Self-Adjusting Brake Doesn't Require Routine Adjustment

Standard electric brake assemblies require manual adjustment of the brake shoes over time to provide longer-lasting and more efficient braking performance. With self-adjusting brakes, the brake shoes are always properly aligned, so there's no need to manually adjust the brakes after the initial adjustment. As a result, you get optimum performance without having to take the time to continually perform this type of maintenance.

Thoroughly Tested for Safety

This brake assembly meets the requirements for certification by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA). The CSA creates standards, which when complied with ensure a safe and quality product. This brake assembly underwent extensive testing to measure stopping distances when braking. This brake has also been tested by QAI for braking performance in a complete automotive setup and under real-world conditions to provide the most realistic scenario for the everyday driver.

Automotive-Grade Friction Material

Each shoe on this brake assembly is lined with automotive-grade friction material for improved stopping performance and longevity. The friction material is fully bonded onto the surface of the brake shoe. This lining is custom-molded for a perfect fit. The edges are tapered to ensure long-lasting performance. This taper, along with the circular grinding that the lining undergoes, helps to prevent cracking and crumbling. This durability helps to prevent mechanical lockup, which can occur when brake shoes are excessively worn or broken.

The friction material is also SAE-N certified, which means that it is an environmentally safe product that complies with California and Washington regulations regarding the composition of brake pads. As a result, this material not only provides high-performance braking that can endure the test of time, but it is also environmentally friendly and safe for use throughout the United States and Canada.

I ordered an electric trailer brake assembly to replace a damaged one on my 14 foot cargo trailer. The fit was perfect and the one I ordered was self-adjusting.

by:

Bought a Hayes 3500 lbs axle that sat in the dirt for years and the pads nearly fused to the hubs. Well worth the money for piece of mind. Only suggestion is to pick up the 7/16-20 bolts with your order (eTrailer, why not just add it to the kit?)

Made my trailer project much easier.

Thank you much!

on time as expected

by:

Installed a complete set of 4 of the E trailer self adjusting brakes on my 2002 Doolittle trailer with Dexter 3500 axles....the pre assembled units went on effortlessly, and worked perfect.....would highly recommend them....thanks

by:

It pays to order from the experts! I knew something was loose in there so I ordered the works and everything was right. Thank You

by:

Perfect fit. A no hassle solution to replacing your brakes. It all comes as one component - minus the mounting hardware. I would have given it 5 stars if it included an absolutely needed part: the four 7/16 x 20 threaded nuts. It does tell you that it’s not included. I figured I could get them locally but couldn’t. Local stores have threads all around the 20, but not the 20. I was wrong so I had to put off installing until I could come back and order them from etrailer. Why not just add them to the brake assembly and raise the price of the assembly by $[XX]? If not for that, I certainly would give it a 5-star rating.

by:

Appear to be quality metal; matched up to my Dexter axles and hubs, no issues.
Arrived a couple days after the break kits and hubs; caused a small delay but no issue for me since did not need the trailer currently.

by:

I am so glad I Purchased the entire brake assembly instead of individual parts. This brake assembly is better than the original since it is self adjusting and I’ll never have to adjust my brakes again. It was a snap to install thanks to etrailer.com video instructions. I highly recommend this product

Good quality brake parts. I installed them on my travel trailer and the brakes work great!

by:

Got my electric breaks in and put them on my camper,( new parts should come with new hardware) easy online ordering and easy tracking, I will start ordering all my parts here.

by:

Very happy with etrailer, great parts and service plus I saved a bunch of money. Highly recommended.
Instead of refurbishing nine year old drums, shoes ,etc. I made an easy change out for the price of a fancy dinner. Thanks et

Brakes and new wheel bearings have worked out great!

by:

So far so good. I ordered a bunch of stuff from several sites th night I got my brake parts. Etrailer was the fastest order forfillment and the first on my porch by far. Everything fit like it was supposed to and this far seems to be working well. Can’t ask for more then that. If they sold a 11/16 ratchet wrench with these things would have gone lots faster.

by:

We use these brakes on a heavy loaded Interstate 7,000 lb.trailer, 16 foot, high top, walk in cargo trailer that has dual axles. The route is between southern Missouri, over the Rocky Mountains passes and over the Cascade Mountain Passes into the Pacifice northwest and back to Missouri...over 5,000 miles round trip. Towed by Dodge Dakota pickup truck, I REQUIRE brakes that are reliable, self adjusting, and function together in a consistent manner. These brakes replaced manual adjustment brakes of which enroute wear required multiple manual adjustments along the side of the road to safely cross high mountain passes. The difference between manual and self adjusting brakes and the consistent/straight stoping power of the self adjusting brakes is impossible to overstate. These self adjusting brakes were very easy to install, a mere bolt on job. I literally trust our lives to these brakes....and recommend them with great confidence with tens of thousands of miles of use.

by:

Fantastic quality, 0 complaints!
Tested
and work perfect. Would absolutely recommend. I’ll be sure to use etrailer for my trailer and hauling needs.

by:

Fits perfect - thanks for all the help with choosing the correct part. I was surprised there wasn't nuts and washers for the bolts. But am happy with the results.

by:

They will need bearings regreased. They were not shipped with anywhere near enough grease to make them last around the block. Which means you’ll have to carefully remove the rear seal or buy new ones to grease the inside bearing. And all the hub center caps would not fit and had to roll the edge with pliers a little to get them to tap into the hub.

by:

I'm happy with my new set of electric brakes for my vintage 1928 Wilderness two-axel travel trailer. Fast shipping and helpful customer service... Thanks

by:

No problems after 5,000miles

by:

Ordered brakes for my trailer shipping was fast installation was a breeze took about 30 minutes per wheel after watching the video this is the second time I have bought from E Trailer and will continue to buy

Love the parts and price will buy from etrailer again

by:

etrailer found the parts I needed and shipped them super fast. The self adjusting brakes were easy to install and work great but didn't come with new wire connectors.

The brake assembly does not come with new butt connectors for installation. If you are replacing the brakes on a single axle trailer, I recommend the heat shrink butt connector kit # DW05745-5 that includes 5 connectors. If you are replacing the brakes on a dual axle trailer, I recommend kit # DW05745-10 that includes 10 butt connectors.

by:

fast delivery, easy to install, appear to be of very good quality. overall very satisfied.

by:

Good price, delivery and fit. Self adjusters will hopefully save me the job of getting my Airstream off the ground to adjust the brakes in the future. So that makes me a "Happy Camper".

After about a year and 10k miles the brakes work just as they should without having to manually adjust them and I am still a Happy Camper!!

by:

I received my brakes quicker than expected and they were an exact fit. Installation was easy. I have a 7000 lbs travel trailer with 2 axles. These brake assemblies are a great value since the magnet alone cost $20. The brakes self adjusted after a few trips around the block. This is the only way to go if you need to replace your brake shoes or magnets. This is a quicker and easier way to go. Don't forget to purchase the nut to mount them with. They don't come with replacement nuts. I won't have to touch the brakes for another 5 years or so!

by:

Great website makes it easy to find the correct parts you need. Shipping was fast and the items were packed correctly, no damage or torn boxes. The videos about the products are great, they answer alot of questions. NOBODY came close to their price, they just make it to darn easy to do business with!

  • Needing 3500 lb Hub/Drum With 5 on 5 Bolt Pattern
You're correct, a hub/drum with a 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern wouldn't be compatible with your existing wheels. For a hub/drum for a 3500 lb axle with a 5 on 5 bolt pattern, I'd recommend the # AKHD-550-35-EZ-K. This hub/drum is compatible with the spindles typically found on a 3500 lb axle, which uses a L68149 inner and L44649 outer bearing and a 58846 grease seal. The hub includes the inner and outer bearings, inner and outer races, the grease seal, dust caps for a standard and E-Z...

We do not carry this axle so if you are looking for an exact replacement you may need to find a local retailer that can get this for you. I'm assuming your trailer has standard electric trailer brakes. In order to choose the correct brake assemblies, you'll need to measure the inside diameter and depth of your brake drums, and choose brake assemblies with the proper diameter and thickness. Your drums are likely 7 x 1-3/4, but you'll want to measure to be sure.
