Video Transcript for Review of Derale Wiring Parts - Circuit Breaker 50 AMP - D16754

Ellen: Hey, everyone. I'm Ellen here @ etrailer.com. And today we're going to be taking a look at the Derale automatic resetting circuit breaker. Now, this is for your Derale fan or any other kind of accessory, but really this can be used for just about anything where you'd need to have a circuit breaker. The advantage to using a circuit breaker over a fuse is that whenever a overcharge goes through the wiring on a fuse, it's going to bust that fuse and break that little filament, whereas with a circuit breaker, if there's too much current going through this, it's going to lift up on a coil and break the circuit. But then after that cools down, it's going to rest back down and continue that connection so you don't have to replace this every time something happens.

So it's still going to keep everything safe from overload, but it's not going to require any kind of maintenance like you would with a fuse. This is rated for 50 amps, so pretty high load, which will be great for a lot of different kinds of accessories like your fans or anything else that will require that 50 amp level. We'll have two posts to worry about. One is going to be our battery connection. The other one's going to be auxiliary connection. They're labeled there.

So the auxiliary is going to be that silver post, battery connection is going to be the copper post. So this would be going to the power source, our battery, and then this silver post is going to go to our accessory that we're protecting and powering at the same time.Works with 12 volt power and pretty universal as far as the size, but also we'll give you some measurements just for reference. So overall width, about two inches, the distance between the mounting holes on that little bracket center to center, it's about one and a half inches. The distance from the bracket to the top of the posts is about one and a quarter inch. You want to be careful whenever you're mounting this, that you keep those posts away from any kind of contact with metal.

So if you're putting it in your engine bay, you want to make sure that the roof or your hood doesn't come down and make contact with those posts because it can cause some definite issues. And then width wise, it's just about 7/8 of an inch wide. The posts are about 3/16 of an inch wide. Doesn't come with any hardware except for the two locking nuts to connect our wires that, but you will have to pick up ring terminals and wire and all that good stuff somewhere else. We do have options here @ etrailer.com if you want to pick those up to go with it. But that's pretty much going to do it for our look at the Derale automatic resetting circuit breaker.

I hope this video has been helpful in deciding if this is going to be the right piece for you. And thanks for watching.

  • Lippert Ground Control Auto Level Issues
I recommend first checking your battery charge and output. These controllers are finicky and want to see 12V constant. If possible have your camper plugged in or vehicle plugged in and running when using the controller. You will also want to double check all the battery post connections as well as the power wire that runs to the Control Module # LC304136. It's also a good time to inspect the Circuit Breaker # D16754 the manufacturer was supposed to install. Make sure its rated for 50...
