When you apply the brakes in your tow vehicle, deceleration occurs and momentum pushes your trailer toward the rear of your vehicle. With surge brake systems, the actuator is triggered as your trailer moves forward while the tow vehicle slows. The actuator telescopes, applying force to its master cylinder, which in turn supplies the necessary hydraulic pressure to engage the trailer's brakes.

Fast shipping and as advertised.

Product works but when I back up. The actuator moves back and the brakes go on! Don’t know how to fix this. Now I put a c clamp on it to stop it from going in.

Thanks for your review of your Titan actuator coupler T4747200, while the C-clamp works, there is a safer way to deactivate the surge brakes on your coupler. You can use an item called a reverse lock out. This will get signal from your tow vehicle when it is in reverse and will NOT apply the brakes on the trailer allowing you to back up. For your Model 6 actuator you can use the T4748800 lock out solenoid, and you may want a cover like T4836800183 as a solenoid shield that will help protect the reverse lock out solenoid. You will need to make sure that the solenoid is connected to the tow vehicle reverse light circuit, so if you have a 7-way on the trailervehicle then you would need to splice in and connect to the correct line. I have included a link to one of our help articles that shows the various locations of the reverse line depending on how the trailer is wired. If you have a 4-way flat, you can convert it to a 5-way taht will splice into the vehicle side reverse wiring, and the kit HM47890 includes both the trailer and vehicle side wiring harness. Another option for wiring the vehicle is to use a 5-Way adapter like part 47515 which will allow you to leave the 4-Way wiring connector on your vehicle and add the reverse light circuit to the adapter when towing this trailer.

  • Resetting a Titan Surge Brake Actuator # T4747200
To release the breakaway lever of the Titan Zinc-Plated Brake Actuator # T4747200 you will need to use a screw driver to push the clip on the lever back towards the rear of the trailer while pushing the lever back to its original position.

  • Replacement Actuator Recommendation for Atwood 82541
The Atwood actuator you mentioned is no longer available but we can help replace it. To replace it I recommend the Titan, part # T4747200. It has a higher capacity at 8,00 pounds and still fits a 2-5/16 inch hitch ball. It's also a bolt on and includes a manaul lockout. I have attached a link to a product review video you can check out.

  • Can the # T4747200 Titan Disc Brake Kit Replace Existing Oil Bath Hubs
If all the bearing numbers match then you could use this Titan Disc Brake Kit and Leverlock Actuator, part # T4747200, on your trailer that has currently has oil bath hubs. You will want to take extra care to clean off all of the oil from the spindles before you install the new bearings from the # T4747200. In some situations the oil and grease will not mix well and this could cause premature bearing wear.

  • How to Reset the Breakaway Lever on a Titan Model 6 Trailer Brake Actuator
I will be happy to explain resetting the breakaway lever on the Titan Model 6 actuator, # T4747200. The manual states: Resetting the Break-away Lever: (Refer to the parts diagram in the instructions linked to the right). When the break-away lever (item 7) is engaged, it is in the vertical position. It must be reset before the trailer is moved. First, carefully loosen the pressure line fitting to the master cylinder to relieve hydraulic pressure (Figure 3). Then remove the four bolts...

  • Replacement for Titan Model 6 Trailer Brake Actuator
That is a great photo, thank you; and while there are certain repair parts available for a Titan Model 6, I recommend replacing it altogether. The reason for this is the corrosion looks to have taken its toll on the actuator, and is at the point where a replacement makes the most sense in terms of safety and value. The Titan Model 60 is still a good option, and the right one will depend on if you have disc or drum brakes: - Disc Brakes: Titan Zinc-Plated Brake Actuator - Disc - 2-5/16"...

We have the perfect replacement for your Global Direct GDC-80 brake actuator. Since you mentioned "down tongue" I believe you were referring to having an actuator with drop. The Titan Disc Brake Kit # T4747200 that you referenced has been confirmed to work on 13 inch trailer wheels like the part # AM20234 that you referenced so it would work well for you. I wasn't able to find any information on the TS3571EZ axle you have by Dexter, but I will say this will fit a Dexter 3,500 lb axle that has hubs on it currently that are inner bearing number of L68149 and outer bearing number of L44649. Pull your current hubs to check the bearings to be sure.

  • Troubleshooting a Dico Surge Brake Coupler on Boat Trailer with Disc Brakes
From the information you have given, I believe that you have a Dico Model 10 actuator. We offer Master Cylinder, # T4747100, that can be used as a replacement if you choose to go this route. If the ridiculous noise still exists, I recommend that you replace your current brake actuator with one that has a weight capacity closer to the weight of your Trail Rite boat trailer. The Titan Disc Brake Actuator, # T4747200, has a weight capacity of 8,000 pounds.

Titan offers the following instructions, which I have also linked for you, on bleeding the brakes: Remove the master cylinder cap and fill the reservoir to three quarters full with DOT-3 brake fluid. DO NOT allow brake fluid to contact painted surfaces since it will damage the finish. Wipe up any spills immediately and wash the area with water.
