Built-in LED Light Strips

Roadmaster Nighthawk Integrated LEDs

This is the coolest feature you didn't know you needed. These built-in LEDs don't just look dope - they're great for safety too, especially when you're driving at night. They light up the space between your RV and your toad (towed vehicle) and alert other drivers to the fact that you're towing a vehicle behind your RV. You definitely want to avoid an inattentive driver trying to merge right into the middle of your setup.

They also come in handy when you get to your campsite after dark and you want to unhook. These LEDs are more than bright enough for you to see what you're doing.

It's all extra snazz with no extra work. When you plug the power cord into your RV's 7-way to flat tow, the LEDs will have power. Turn on your RV's taillights and the LEDs come on too. Simple as that.

Smooth Hookup with Stainless Steel Arms

Roadmaster Nighthawk Stainless Steel Arms

The Nighthawk is designed to make hooking up your toad a smooth and easy process. The telescoping arms are able to extend to the needed length and angle to reach the base plate without the need for your vehicle to be perfectly level or in the exact right spot behind your RV. The inner arms are stainless steel and will slide in and out smoothly. Supremely corrosion resistant, they'll stay rust-free and functional for the life of the tow bar.

Slide the tow bar into your hitch and pin it in place. Get the arms connected to the base plate one at a time. Once you're all hooked up, slowly pull forward and the self-aligning arms will fully extend and lock into the towing position. Double check that the arms are properly latched and you'll be ready to hit the road!

Extra-Long Arms Get You Around Tight Turns

The Nighthawk's arms are longer than average, giving you an above-average turning radius. You're going to be able to get around obstacles and make sharp turns with no worry of clipping the corner of your RV. Maneuver through gas stations and the campsite no problem.

Non-Binding for Easy Disconnect

Uneven ground and sharp angles can put the arms of the tow bar in a bind and make them stiff and immoveable. Once you get to your destination, the last thing you need is to spend several minutes wrestling, yanking, and kicking at them to get your car disconnected.

non binding towbar

Instead, get out of a bind in one easy step. Simply pull up on the lever on the arm of the Nighthawk to disengage the internal latch. This releases the pent-up pressure so you can unhook and get on with your adventure.

Built-In Cable Guides

Tow Bar Cord Channels

The Nighthawk comes with cable guides built into the arms, keeping your setup streamlined and organized. The power cord will come pre-installed in the cable guide, protecting it from getting damaged or tangled. It's also a great way to keep all your gear together. You won't need to find a separate place to store your power cord; you can keep it right there where you need it, ready for the next time you flat tow.

Power Cord and Safety Cables

You can thread the safety cables through the guides as well, which will likewise protect them from damage and make them easy to store.

Engineered for Excellence

FEA test

The Nighthawk is engineered to be as tough and durable as possible. Throughout the design process, rigorous physical and computerized testing is done, including Finite Elemental Analysis (FEA). Each of these tests displays a 3-dimensional image of the tow bar while it is put under thousands of pounds of pressure. Areas of stress in the tow bar can then be located and studied so that those areas can be strengthened. This process is repeated until any weak spots, particularly those found in load-bearing components, are completely removed. The result is a product that is durable, strong, and safe.

Simple Storage: RV-Mounted Tow Bar

Road Master Night Hawk Storage

The Nighthawk folds up to conveniently store on the back of your RV when you're not using it. After disconnecting the tow bar from your toad, push the arms of the tow bar together so that they are side by side. Push the tow bar up until the holding latch clicks into place. The arms can then swing to the right or to the left, whichever side you want to store it on.

For added protection from the elements, slip the Roadmaster tow bar cover (RM-055-3 - sold separately) over the tow bar when you're not using it.

What You Need to Flat Tow

Flat towing can be a much more convenient way to take your car RVing with you than using a trailer or a tow dolly. It'll save you storage space both at home and at the campsite, and it takes less time and hassle to hook up.

To flat tow your vehicle, there are 5 basic components you're going to need: a tow bar, a base plate kit, a safety cable set, tow bar wiring, and a flat tow braking system.

For the RV Between the RV and Towed Car For the Towed Car
Hitch Tow bar Base plate
Wiring plug Safety cables Braking system
Wiring adapter cord Wiring kit/diodes

The custom-fit base plate installs on the frame of your toad so you can connect the car to your RV with a tow bar. Hook up safety cables between the vehicles to ensure that the toad does not separate from the motorhome if the tow bar becomes detached. Tow bar wiring syncs your vehicle's signal lights with your motorhome's tail lights, as required by law in most states. Finally, the flat tow braking system - also required in most states - activates the brakes in the toad when you hit the brakes in the RV, making for smoother, safer braking, and preventing wear on your motorhome.

Very satisfied with the Roadmaster Tow Bar with the Blue Ox adapter. Easy to install and have not had any issues with the tow bar binding when detaching the bar from my toad.

Awesome Design. I love how everything is tucked away. It would've been nice to have some quick-connect points for the safety cables and pigtail when the Tow-Bar is in storage mode. As opposed to just wrapping the loose items and hooking back to themselves (seems tacky compared to the rest of the engineering). Beautiful Product!

Installed the Brakeaway System and finally got a chance to use it! It worked flawlessly! I added a pic of the location for my 2023 Jeep Gladiator Mojave. This was after staring into the engine compartment for 2 days so maybe this will help someone to decide?

by:

We've been towing our Jeep Grand Cherokee for about 8 months now with this tow bar and it's worked flawlessly! We've been places where the coach and Jeep are not perfectly aligned putting the attaching pins in a bind, but with a simple release of the handle it would release the arm and unbind the pin. Super easy to use. I highly recommend the Nighthawk All Terrain, Non-Binding tow bar. OH! The LED lights along the arm make it look great too!!

by:

Called Dan and ordered via phone. He was GREAT to work with. I had a tight timeline for delivery and Dan made it happen. I love my new Nighthawk towbar. Towed my Jeep Gladiator 750 miles the last two days with NO binding issued. I highly recommend it!!

Tow bar appears to be very well made. Despite being made of aluminum, it is still very heavy and substantial. Lights look great and light up the area around the tow bar. Better made than the Blue Ox it is replacing (Blue ox said their tow bqr needs to be replaced after 10 years. Who makes a product that expensive that only lasts 10 years? Never again fir Blue OX for me...........

by:

This is a nice towbar that packages up neatly and is easy to use. You do need to lift both arms to attach it to your toad. If you're alone, it's hard to lift both arms and somehow insert the pins. You'll need to work out a way to do it that works with your setup. The neck is really long on it also, with no additional holes if you want to shorten it up. Adding a hitch riser or drop makes it even longer between RV and toad. The break away cable on ours didn't even reach our RV, much less attach to something. We added another cable from the RV and all works. The included cables are what they are in general. No shortening or lengthening them out of the box. We have had a few binds that the handles didn't resolve. Wiggling and finagling does the job like any other towbar. It does seem to be really great quality and overall I would recommend it.

Glad I spent a few extra bucks for this tow bar. Like the ease of hooking up and the LED’s that light it up when connected. Had to change out the 7 way connector as it was damaged in shipment. E trailer helped me get a new connector (actually better than the original) so I’m super satisfied.

by:

We just received our order, and having it installed by one of Etrailer's preferred installers. Very fast shipping, and great communicators

by:

Easy to install. Perfect fit on my Honda 2014 CRV. Video was awesome. Great information on web site to aid in purchasing the correct one the first time.

by:

Very nice tow bar. I like the way it stores on the back of my motor home.

by:

THis towbar has been excellent at towing my Jeep Grand Cherokee behind my Class A RV.
Only complaint I have is the location of the wiring harness, it has been pinched during tight turns a couple time, but that is also on me for doing those turns.

by:

works well, easy to use, folds up out of the way. No complaints. would buy again

Excellent. Easy to use. Easy to hook up. I have it attached to my tow jeep via the D rings on the aftermarket front bumper. Very user friendly.

by:

Have owned two other types of tow bars. Hands down best tow bar on the market.

by:

Easy install

by:

Very well built and designed. Haven’t road tested it yet.

by:

Great service fast delivery

by:

Great tow bar, Love the lights, lets people know when passing I'm towing another vehicle ..

by:

Bought the Roadmaster for a Blue Ox base plate. Perfect fit. Would be 5 stars for the product but gave it 4 stars for the packaging. Theis is a heavy item and the box is merely taped -- not stapled! Unsurprisingly, the box arrived completely open. That I can tell, nothing is missing but can't be certain until everything is put together. However, this could have easily gone the other way with missing items (and the ensuing hassle to get things corrected). To Roadmaster: USE STAPLES! To etrailer: Tape it better!

by:

Works as intended. Very easy to attach and detach vehicle.

by:

I waited four months to install my tow setup because of COVID and it was worth it. The bar lets everyone on the road know the car is in tow and it is easy to hook and unhook regardless of the angle. The only problem is that the lights on the bar can overpower the night vision of the back up camera on our coach, but you don't back up when towing anyway.

by:

Love the LED lights and increased visibility. Easy to install; easy to use every time we move our MH! Love the way eTrailer follows up on the sale.

by:

I have purchased many Roadmaster products and they are generally well made. This unit had some fit and finish issues and the light strips are attached with adhesive and black silicon sealer. After having difficulty getting functionality in the wiring between the RV and towed vehicle and extensive testing the ground wire in the Roadmaster cable harness was bad. I called eTrailer as they are always very helpful/knowledgeable. In this instance they advised Roadmaster prefers to handle and quality issues. Roadmaster technical assistance was excellent, but the only choice was to return the whole tow bar and have them fix it or have them send a replacement wire harness and install it myself. Not wanting to wait for two-way shipping and repair I opted to do the repair and they shipped me a replacement wire harness. When I disassembled the unit, it was apparent the ground wire had pulled out of the butt connector where the cable is split in the middle to splice in the LEDs along the sides.
After repair everything was functional. Hookup and release of the bars to the towed vehicle is quite easy. If the wiring was good to begin with this would probably merit 5 stars for ease of installation and 4 stars for value. I will follow up if there are any further issues.

Love this set up !

by:

Very well made. No bind to the extensions, and they have solid feel and a positive lock. The cable management system and lighting are are very helpful. Highly recommend this bar!
