. It's also going to give us pretty high weight capacities. If you're using your two-inch ball, your gross towing weight capacity is gonna be 16,000 pounds. That, of course, is the weight of your trailer, plus your load included, and a maximum tongue weight of 1,500 pounds.

That's the amount of weight you can push down on it. So, you want to determine how you load your trailer to ensure that it's going to fit that max tongue weight. If you're using the two and 5/16-inch ball, you're going to have a gross towing weight of 21,000 pounds, and a maximum tongue weight of 2,400 pounds. Now with that ball, you do want to make sure that you're within that optimum ride tongue weight, which is between 1,600 pounds and 2,400 pounds. And the reason for that is because of our torsion shock absorbing system. If you have less than that 1,600 pounds, it's really not going to engage the system properly. So, you're gonna need at least that 1,600 pounds. And to help you with that, they do include the tongue weight scale here on the back side. You can see our red, green, and red stickers here. So, those stickers need to line up with that white painted line you can see there. And when you have your trailer loaded, everything hooked up, you want that white line to be matched up with that green portion of that sticker so that you know you're within that right tongue weight range to make sure that the system is going to properly engage. So, it's nice that they include that to give you a little indicator, make sure that everything's gonna be riding smoothly for you. As far as our shock absorbing technology goes, if you're not familiar with torsion systems, it's kind of like a torsion axle, if you know that any better. So, at each of our pivot points, we're going to have these square bars here and then on all of the sides, we've got rubber cords. So, as our unit pivots, it absorbs those, or, moves with that shock that you're getting, those rubber cords are going to help to minimize the shock that is transferred from your trailer up to your tow vehicle, and vice versa. So, it is going to do a great job of absorbing that shock to give you a more comfortable ride and to reduce the wear and tear on your equipment. We do have the five stacked receiver tubes here that are going to allow us to mount our ball mount and pintle lock in different heights to accommodate different trailers. So, wherever your trailer sits when it's level, the coupler height, you wanna make sure that you get the ball mounted where it's going to line up with that so that your trailer rides nice and level for you. Very simple process. You just remove the clip, slide out the pin, and then you can move that ball wherever you need it. And so, if we have it in the rise position like I have it here, the top side of our shank, to the ball platform, which is about where the coupler is gonna sit, is gonna give us a rise of about three inches. And so, if your coupler sits three inches higher than the top inside edge of your hitch receiver and that will work for you. And then, if we have it in the lowest position, the drop position down there, which I can't get in place because the table, our maximum drop is going to be nine inches. So, if your coupler, when your trailer is sitting level, if your coupler is nine inches below the top inside edge of your receiver tube, that will work for you. And then of course, we have lots of adjustment range in between there. So again, that's going to allow us to tow several different trailers, be very easy to adjust from one trailer to another, to make sure that they're gonna be riding level for us. And of course, these three-inch by three-inch receivers will not only accept our included ball mount and pintle lock, but your other hitch-mounted accessories as well. So, if you aren't gonna be towing, you wanna put on some other hitch-mount accessory, you can put that on there. You don't have to take the whole system out as well. So, in addition to our steel construction, this does have a zinc primer and powder coat finish to help resist corrosion. So, it'll last nice long time for you. Our ball mount and pintle lock have this matte black finish to them, so they look really nice, and again helps to resist rust and corrosion. This does meet the SAE J684 Standard, so it is J684 certified on the back of our pivot points, here. It's gonna be kind of hard for you to see, but there are grease zerks, so it is very simple to maintain and just put your grease gun on there and pump some grease in to keep that lubricated, so it's gonna pivot easily for you. This is made here in the U.S.A, so you can trust it's made to the high quality standards that we've come to know and trust for products that are made here in the U.S. And so, if you are looking for lots of adjustability, if you're gonna be towing different kinds of trailers with different attachments and ride heights, I think this is gonna do a really good job for you. So, hope this video has answered all your questions. If you do have any others, feel free to reach out to us here at etrailer.com. We're always happy to work with our customers to make sure you're getting all the information you need to make the best decision for you. That completes our look for today. Purchased the GH-1825 model for my 2022 F350.

My first impression, "This thing is a beast"!

The quality surpassed my expectations with off the chart marks. The quality is important to me because this purchase was an upgrade. I didn't want to waste my hard earned money. I did my research and landed with the GH-1825 model after weeks of internet video reviews and various websites. I also didn't want to have regrets and buy the other models and "wish" I would have gone bigger.

My plan is to use this Boss hitch to pull whatever I want and need; it's certainly well capable.

My old hitch was very limited in its capabilities, I certainly don't have that issue now.

Thank you GenY!

I won't repeat what's already been stated. Indeed, the last hitch you will purchase! It's a heavy beast - shipping weight was 138 pounds!

My load towing with this is actually a bit under-rated for the sweet-spot of this hitch, but I did not want to use a reducer on my 2019 F-450 to operate the lower-rated Gen-Y. It has definitely made a positive difference on rough terrain (especially off-road). In my case it is mainly to prevent the truck from roughing up the trailer with it's super-stiff nature. Of course this functions in either/any fashion.

This will absolutely cover anything you could ever possibly tow with a conventional style trailer. Anything heavier and you'd be looking at gooseneck (which they also make a torsion hitch for - which I am also strongly considering).

Not any fault of the hitch, but it will set off your reverse proximity sensors. No way around that with a hitch of this size.

I would suggest that it be mentioned that use of this hitch is probably going to require most users to extend their safety chains a good bit. I had 24inch chains with a standard hitch and they fit fine, but this Gen-Y required me to use 38inch chains minimum to not only make it to the receiver chain openings, but to also make it around the hitch itself!

Just thought that it might be helpful to others to know that. Luckily I had some longer Grade 70 chains already!

Overall, no complaints what so ever. I know what if someone happens to rear-end my truck they are going to get an engine block full of Gen-Y (sort of passive perk I say).

Best improvement I've made on this toterhome pulling 20K trailer. because of the way this 13'4" tall trailer used to porpoise hard on bad roads, loud banging shock loads on the hitch, I constantly feared structural failure. Now I don't hear or feel the trailer at all!!. Smooth.
