Why Does my 2 Inch Hitch have a 1/2 in Pin Hole and a 5/8 in Pin hole

Question:

I have a 2inch x 2inch hidden hitch. It has the hitch pin holes for a 1/2inch and a 5/8inch pin. I need a 1/2inch pin and can not tell if this will work with a 2inch x 2inch hitch. Most 1/2inch pins specify that they are for 1 1/4inch hitches, but this one says 1 1/4inch and 2inch on your site.

The Curt Pin and Clip # F-4 that you referenced is designed to work on 1-1/4 inch hitches. The reason your hitch has a 1/2 inch hole and a 5/8 inch hole is because it is setup for an obsolete anti-rattle device Draw Tite J-Pin. We no longer carry the J-Pin so that hole is no longer used.

This 1/2 inch hole is not designed to be use as a hitch pin hole, you will want to use 5/8 inch pin and clip like the # PC3.

Do I need to make the 1/2 inch hole larger?

@Don No, do not use that hole as a hitch pin hole.
