When you apply the brakes in your tow vehicle, deceleration occurs and momentum pushes your trailer toward the rear of your vehicle. With surge brake systems, the actuator is triggered as your trailer moves forward while the tow vehicle slows. The actuator telescopes, applying force to its master cylinder, which in turn supplies the necessary hydraulic pressure to engage the trailer's brakes.

- Will the Titan Brake Actuator T4749600 Allow for Reversing UphillThe Titan Brake Actuator part # T4749600 does not come with a lockout so in order to reverse you'll need to install a lockout solenoid, the Replacement Solenoid Valve for Titan Brake Actuators with Reverse Lockouts part # T4748800. This would also require a 5-way trailer connector so you'll also need the Curt Trailer Connector Adapter part # C57187 and Hopkins Wiring Harness part # HM37918.
