This adapter allows us to use a bike rack we have across all our cars. It is perfect for light duty applications, easy to use and it can be stored in the trunk until you need it. I would definitely recommend it.

by:

I was concerned that the adapter might not fit on my 2023 Toyota Venza, LE, but it fits just fine. So, the notice that the adapter will not fit a class one hitch does not apply to the Venza, even though the Venza specifications indicates it is a class one hitch.

by:

I ordered a hitch and adaptor and it came in 2 days rather then 3 as estimated. I gave me an extra day to install ot before our vacation. It fit perfect! the installation kit and directions made the job easy peasy. was very pleased

by:

It works great I kinda wish I had gotten two of them ‘mmmm

by:

shipped promptly. Good product. Good Co mpanys

by:

Good product to upsize the receiver for Kuat bike carrier.

by:

Etrailer is by far the best place to get the stuff you need for towing! I will never go through any other company for the stuff I need!

by:

I had to file some weld slug on 2 inch receiver. No big deal, but I had to touch up the paint.

by:

Haven't used it yet but assume it will do the job. Need it to install 2" receiver hitch bike rack on my Subaru which only has the 1.25" receiver.

Little loose but works as expected than ks

by:

Perfect fit for the car. etrailer.com knows their stuff and never disappoints. They also recommend the associated pins for this converter and both worked exactly as expected. I have purchased every hitch, component, part, converter, etc. from them since about 2005 and used their site as an invaluable reference for installation. They never fail. Love this site.

by:

Ordered a hitch for my mazda3. I already had a hitch mount bike rack I was using on another vehicle but needed an adapter to use in the new rack. Ordered the rack and adapter. Within an hour I get an email and phone call from Michelle saying I ordered an adapter that would not work with the hitch I got. She said she would correct the order and get the correct parts out immediately. Within a few days I had the hitch and correct adapter delivered to my house. Customer service like this is second to none. Can’t believe how in tune they are at going beyond what you would expect from an online company. A++++ all around. Highly recommend

by:

We have been purchasing parts from etrailer for years and have always had nothing short of great customer service and have no plans to do anything different. Keep up the great service

by:

Works well for my bike rack on a small car. My bike rack is made for the 2" receiver on my RV. This way, I only have to have one bike rack that works for 2 vehicles

by:

The product is well made and fit was good. The looseness of the fit was good to fit different types of locking pins but not too loose to make a loud rattling noise.

by:

With each order, it was shipped quickly and efficiently! I ordered one part wrong, return was easy and the part I needed was shipped quickly. Highly recommend etrailer.com for all of your needs.

by:

Over the years I have been very happy withmy purchases from etrailer in general. This little adapter is another good purchase. I bought this one over the other offered because the finish is better. I believe the quality welding and smooth finish will help keep the corrosion at bay for a bit longer and it looks nicer. I appreciate etrailer.com putting forth the effort to provide good pictures for comparison and to ensure the overall dimensions are going to work.

by:

I found exactly what I wanted and the experience was awesome.

by:

Works Great Thanks for the professional help

by:

Excellent tool for conversion. It also adds clearance between the end of the receiver and my bumper, a requirement for my car and bike rack.

by:

I bought this in case I wanted a hitch attachment that needed the 2" receiver. It is a sturdy piece which should be very reliable.

by:

What I need to make the conversion to my new Kuat bike rack

by:

We received our hitch very quickly. Unfortunately it didn't fit. We've been going thru trying to get a return sticker since last Tuesday...and this is Saturday. We've called them 6 times. The last 3 were not returned.
We are not happy campers.

  • Is Hitch Adapter 80303 Designed For Towing
The Hitch Adapter part # 80303 that you referenced is an adapter designed for hitch accessories like bike racks that happen to have 2 inch shanks but it is not to be used for towing. It really wouldn't be needed for towing either as all you would need is the right size ball mount. People generally don't try to convert hitch sizes for their favorite ball mount like they do bike racks.

  • Can I Use A Weight Distribution Hitch Or An Adapter With A Class II Trailer Hitch
Class II trailer hitches are not manufactured for weight distribution. Due to this, there are not any weight distribution hitch manufacturers designing systems for Class II trailer hitches. The addition of a hitch adapter does not change this fact. You only have two options in this scenario. If possible, you can replace your Class II trailer hitch with a Class III trailer hitch. The second option is to reduce the tongue weight on your trailer. You can shift the load of your trailer rearward...

  • Will Hitch Adapter 1-1/4" to 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver Work for Bike Rack on 2005 Mini Cooper S
The Hitch Adapter 1-1/4" to 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 80303 provides a 6" extension which is measured from the center of each hitch pin hole. I can't say whether or not this will allow you to mount your bike rack on said vehicle as there are just too many variables unfortunately. That said, all of the racks we offer list the required hitch pin hole depth for bumper clearance. The Hollywood Racks Destination Bike Rack part # HLY94FR for example measures 9-1/4" from the center of the...

  • Use of Any Adapter Does Decrease the Hitch Tongue Weight Capacity by Half
You are experiencing a common dilemma. The use of any adapter does decrease the hitch tongue weight capacity by 50%. If your MKX Class II hitch offers a 350 lbs tongue weight capacity then with an adapter the bikes and rack combined cannot exceed 175 lbs. For most applications this would be sufficient but not knowing your bikes and how much they weight I cannot tell you for certain if this will work.Should you decide to go with an adapter we would recommend an anti rattle lock to secure...

We offer adapters so you can use the 2 inch bike rack with the 1 1/4 inch receiver hitch. The appropriate adapter for your hitch depends on what class it is. You can use part # HTAD if your hitch is a Class I or Class II and part # 80303 will only fit Class II. Please note, using either of these adapters will reduce your tongue weight capacity by 50 percent. • Why Class II Items Do Not Fit in Class I Receivers and Extenders Reduce Tongue Weight Capacity
The Hitch Adapter 1-1/4 inch to 2 inch Trailer Hitch Receiver (Class II Only), item # 80303, will not slide into a Class I receiver far enough for the hitch pin hole to line up with the hitch pin hole in the Class I hitch. An adapter that is designed so that it extends the items added to the receiver farther away from the hitch , like a...

  • Can 2 inch to 1-1/4 inch Hitch Adapter be Used to Carry 4 Bike Rack
The 1-1/4 inch to 2 inch hitch adapter part # 80303 that you referenced could potentially work for you but adapters like this end up cutting the capacity of the hitch they are installed in by 50 percent so you'd have to add up the weight of your bikes and rack and determine if you'd have the needed capacity.

  • How To Tell What Class Hitch I Have on My Toyota Matrix
There are a few ways to tell if you have a Class I hitch. Your hitch should have a sticker with the weight ratings, that indicate if it is a Class I hitch. A Class I hitch will have a maximum towing capacity of 2,000 lbs and a tongue weight capacity of 200 lbs. The other way to tell is, on a Class I hitch, there will be a small dent or punch in the receiver behind the hitch pin hole. If your hitch has this punch, it is a Class I hitch. The reason the punch is there, is to prevent customers...

  • Can a 1-1/4 Inch to 2 Inch Trailer Hitch Receiver Adapter be Used on an ATV Hitch for a Winch
Physically, yes, you can use a 1-1/4 inch to 2 inch adapter, like # 80303, in your ATV receiver. But, there are a couple of things you will need to be aware of. First, you will need to check to make sure that the receiver on the ATV has at least 2 inches of space from the center of the hitch pin hole back away from the receiver opening. If it has a closed back or something in the way and the obstruction is less than 2 inches from the hitch pin hole center, this adapter will not fit. Second,...
