Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at this Replacement Converter Section for the Progressive Dynamics 4,000 Series RV Power Control Center. Now, this part here will replace the converter section that's on the 45 Amp Progressive Dynamics 4,000 Series and Telepower Converter. This will fit the part number PD4045KA. Now, the power converter will deliver DC power to and to charge your batteries for recreational vehicles, 12 volt lighting and applying circuits. This unit here has a built in charge wizard which is a four stage charging system, constantly monitors the batteries and it'll automatically adjust your converter output voltage based on the battery's charge status.
The converter chargers capable of charging multiple batteries at the same time and it can also charge different capacity batteries at one time. This one here does include a switch to allow charging of lithium batteries. They do have built in features on this to ensure long term reliability. It'll offer electronic current limiting which will automatically reduce the output voltage to prevent overheating. It offers reverse polarity protection which prevents charger damage if your connections are accidentally reversed.
It has high voltage, low voltage protection and it'll prevent damage from AC input voltage fluctuation and it also offers automatic thermal protection which will protect from damage due to excessive heat and also, if you notice right here, you can see it has this variable speed intelligent cooling fan which will only operate under high heat conditions. It is also GFCI protected, helps prevent ground fault interruptions and it is UL listed. Few specs on this unit, input voltage is 105 to 130 volts AC, output voltage is 13.6 volts DC and the wattage on this is 725 Watts, power draw of 45 amps. Something you may not know about the existing Progressive Dynamics PD4045: I am a very active Amateur Radio "ham" operator and my RV camper is the location of my primary radio station. I am a member of a club with many other radio hams who have campers. Other hams have reported that the DC converter units in their campers generate a great deal of Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) to their radio operations. But the Progressive Dynamics units are as quiet as a mouse when it comes to radio interference. This equates to careful engineering design and production on PD's part and is much appreciated by the ham radio community. (I will mention this in my review of the Replacement Converter Section.)
I have shopped (a lot)via the net for this converter as a replacement. My previous one is not defective but does not have the "voltage bump" for Lithium Batteries. etrailer was the only one that had in the description (picture) the confirmation that it was lithium ready.
The switch was very easy, even though the instructions from the manufacturer are very generic.
Shipment to Canada was straightforward.
This is the first place I go when I'm looking for replacement or new parts for my 5th wheel or my trucks (3). They also have competitive pricing. And the reviews are really helpful !!!
So far so good. Progressive Dynamics puts a tab on the sheet metal so you can't just slide the old one out and the new one in. But it can be worked around.
My replacement order has arrived fast after the first one lost somehow. It looks good so far. Customer service was so helpful and arranged replacement shipping very fast. Package is well formed and part looks very good and new.

Excellent packaging excellent product couldn’t have been easier to install. Simply five wires a few screws. Haven’t used a lithium battery yet but charges AGM just fine.

Recieved my replacement converter section for my PD 4046 KA converter and installed it today. Delivery was very fast, communication from E Trailer was excellent and installation was drop dead simple and only takes about 15 minutes going slowly.It is currently charging my new 206 AH SOK Lifepo battery. I would have given it 5 stars but it has only been in operation for about 3 hours so I can't attest to how well it charges, although so far it seems to be doing it's job.
Converter works excellent as stated. Very easy and straight forward to install.

It is working perfectly. Completely quiet.
Very happy with the convertor and the video describing it. It arrived well packaged and no damage. It was easy to install: like 3 convertor mounting screws then the places to secure the five wires. The unit slide right in to place and fit perfect. Only doing four stars (more like 4.5) because seems slower than other places. Not a big deal. Note: the lithium/lead acid battery switch is really small, so got to look carefully for it. Overall good price and I would buy again.
Resolved a high pitch squealing I was getting when my travel trailer's interior lights were turned on. Easy install, took maybe 10 minutes.
So far, so good. Delivery was prompt. Installation instructions were straightforward. Replacing the converter solved the high-pitched squeal issue I was having, in addition to allowing full charging of my replacement LiFePo4 batteries.
Seems to be working fine. Installations was very easy and explained well. Delivery time was exceptional!
Part was exactly what I needed, it works fine, and it was about $150 less than my local RV retailer. Minor complaint - when I initially selected it, web page said it qualified for free shipping, but when I checked out I had to pay a minimum of $30 (maybe because I live in Alaska)

Converter is still working fine after one year, no issues.

Replacement converter circuit board arrived as scheduled and was exactly as described. Installation was easy and quick and went just like instructions. Powered PCS up and my problem was solved. PCS is now quiet and providing the correct DC voltage. This replacement solved a very noisy constant squeal. Super happy.

etrailer.com was extremely helpful when I called them to see about updating my 2010 RV trailer from normal lead acid/AGM batteries to lithium batteries. I found out I need to upgrade my power control center to a new power control center that would be compatible with lithium batteries. They stated the converter power control center it needed. I bought the control center and when I installed it in my RV I had an issue with the slide button switch that it comes with for changing over to lithium batteries. I slide button came off and so I wasn't able to use it. One call to Etrailer.com and a new one was sent right out to replace and exchange the broken one. I'm very happy with their service and speed of delivery to make the situation right. Thank you Lori B of etailer.com.

etrailer.com was very helpful on helping me with going from normal lead and AGM batteries to lithum batteries from my 2010 Jayco Eagle RV trailer. As I found out I needed to up upgrade my converter in order to use the Lithum batteries. If they couldn't answer my questions, they directed me to who could. I installed the converter and it works great.
A very prompt delivery and part went in without issue. Our old inverter had a hum when we used appliances and now it’s nonexistent. Very pleased with the results. Thank you.
