Parts Needed To Hardwire Rocker Switch To Lippert Electric Steps
Question:
I have a 2011 Newmar Bay Star 2901 with Lippert automatic electric steps. I have been having issues with them working. I have replaced the motor 163669 300-1406, the control module 164889, the on/off switch, and magnetic door switch. The coach wire harness tests correctly. Now, my battery disconnect relay keeps cycling when the on/off switch is on. Steps move freely when motor is removed. Motor works in both directions when wired directly to 12V battery. I’m fed up and want to bypass the control module. Can I install this rocker switch directly to the motor, so I can just manually extend/retract my steps?

Yes, you can wire the steps directly to a rocker switch # LC371010 to your battery if you wanted too. What you'll need to do is follow the directions attached to this answer page. This will completely bypass the control module so you can manually retract/extend the steps.
You will need to use # 12-1-1 to run wire to you steps and make your butt connections with # DW05745-10, from here you will run a line to your battery and make a jumper as well with # RM-300115-00.
Since the factory wires coming off your steps are 16 AWG you'll need to double up your copper end so it'll fit into the 12 AWG butt connector. You can use # PTW30764 to crimp your connections.
