This unique adjustable ball mount from Gen-Y Hitch has a vertical shank that is made up of 6 stacked 2-1/2" receivers. This lets you easily adjust the height of the included ball mount, or any other accessory you choose to use. This mount also has built-in shock absorption to ensure a safe, smooth towing experience. Using technology similar to that found in torsion trailer axles, the Gen-Y mount absorbs road shock, isolating any rough jarring or chucking at the connection point. This prevents the rough motion from transferring from the vehicle to the trailer and vice versa.

Built-In Shock Absorption for a Smooth Ride

Driving over bumps, potholes, and uneven terrain causes road shock, which can result in a rough, bumpy ride and even potentially damage your vehicle or trailer. This Gen-Y Hitch torsion mount is designed to absorb road shock at the connection point to create a safe, smooth ride. This is thanks to the internal construction of the mount, which is similar to that of a torsion axle.

torsion w/cutaway

Pivot points are built into the Gen-Y mount. This allows for movement between the base, which slides into your vehicle's trailer hitch, and the stacked receivers, which provide the connection point for your trailer. When your trailer hits a bump, the stacked receiver portion of the mount will move up or down accordingly.

torsion diagram

Built into the Gen-Y mount are tubes with inner bars that are surrounded by rubber cords. As the receivers rise or fall, these inner bars twist inside of the tubes, attempting to follow the receivers' motion. But the rubber cords prevent the bars from twisting too far. And as each bar turns, these cords compress to absorb the shock. This means that any shock experienced by your truck can be absorbed before it reaches your trailer, and the shock experienced by your trailer won't get transferred to your truck.

This type of shock-absorption system is easy to maintain. Just regularly apply grease to the built-in zerk to keep the components in working condition. No airbags to fill. No small parts to repair or replace. No hassle.

Multiple Stacked Receivers for Easy Adjustment

stacked receivers

This unique mount from Gen-Y Hitch includes a ball mount that can be easily positioned in one of the 6 stacked receivers that sits along the vertical shank of the unit. This dual-ball mount lets you tow a trailer with a 2" ball coupler or a 2-5/16" ball coupler.

pintle hitch

Also included is a pintle lock, which can be inserted into the receiver directly above the ball mount to create a pintle hitch for hooking up a trailer with a lunette ring. Unlike other adjustable pintle hooks on the market, there are no nuts and bolts to remove and retorque when you change the positioning of this hitch. Just move the ball mount and pintle lock up or down to get the proper height and secure them in place with the included pins.

With the 6 stacked receivers, not only do you have the ability to adjust the height of the included ball mount, but you also have the ability to add various other hitch-mounted accessories. This heavy-duty mount is built with a 2,400-lb tongue weight, so you can even use multiple hitch accessories at the same time, as long as there are no clearance issues.

Easily Check Your Tongue Weight

scale

This mount features a built-in mechanical tongue weight scale. The red section on the top of the scale indicates your maximum tongue weight (2,400 lbs). The red section on the bottom of the scale indicates no tongue weight (0 lbs). A tongue weight of at least 1,600 lbs is recommended for the built-in shock absorption to function effectively. This means that the scale's white indicator marker should be in the green section when you hook up your trailer to tow.

Video Transcript for Review of Gen-Y Hitch Trailer Hitch Ball Mount - Torsion 2 Ball With Stacked Receivers - 325-GH-1826

Hi everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com and today we're gonna take a look at this Gen-Y Torsion 2-Ball Mount with stacked receivers. Now this shock absorbing adjustable ball mount is going to slide into your 3 inch trailer hitch receiver and it's going to give you 6 stacked 2-1/2 inch receivers. So you can hook up your trailer to your tow vehicle with the included 2 inch or 2-5/16 inch hitch balls. And you can also tow a trailer that has a lunette ring using it on the 2-5/16 inch hitch ball paired with the included pintle lock. So lemme give you a brief demonstration of that lock, that pintle lock.

So I have this set at my 2-5/16 inch hitch ball. And so you would just simply slide your ring over the 2-5/16 ball and then remove the pin here. I've got my pintle lock in the stowed position and I'm just gonna slide it out there just like that. And then that's going to allow you to use your lunette ring here and it's going to be secured on that hitch ball. So it's going to be very simple to retrieve that pintle lock.

And then when you don't need it anymore you can just push it in just like that and replace the pin and clip and it'll be in that stowed position. Now this pintle lock can adjust heights with this ball so if you move your ball down here you can just move your pintle lock down with it so it's adjustable just like our ball attachment. So the 6 stacked 2-1/2 inch receivers are obviously going to let you easily adjust the height of the included ball amount or any other accessory you choose to use. So you can tow trailers of different heights and it's going to be very easy to adjust this ball as well. Again, you're just going to remove the clip and then remove the pin.

And these pins are very easy to remove and replace. They slide without any hesitation at all. So I'm gonna go ahead and remove the ball and turn it to the 2 inch ball and just slide it down here and then line up my holes and then replace the clip. And that's gonna be just how easy and simple this is going to be to use. And replace my clip and we are good to go.

By the way, these pin and clips clips are constructed of aluminum and so that's going to give you rust free and corrosion free operation. They're gonna hold up really well. The accessory pinhole diameter is 5/8 of an inch. Now this is going to give you a maximum drop in this position of 12 inches and then you'll also get a maximum rise when you flip this over of 12 inches as well. And the gross towing weight with the 2 inch ball is 16,000 pounds and the maximum tongue weight with the 2 inch ball is 1500 pounds. And then the gross towing weight with the 2-5/16 inch hitch ball is 21,000 pounds. And the maximum tongue weight with the 2-5/16 inch hitch ball is 2,400 pounds. The optimal tongue weight when used with the 2-5/16 inch hitch ball is from 1600 pounds to 2,400 pounds. And the reason for that range is because of our shock absorbing design system. Now this shock absorbing design functions very similar to a torsion axle and I have an example here of a cutaway here that I just kind of wanna hold up here to give you an idea of what's going on on the inside. Built into the Gen-Y mounts are tubes with inner bars that are surrounded by rubber cords and as the receivers rise or fall, these inner bars twist inside of the tubes attempting to follow the motion of the vertical shank. But the rubber cords prevent the bars from twisting too far and as each bar turns these cords compress to absorb the shock. So what that means for you is that any shock experienced by your truck can be absorbed before it reaches your trailer and the shock experienced by your trailer won't get transferred to your truck. So this type of shock absorption system is easy to maintain. You're just going to regularly apply grease to the built-in zerk. So I want to give you an overhead look here if I may just to show you one of these zerks. You're gonna have a grease zerk here on the top and the bottom so you can easily apply the grease with your grease gun whether you have this in the drop position as I have it now or in the rise position. So very easy maintenance. There's not gonna be any airbags to fill. You're not gonna have to worry about airbags possibly bursting on you. No small parts to repair or replace, basically no hassle at all. Now while we're here with the overhead look I want to talk just real briefly about our pin weight scale. And again, we have a pin weight scale here in the drop position. And then on the other side, when you have this in the rise position. This is going to help you make sure that the trailer weight is balanced properly. The white mark that you can see right here is going to line up with the green portion of the sticker when it is properly balanced so that you're not exceeding your tongue weight or don't have enough tongue weight. It's on the red because we don't have any weight on there obviously. So having that tongue weight scale built in is going to give you a reference point to make sure that your trailer is loaded properly. Now this has a 5/8 of an inch in diameter and a 3/4 of an inch in diameter hitch pin holes and the hitch pin and clip are not included with this but you probably already have one for your hitch. But if not, we do have lots of options available here at etrailer.com. And I would recommend taking a look at locking pins because this is really an investment that you are making purchasing an item like this. So make sure to check out the related product section on this product page for some locking pin options that we have so you can make sure that you secure this investment on the back of your vehicle. Now just some measurements here to help you get an idea of the size of this and to help you be confident that this is going to work for you. From the center of the 5/8 of an inch pinhole to the center of our hitch balls, we are sitting right at about 15-3/4 inches. And then from the center of our 3/4 of an inch pinhole to the center of our hitch balls we're sitting at about 17-1/4 inches. And the overall height, we're sitting at about 18-1/2 inches tall. Now this is made here in the USA of a very heavy duty steel construction with this fantastic zinc primer and epoxy powder coat that's going to resist rust and corrosion. This is going to hold up really well for you. Everything about this ball mount speaks of quality and attention to detail. As you might know, Gen-Y has a great reputation for building very solid, very robust products and really this is no exception at all. By the way, I needed help getting this on the table. This weighs about 120 pounds, so just be aware that this is a very heavy product and if if you're not strong enough like me, you might need help actually sliding this into your 3 inch hitch. But everything about this really speaks to the heavy duty nature of this product. This is SAE J684 certified. And that's gonna conclude our look today. I do hope that it was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me.

Purchased the GH-1825 model for my 2022 F350.

My first impression, "This thing is a beast"!

The quality surpassed my expectations with off the chart marks. The quality is important to me because this purchase was an upgrade. I didn't want to waste my hard earned money. I did my research and landed with the GH-1825 model after weeks of internet video reviews and various websites. I also didn't want to have regrets and buy the other models and "wish" I would have gone bigger.

My plan is to use this Boss hitch to pull whatever I want and need; it's certainly well capable.

My old hitch was very limited in its capabilities, I certainly don't have that issue now.

Thank you GenY!

I won't repeat what's already been stated. Indeed, the last hitch you will purchase! It's a heavy beast - shipping weight was 138 pounds!

My load towing with this is actually a bit under-rated for the sweet-spot of this hitch, but I did not want to use a reducer on my 2019 F-450 to operate the lower-rated Gen-Y. It has definitely made a positive difference on rough terrain (especially off-road). In my case it is mainly to prevent the truck from roughing up the trailer with it's super-stiff nature. Of course this functions in either/any fashion.

This will absolutely cover anything you could ever possibly tow with a conventional style trailer. Anything heavier and you'd be looking at gooseneck (which they also make a torsion hitch for - which I am also strongly considering).

Not any fault of the hitch, but it will set off your reverse proximity sensors. No way around that with a hitch of this size.

I would suggest that it be mentioned that use of this hitch is probably going to require most users to extend their safety chains a good bit. I had 24inch chains with a standard hitch and they fit fine, but this Gen-Y required me to use 38inch chains minimum to not only make it to the receiver chain openings, but to also make it around the hitch itself!

Just thought that it might be helpful to others to know that. Luckily I had some longer Grade 70 chains already!

Overall, no complaints what so ever. I know what if someone happens to rear-end my truck they are going to get an engine block full of Gen-Y (sort of passive perk I say).

Best improvement I've made on this toterhome pulling 20K trailer. because of the way this 13'4" tall trailer used to porpoise hard on bad roads, loud banging shock loads on the hitch, I constantly feared structural failure. Now I don't hear or feel the trailer at all!!. Smooth.

  • Gen-Y Torsion Ball Mount or Shocker Hitch For 3 Inch Hitch Receiver
Between the Shocker Hitch and Gen-Y Torsion ball mount, I recommend the Gen-Y. Its rubber torsion arms are going to absorb road shock naturally due to its design, while the Shocker Hitch requires constant maintenance that isn't needed with the Gen-Y. It will improve the ride of your trailer substantially without the added work of maintaining an air bag, and because it the entire ball mount is designed to absorb shock, there isn't going to be stress/fatigue on it like there is on straight...
