Can the Roadmaster High-Low Adapter Be Used with Kuat Bike Rack for Rear Hatch Clearance

Why cant this 8inch rose adapter be used with my Kuat bike rack? I need it so I can open my back door of my jeep. Thank you

The Roadmaster High-Low Adapter # RM-048-8 can be used with a bike rack. However, when using with a hitch-mounted accessory, such as a bike rack or cargo carrier, the tongue weight of your hitch will be reduced by at least 50 percent.
For example, if your vehicle's trailer hitch has a tongue weight rating of 350 pounds, when using the high-low adapter, the hitch can only handle 175 pounds of tongue weight. This reduced tongue weight includes both the weight of the rack and the weight of the bikes on the rack.
This adapter will fit a 2 inch hitch receiver and will provide a 2 inch receiver for your tow bar or hitch accessory.
