Diameter of Kodiak Rotor Flange
Question:
Hi I need to know: What is the INSIDE flange diameter of the Kodiak 10 inch brake rotor kit number 2/RCM-10-DAC and also What is the OUTSIDE diameter of the idler hub flange of the Dexter Trailer Idler Hub Assembly Item # 84655UC1.... I have an unusual fit issue - I want to redrill the Kodiak rotor from 5 on 4.5 to 6 on 5.5, and install the kit onto these idler hubs on my 3500 axles, which currently have 6 on 5.5 drum brakes. So I need to know if the rotor will physically slide over and clear the hub flange, once it has been re-drilled to the matching pattern. If you know of a 10 inch rotor that is already drilled 6 on 5.5, and that will work with the 3500 pound idler hubs and the other Kodiak parts, please let me know. I have’t been able to find one. If you can supply this measure info, it will be a great help. Thank you

Expert Reply:
The inside flange diameter of the rotor from the Kodiak Disc Brake Kit # K2R35DS measures 3-11/16" and the outside diameter of the Dexter Trailer Idler Hub # 84655UC1 measures 2", though please be aware that you should not drill a new wheel bolt pattern on the rotor; doing so would compromise the integrity of the rotor and would not be safe.
What you need to do instead is either use a 12" rotor with a 6 on 5-1/2" bolt pattern such as # K2R526S or get a new idler hub assembly with a 5 bolt pattern.
For example, the Idler Hub Assembly # 84545BX has a 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern, is rated for 3,500 lbs and uses the same inner bearing # L68149, outer bearing # L44649, races and seal # 58846 as the Dexter idler hub you asked about.
You could then use the Kodiak Disc Brake Kit # K2R35DS you referenced so long as you have a 4-bolt mounting flange.
