Works great

In January 2018 I received from etrailer parts to rebuild the Kodiak disc brakes on my 78 Airstream. The parts arrived quickly and fit perfectly and are now working with DOT 5 brake fluid. Hopefully the silicone fluid will be better at the sometimes months of sitting than the DOT 3 and 4.
Over the years etrailer has helped me with any technical question either before or after the sale and they are my go to supplier.
Happy Trails!

Exact replacement

First time I've rebuilt brake calipers. Not a bad project at all. Great money $aver. Was very nice to stumble upon these at etrailer. I will do it again next time it is needed.

by:

Product arrived on time as promised but the brake pads were packed loose in the boxes which allowed the coating to get badly chipped. I will have too paint them with rustoleum paint. Cardboard dividers would have prevented this.

by:

Glad I found your site here on the internet...... good service and prompt delivery.. all the parts fix and job done before the winter sets in

This site was super easy, parts were instock. Local companies were of no use. I was willing to pay more just so i could get started & complete the rebuild. In this case i did have to wait, but part arrived three days earlier, than the week that was estimated.

  • Repair Kit Recommendation for a Kodiak 250 Caliper

  • Tip for Installing Dust Boot Seal of Trailer Brake Caliper
Dust boot seal installs for brake calipers can be a real pain, but you slide the dust cover down to the bottom of the piston with the bottom flange hanging off just enough to start it in the groove cut in the caliper. Once in place you just slide the piston down into the caliper and the dust cover slides right into place. After you have done it once the second one will take about 1 minute to do.

The side of the Silicone Dust Boot # K225BSSI, that comes with the Rebuild Kit # KDBC225KIT, with the design on the outside ring needs to face in towards the piston while the other side should face the brake pad. I have attached a photo to demonstrate this.

  • Recommended Kodiak Disc Brake Caliper Re-Build Kit
We offer two caliper re-build kits for Kodiak disc brake systems. You will select yours based on axle rating. • Is There A Caliper Rebuild Kit For A Load Rite Boat Trailer?
Hey Mike, we do sell a couple of caliper rebuild kits. They are brand specific though, and I do not have a way to know exactly what brand of caliper is currently on your trailer. If you can tell me the brand of caliper and the weight capacity of the axle, I can definitely see if we have a rebuild kit for you. For example the Kodiak Disc Brake Caliper Rebuild Kit # KDBC225KIT will work with only the Kodiak model 225 calipers for 3,500-6,000 lb axles. If no rebuild kit is available, we...

While there is not a manual or video available for the Kodiak Disc Brake Caliper Rebuild Kit # KDBC225KIT I did find an expanded drawing of the parts of Kodiak Disc Brake Caliper # KDBC225S which should help so you can see how the pieces fit. • Will A Kodiak 225 Dust Boot And Seal Fit A Tie Down 46304 Caliper
I wasn't able to find any confirmation that the dust boot and seal included in the Kodiak Disc Brake Caliper Rebuild Kit # KDBC225KIT were a compatible fit for a Tie Down 46304 caliper, but I did measure them so that if you wanted to check the sizing compared to what you have now you could see if it matches. The seal # K225S is about an 1/8" thick with an outer diameter of 2-1/2". The dust boot # K225BSSI has an outer diameter of 2-3/4" wide and inner diameter of 1-1/2" wide.

  • Do You Need To Replace The Calipers With A Dust Boot Cover That Is Cracking?
You can if you want too, however since your calipers are fine you do not need to replace them with your damaged dust boot. The Kodiak Disc Brake Caliper 3,500 lbs to 6,000 lbs # KDBC225S and similar finishes will require the Kodiak Disc Brake Caliper Rebuild Kit for 3,500 lb to 6,000 lb Trailer Brakes # KDBC225KIT which will give you all the seals, bolts, bushings, and piston needed. Once rebuilt the system can use Dot 5 brake fluid but only after removing all previous fluid and flushing the system. • Installing Rubber Sleeve Bushings from Kodiak Disc Brake Caliper Rebuild Kit
I spoke with my contact at Kodiak regarding the Kodiak Disc Brake Caliper Rebuild Kit # KDBC225KIT that you recently purchased. Before installing the rubber sleeve bushings, he recommends placing them in some warm water in order to soften the rubber. You can then rub some Palmolive soap over them to get them really slick, which should in turn make installation much easier. The old bushings can simply be pounded out. He does not recommend using any type of grease, as it can eat up the...

  • Recommended Kodiak 225 Caliper Rebuild Kit With Dust Boot
There is not any melting that is done to keep the dust seals on, but they may have used an adhesive of some sort. Normally they are just a tight fit and a small flat head screwdriver can be used with a rubber mallet to remove it. Most of the time you have to replace the seals because of wear anyway, so I recommend using the Kodiak Disc Brake Caliper Rebuild Kit for 3,500 lb to 6,000 lb Trailer Brakes # KDBC225KIT or # KDBC250KIT if you have the 7 or 8K axles and brakes.
