Video Transcript for Review of Curt Hitch Pins and Clips - Clevis Pin - C45805

Today, we're going to take a look at the Curt steel clevis pin with the handle and the clip. Now, this hitch pin will secure your ball mount or other hitch mounted accessory in your trailer hitch receiver. The clip will insert into the pin to hold that pin into place. Now on this pin, it has a nice extra wide rubber coated handle on it. Makes it very easy to grip, making installation and removal a snap. It is a welded steel construction.

It's very strong and durable. If you notice on the pin right here itself, it has a black powder coating to resist corrosion. Now this can also be used as a coupling pin when you're towing with an ATV, UTV or lawn tractor. Application, this is designed for one and a quarter inch hitches. The pin diameter is a half an inch. Overall length from this end of the handle all the way to the end of the pin is going to be right at seven inches.

And just the pin itself is going to be right at four and three-eighths inches long. But again, once you insert this in, you just put your clip through the hole there, push it on, it'll lock it into place, and then to remove it, just pull the clip off and then you can pull your pin right out. But that should do it for the review on the Curt steel clevis pin with the handle and the clip..

Works great. Check to make sure you have clearance for the handle as it's big, but this is just what we needed to get our 1 1/4" hitch with adapter into a 2" receiver

Needed clip

They are the best for my application when flat towing my Jeep behind my 5th wheel.

by:

Easy to use on tow bar when towing our Jeep behind our 5th wheel trailer.

The order timeline was longer than expected, however, I accepted the fact that COVID19 impacted the delivery date. The unit is solid and appears well made. I am using this as the hinge for an aluminum trailer gate. It is definitely better than the original L bolt.

  • Best 1/2 Inch Hitch Pin that is Long Enough to Fit a 2 Inch Hitch Receiver
Is there a threaded nut inside the shank of the bike rack? My guess is that is the case. I would need to know the bike rack manufacturer and the model though the model is not as important as the manufacturer. If you can tell me that information I can determine if we have the proper threaded hitch bolt for that rack. If it does not have a threaded hitch pin hole and the issue is length you can use the Curt Clevin Pin with Handle # C45805. This pin has a 6-7/8 inch usable span so it is plenty...

  • How to Use a Bike Rack w/ a 2-1/2" Receiver
To adapt your 2-1/2" receiver to accept your 2" bike rack you will want to use the B&W Hitch Receiver Reducer Sleeve item # BWRHXA2182. This reducer sleeve slides directly into your 2-1/2" receiver and does not extend past it by more than 1/4" of an inch. I have linked a review video below. The main issue is going to be the locking pin. If your bike rack fits a standard hitch pin which is 5/8" you will ok using the one currently on your 2-1/2" receiver. If it does not you will want...

  • Replacement Clevis Pin For The Curt Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes # C89JR
Hey Robert, Based on the pictures you provided it looks like you do have the Curt Bike Rack # C89JR. It has a tool-free anti-rattle device that presses against the inside of the trailer hitch to prevent movement and a 1/2" diameter clevis pin to fully secure it to the trailer hitch. Since the clevis pin isn't sold separately you could use the Curt Clevis Pin with Handle and Clip # C45805 or just pick up another 1/2" diameter clevis pin and clip from your local farm & home or hardware...

  • Will the Curt Clevis Pin with Handle and Clip C45805 Fit Roadmaster Nighthawk Tow Bar for Blue Ox
The Roadmaster Nighthawk All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar for Blue Ox Base Plates part # RM-677 uses 5/8" pins to secure to the lugs on the base plate arms so the Curt Clevis Pin with Handle and Clip part # C45805 will fit.

  • 1/2" Receiver Pin Lock for Bike Racks in Large 2" Receiver Hitch
With the bike rack only having a 1/2" diameter pin hole that will limit you to pins that are only designed for 1-1/4" receivers. Using a bolt with washer and nut is not a good idea as it is not near as strong as the receiver pins. The Curt Clevis Pin with Handle and Clip # C45805 is actually 3-5/8" from the collar to the cotter pin. The video will show you the measurements on the product. I recommend using the Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock # 5200. It will allow you to lock the bike rack...

  • Can a Thule Bike Rack Be Used in a 2 1/2 inch Hitch?
The 2 1/2 inch hitches will actually use a 5/8 inch pin like a 2 inch hitch will. With that being said, I am not aware of any SUVs that come with a 2 1/2 inch receiver hitch. Just to make sure, when verifying the size of a hitch, you do so by measuring the inside of the hitch where a bike rack would be inserted. If you do indeed have a 2 1/2 inch receiver opening, the correct pin will depend on if your Thule rack has a threaded pin and if it has a 1 1/4 to 2 inch adapter. If you have the...

  • Availability of a 1/2 Inch Diameter Pin With a 3 Inch Length
We offer a hitch pin by Redline, with part # 12H which would be the closest match, as it is a 1/2 inch diameter pin with a straight pin length of 3-1/2 inches. A similar option is the Curt # C45805, with a 1/2 inch diameter and a 3-5/8 inch overall pin length.

  • Replacement Clevis Pins For The Curt Base Plate C59JR
Yes you can absolutely use a different pin as long as it has the correct diameter. We carry pins here that will be perfectly acceptable to use, but we do not have a direct replacement for the pins that came with your Curt base plate # C59JR. Curt does make a generic clevis pin. We have; # C45805 for a 1/2" diameter pin. # C45804 for a 5/8" diameter pin. # C45803 for a 1" diameter pin.
