Ellen: Hey, everybody. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com and we're going to be taking a quick look at the replacement rocker switch for your Kwikee steps. This switch allows your steps to get deployed out and then back in. It allows you to press that so as long as you're pressing it, that's how it's going to operate. Once you release it, it stops operating. That's kind of the on off momentary switch function there.
And it does come with the backing plate to mount that up. It does not come with the hardware though so you will have to pick that up on your own to get that installed. But let's take a little closer look, make sure it's the right fit for your application. There's just going to be the switch and that rocker plate to operate those steps. Again, self-centering rocker switch so as you push down on it, those steps will extend, release, they stop and then they retract until you let up. It just installs inside your RV so you can easily access this and deploy those steps in and out.
This works with steps that don't have a control unit. If it did, then those steps would just come out on their own with the door switch. This is one where you need to manually operate your steps. It's just a replacement for that. Now, as you can see, I pushed my switch inside that plate there, just to kind of give you a better look at that, but the little tines on the back do hold that in place.
It can be a little bit tricky to get this back out again. I'll take this out and I'll give you some measurements just for reference. There we go. Our switch plate is about two and three quarter inches long, and about one and three quarter inches wide. The mounting holes are spaced apart by about two and an eighth inch center to center. Again, hardware is not included for this, but if you get some screws that are about an eighth inch in diameter, that should work out just fine.
The rocker switch measures about one and three quarter inches long and about one inch wide and then about one and seven eighths of an inch deep. The mounting depth is about one and a half inches. The overall one and seven eighths inch is from the bottom of those connection points to the top ridge of that switch. The switch itself should be that direct replacement. It is a replacement part from Lippert for those Kwikee steps. That's pretty much all there is to it for our look at the replacement center rocker switch for your Kwikee steps. I hope this has been helpful in deciding if this is the right replacement part for you. We do have a lot of Lippert components here at etrailer.com, along with a lot of other good stuff for your RVs in general. Check us out. Thanks for watching.
