Reversible, Variable-Speed Fan with Thermostat

MaxxAir Maxx Fan Plus Fan and Motor

The 12-volt, variable-speed fan has 2 modes of operation: manual and auto. When the fan is in manual mode, you can choose from 4 different speeds to increase or reduce the airflow as needed. Auto mode works in conjunction with the fan's thermostat.

To enter auto mode, press the auto mode button on either the remote control or keypad. Once the fan is in auto mode, the thermostat is activated with a set temperature of 78 degrees F. Pressing the arrow keys on either the remote or keypad changes the set temperature in 1 degree increments. When the thermostat is set, it senses the room temperature and automatically turns the fan on if it is above the set temperature. The fan shuts off when the set temperature has been reached. If the room temperature rises, the fan turns on again. This keeps your RV cool and comfortable and saves you from having to adjust the fan by hand. The auto mode also saves energy by running the fan no more than necessary, especially while you're away or asleep.

This fan is reversible, which means you are able to both exhaust stale air out of your RV and bring fresh air in from the outside. To enter ceiling fan mode, close the vent while the fan is still running. The fan then circulates the air inside your RV like a ceiling fan.

The fan has a fuse-protected, ball bearing motor that is sealed to keep out dust, dirt, and moisture.

Flush-Mounted Keypad

MaxxAir Maxx Fan Plus Keypad

The flush-mounted keypad on the vent enables you to operate the vent and fan, including opening or closing the dome and turning the fan on or off. You can also control the fan speed, the direction of the airflow, and the set temperature for the thermostat.

Manual-Lift Dome with Twin Arms

MaxxAir Maxx Fan Plus Twin Arms

The dome on this roof vent is constructed of durable high-density polyethylene, and it is translucent so that some natural light can shine through. When it's closed, the dome provides a seamless, low-profile appearance that blends into the roof of your RV.

Unlike a dome that has only 1 arm, this manual-lift dome is supported by 2 sturdy arms so that it will not flutter during high winds or while you are driving.

MaxxAir Maxx Fan Plus Manual Knob

And a manual hand knob is built into the underside of the vent to allow you to open and close the dome. Pull the knob outward, turn it to where you want it, and push it in to lock the dome into place.

Removable Bug Screen

MaxxAir Maxx Fan Plus Bug Screen

This vent has a bug screen that helps keep insects and debris out of your RV. It is secured to the vent with 4 built-in retainer clips. These clips make it easy to remove the screen for cleaning or maintenance. Just rotate the clips, and the screen will pop out.

Installation

The MaxxFan Plus vent fits standard 14" x 14" openings in the roof of an RV, camper, or enclosed trailer. A white interior trim piece (or garnish), insulated electrical connectors, and hardware are included for installation. The vent also has a molded-in mounting flange that is lined with a rubber weather seal, which helps prevent leaks. Roof sealant (sold separately) is required for installation.

To install, connect the two wires on the vent to your RV's electrical system. The black wire is for power, and the white wire is for ground. Then insert the MaxxFan Plus into the opening in the roof and mount the flange to the roof. To finish, trim the garnish as needed to fit the thickness of your roof and install it.

MaxxFan Plus With FanMate Cover

For extra rain protection, install a MaxxAir FanMate vent cover (sold separately) using the molded mounting tabs located on the flange. The tabs are designed to align with the integrated brackets on the FanMate, allowing for a no-drill, tool-free installation. These tabs also have rubber inserts that prevent water from seeping in under the flange.

Low profile, quiet, affordable.

by:

Fairly easy to install and really like the feature that will turn it on automatically when temp reaches 78f.

by:

The roof vent is mostly great - it just has bounce when we close it.

by:

Was a relatively easy installation and seems to be working fine only thing I do not like is that if you lose power to it it goes back from the temperature setting for the fan back to 78°

by:

After a year of use in tropical and desert climates the fan is still holding up great. The only minor issue is the screen is showing some signs of rust but then again most of our time is spent at the beach and near the coast. Would definitely buy this fan again.

Love it! Absolute must for any rv. We added two so one pulls air in and the other pushes out. No need for the air conditioner most nights. Relatively easy to install, just find power close, usually a ceiling light.

by:

Excellent product. Replaced old fantastic fan that broke. install was easy and fan eorks great.

So far so good. The fan arrived on time, and despite being shipped without the benefit of an outer box, there was no damage to the fan. The installation instructions were clear, and the installation was not overly complicated. The fan itself is very quiet, allows a good amount of light in, and swiftly pulls heat and presumably propane exhaust up and out of the kitchen. It’s a huge improvement for our 2011 Keystone Raptor both in terms of safety and convenience. The materials and construction of the fan appear to be of high quality, but time will tell how well it will hold up to daily use and occasional travel.

  • Could MaxxFan Plus Roof Vent be Used in Bathroom as Fan
Hey Jim, yeah the MaxxFan roof vent part # MA00-04002K would do a great job as a bathroom fan unlike what you have now as it can move a lot of air.

  • Is There Version of MaxxFan RV Roof Vent that Has Remote Control
I wish that was possible but there isn't a way to wire the MaxxFan so that it would power on to last used settings. There isn't a remote that works with this either. There is a similar version of this that does have a remote control with the MaxxFan RV Roof Vent part # MA00-07500K which would require you to remove what you have now. This also has a power lid feature as well.

  • Why Aren't Powered Roof Vent Fans Recommended Above Showers and Cooktops in RVs
Because of the high humidity environment around showers and range cooking surfaces, it isn't recommended that a powered vent like the # MA00-04002K fan be used in those areas. The high humidity will dramatically shorten the lifespan of the circuit boards and motors of a powered fan. You can certainly install the fan, but you'll likely not be pleased by how long it would last. In that kind of environment, a manual vent like # MA00-03700 is what's recommended. These fans that have the options you want, come standard with a 10 speed fan, and a thermostat. If you really didn't want the 10 speed fan however, we also have the MaxxFan Plus Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan and Thermostat # MA00-04002K. This is a 4 speed fan that is also reversible with a...

  • Can the MaxxFan Dome Plus Roof Vent Pull Air In
The MaxxFan Dome Plus Roof Vent part # MA00-03810B is an exhaust fan so it can only pull air out. If you are looking for a vent fan that does both you'll have to go with the larger square style like the MaxxFan Plus Roof Vent part # MA00-04002K which can still be installed in a van but more modifications would be needed.

If you already have a 00-04900K MaxxFan then the Replacement MaxxFan Plus 10-Speed Roof Vent with Smoke Lid # MA99FR you're looking at will be the correct replacement. If you're wanting to replace the entire setup, then you'd want something like the MaxxFan Plus Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan and Thermostat # MA00-04002K instead. • Help With MaxxAir MaxxFans Allowing Water to Get Inside Camper During Strong Storm
I have seen where very strong winds will flex the lid on a MaxxFan # MA00-04002K and allow some rain to get in during severe storms. The way to resolve this is by adding a cover to the vent which will help prevent the strong winds and rain from getting in. We have the FanMate in Smoke # MA00-955003, Black # MA00-955002 and White # MA00-955001 which allow you to easily remove the cover to service the fan as well. For example basic option like the Ventline E-Z Lift Ventadome Trailer Roof Vent with 12V Fan # V3094-603-00 or something like the 4-speed MaxxFan Plus Roof Vent with 12V Fan and Thermostat # MA00-04002K. If the dome on your MaxxAir # MA00-04002K vent fan will not open with the manual knob then the MaxxAir # MA10-20281K-3CF "operator" is broken and should be replaced. • Should I Use Smoke or White MaxxAir Roof Vent and Vent Cover
Both the smoke and white colors will be the same in regards to how much heat gets through and will be relatively similar when it comes to light, although the smoke will naturally be a little darker.
