Troubleshooting Trailer Brake Wiring on Coupler Solenoid For Backing Up
Question:
Hello, I have connected all of my wire into the junction box. I do have trailer brakes and inside the tongue and there is a white and a blue wire coming off. I have connected the blue wire to the brake stud and the white to the ground. Why when it goes in reverse does the trailer tongue push back and luck up the brakes? Is it wired correctly?

It is not wired correctly. The wires coming out your coupler are for the reverse lockout solenoid. The wire connected to ground is correct, but the wire connected to brakes at your junction box # HS381-9000 is not correct. That pin is for electric trailer brakes and not a hydraulic surge brake coupler. You will want to connect that coupler wire to the reverse light circuit instead. This is designed to give power to that solenoid when you shift into reverse allowing that solenoid like # TK71-755-00 to keep the trailer brakes from being active when backing up.
