I am very pleased with the results of my installation of the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 in my 1998 Toyota T100 using the ETBC6 installation kit. Patrick at etrailer provided information to help me know what to do, and I reviewed etrailer's video entitled "Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2002 Toyota Tundra" several times in preparation for the effort. The video is the most comprehensive of any I could find, showing what to do from beginning to end, even though the vehicle is different from mine. The ETBC6 kit included everything I needed (extremely convenient) except for a 1/2" grommet (which it should include for a few pennies more). The effort required about 5 hours. The most difficult part was determining which wire on the T100's Brake Switch (Green with White Stripe) to attach the red wire to from the Prodigy P2 because the Brake Switch is located in a very difficult location that could not be easily probed.

Weve used it several times throughout the past year and it works perfectly. I wouldnt pull a trailer without it.

by:

Already had a 7-way without brake controller and 12v power wires. Ordered this kit because it came with everything I needed but was cheaper than the ETBC7.

by:

Easy to install, great to have both 4 pin and 6 pin for variety of trailers.

by:

Product was as specified. Video tutorials made install easy. If you have any problems these guys are right on the ball. Can't say that enough.

by:

Good product at good price, and great support

by:

Everything in my kit was of great quality and most importantly I received it promptly after placing my order. The sales rep was very knowledgeable and very professional.

Thank you Cathy.

  • Using Part # ETBC6 to Install Brake Controller on 1999 Chevy Astro
The 4 to 6-way trailer connector adapter supplied with the Brake Controller Installation Kit has a 4-pole connector that connects to the existing 4-pole on your Astro. The remaining wires attach as follows: The black wire provides 12-volt power for use by any trailer mounted accessories requiring a power feed. This wire would run to the positive battery terminal via the 40 amp inline breaker included in the kit. The blue wire carries the output from the brake controller. It would run...

  • Brake Controller and Installation Kit for a 1999 Ford Ranger
To wire your 1999 Ford Ranger for a 6-way connector and a brake controller you will need a 4 way wiring harness for your vehicle, which you already have and a Brake Controller 6 & 4 Way Installation Kit, part number ETBC6, along with a brake controller you see link. You will attach your 4-Way wiring harness inline with the connector provided with the ETBC6 kit to power the taillight functions. I have linked you to an FAQ article that outlines the install procedure as well as a link to...

  • Is Brake Controller Install Kit, Part ETBC7 Needed to Install Brake Controller on 1998 Suburban?
On your model year, in some instances GM ran a orange and blue wire from under the brake master cylinder to the rear of the vehicle, along the drivers side frame rail. If this wiring is in place, all of the rest of the connections must be wired into the vehicle. I usually recommend using the Brake Controller Installation Kit anyway. The kit includes the trailer connector, circuit breakers, hardware and wire. You most likely will not need all of the wire in the kit, but as a matter of convenience...

  • Brake Controller Install on 1985 Chevy Suburban C20
The 1985 Suburban does not have the provision to plug in the brake controller, it will have to be hardwired. We offer a Brake Controller Installation Kit, part # ETBC6 if a 6-way trailer connector is needed, and ETBC7 for a 7-way connector. The installation kit contains everything needed for installing a brake controller in your vehicle, including the wire, the trailer connector, circuit breakers and hardware. Fortunately, we have a Brake Controller Installation Guide as well as an installation...

  • Adapter Recommendation to Install Brake Controller in a 2016 Mazda CX-9 with 4-Way
To install your Tekonsha brake controller and activate the 12 volt accessory circuit you would need the part # ETBC7. This kit comes with everything needed to convert the 4-way to a 7-way and install the brake controller. Most likely your Fleetwood uses a 7-way and not a 6-way since the RV world almost exclusively uses 7-ways and the agricultural world uses 6-ways. When you counted the pins did you count 6 on the outside and then a center pin? If so then you have a 7-way. In the off chance...

I would recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Brake Controller, item # 90885, for your vehicle. This is a proportional brake controller that brakes the trailer in relation to the speed in which the vehicle is stopping. You will also need the # ETBC6, Brake Controller 6 and 4 Way Installation Kit, which has all of the items needed to upgrade your 4-Way connector to the 6-Pole Round connector for towing with trailer brakes and accessory power. We have a video installation of a Brake Controller...

  • Parts Needed to Connect 2015 Dodge Grand Caravan with 4-Way Trailer Connector to Trailer With 6-Way
The best way to install a 6-way connector on the rear of your 2015 Dodge Grand Caravan is to use # ETBC6. This uses your existing 4-way and provides a 6-way and all the necessary wiring to power your trailer's brakes. The only thing it doesn't include is an electric brake controller. If you need a brake controller as well I suggest the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 # 90885 because of its reliability and ease of use. It's one of our top selling brake controllers. I've attached a video of the...

Since you have a 4-way connector on your 1993 Ford F-250 and you need a 6-way round for the trailer I would recommend that you install a Brake Controller 6 and 4 Way Installation Kit, part # ETBC6, on your F-250. This will convert your 4-way to a 6-way and allow you to connect to the trailer you are purchasing and use a brake controller if you have one. We also have a complete 6 way kit that will wire up your 6 pin plug at the bumper and wire it to the brake controller, part # ETBC6. You will not even need to cut off your 4 way connector as it will connect to the 6 way pigtail. This way, when you are pulling a trailer without brakes, you still have a functional 4 way connector. I will briefly run through the wiring process, but I will also include some links...

  • Do I Need Brake Controller For 1999 Toyota Tacoma Towing 2500 lb Trailer w/ Electric Brakes
If the Gross Trailer Weight (GTW) of the trailer you are towing is half or more of the tow vehicles Gross Vehicle Weight, it is recommended to use a brake controller. Most states even require that a brake controller be used. I would recommend installing a brake controller for braking power and certainly for safety. Since your 1999 Tacoma has a 4-way and the trailer has a 6-way connector, to install a brake controller, you will need to use the Brake Controller 6 and 4 Way Installation Kit,...

  • Do Your Carry an OEM Replacement 6-Way Connector for a 2008 Ford F-150
A 2008 Ford F-150 would have come with either a 4-Way or 7-Way connector. There is not an OEM 6-Way. You can convert your 4-Way into a 6-Way using 6-Way Installation kit part # ETBC6. You would plug your existing 4-Way into the 4-Way socket on the ETBC6, then you would run the blue wire to either the reverse lights or brake controller, depending on how your trailer is set up, and then you would run the red wire up to the battery for a 12V power source.
