Video Transcript for Lippert Spare Tire Winch Assemblies Crank Extension Replacement Review

Hey everybody, Ryan here at etrailer. Today, we're gonna be checking out the Lippert crank handle, which will connect to the Lippert spare tire winch. First and foremost, this is gonna be used for a couple of different reasons, at least that I can think of. One of 'em being a replacement. Let's say, if your camper or trailer or whatever you got was already equipped with a Lippert spare tire winch and for whatever reason, this got damaged, it's direct replacement. I don't really see that happening because I mean, I don't really understand how this could get damaged but I mean, crazy things do happen.

So, if that's what you're looking for, that's your situation, you're covered with it. But, I feel like this'll be more so used when you add a Lippert spare tire winch. And that's exactly what we did today underneath a bar motor home, we did away with the old one. It was just a wing nut and bolt and kind of a big pain to use and everything else. So, we upgraded to this and whenever you get this, it does not come with the rod to allow you to turn it to actually operate the spare tire winch.

So, this is gonna slide right on the end of it. And there's gonna be a hole in it that lines up with the shaft coming out of your winch, and that's how you're gonna connect the two. So, I used a cotter pin to pair the two together. Kind of a bummer. It doesn't come with the cotter pin, so I feel like that's what most people are gonna do.

I feel like it'd be a nice touch, you know, 'cause even if you we're replacing it, you'd probably want to put a new cotter pin in, right So, if you need one, you can always grab it here in etrailer. We got a bunch of 'em. You can also weld it. If you wanted to put a tack weld on there. You know, it don't really matter.

I'd probably use the pen still that way if you did ever have to change it out, you could easily take it apart. But with that said, this is gonna run in our case, to the back of our motor home, where we can get our tool on it to actually able allow us to turn this and work our winch. The overall length of this is going to be 35 and a half inches. That doesn't mean you can't cut it down low. Say if only you needed was like a foot, you could cut it and then obviously redrill a small hole there to line up with the hole on your wind shaft to put the cotter pin in. So, it is somewhat customizable. I do wanna mention it's not gonna come with any supports or anything. This is something that I made just to brag with the hole to keep this supported since it is so long. Just throwing that out there. But at the very end of it, we're going to have a hexagon shape and that's going to be three quarters in size. So, a three quarter inch socket six point socket will fit right over this and you can operate it and use a four way or your socket and breaker bar or whatever to turn this. Or you can always pick up the tool that's designed to fit over this and operate your spare tire winch. So, this is that tool I was talking about. Has that three quarter inch socket essentially just welded onto it. And that's gonna allow you to put that through onto our P air and rotate this and either raise or lower our tire there. Other than that, though, you know, at the end of the day, this is like I said before a replacement part or honestly almost a must have for those of you that plan on adding the Lippert spare tire winch. And that'll finish up our look at of the Lippert crank handle for the Lippert spare tire winch..

It works but it is not stable until it is pinned to the frame. I checked with etrailer and Lippert and this is the only size they make. I will make a plate to keep it more stable but they really should offer different sizes for all the various wheels out there.

It's exactly what I was missing from my trailer at delivery 3 yrs ago. Up until now I wasn't able to lower (easily) the spare tire. This is an absolute must for me. Thank you etrailer for your speedy delivery of my extention.

Its been the best buy for my trailer as I had no way to get my tire to lower.

by:

Fast shipping Great service as usual.

This extension bar worked PERFECTLY for our needs!!! Thank you so much for the genius minds that do the work! Thank you again!

by:

Worked great for my application. Had to cut it to size. Instead of using a cotter pin to secure it, I drilled a hole a little bit bigger and used a stainless steel screw, 2 washers and a lock nut. Been on many over 15 trips, and it's still secure. Would recommend checking on it every trip destination and back home to make sure your spare is still secure.

The crank shaft is still secure. I would recommend using a stainless screw, 2 washers and a lock nut to secure it to your tire winch. Also, I would recommend checking your spare is secure before every trip and trip back home. Works perfectly for me. Most likely you will have to modify shorten the shift and drill a new hole to fit your application. Nothing is perfect in this world. Product works perfect. The ones who take stars off the product will never be happy. This is 100 star product if you need a shift for your spare.

I purchased my KZ Sportster 3 1/2 years ago new and never had to use the spare. I recently decided to drop the spare and inspect it when to my surprise I discovered that the extension rod was not installed. The dealer told me it must have come that way and KZ told me the dealer must have removed it. etrailer delivered it to me two days after ordering it and 5 minutes later I had it installed. At least etrailer is concerned about customer satisfaction and I appreciate the quick response and quality product.

Quik reliable service

by:

I inadvertently ordered this product twice John H. at etrailer not only emailed me but also called me unfortunately I didnt catch it untill after you were closed. I did email him back and he was able to send me RMA
I would recommend etrailer to all my friends and family
Thanks for the GREAT customer service

by:

Finally finished the project e trailers made it easy . Started with a bare frame and put on new axle springs tires and bunks, rollers and winch.
Can’t want to hit the water

by:

Easy to install, and makes access to the spare tire much more convenient. Fortunately, I haven't had to use it other than testing it after installation.

by:

a little pricey & to much packaging (raises cost). Small cardboard tube would have worked fine. Same as what fishing rods come in. Other that what I mentioned, etrailer goes way beyond on customer service, which is great for the consumer.

by:

Product exactly as needed for replacement of broken Lippert Tire Winch. Webpage should include info on Crank Extension (LC1315411) that is required for correct installation and operation.

by:

Fast shipping great service

by:

Not heavy duty and lacked a cottor pin to attach to the winch.
But I'll do .
Great price service from etrailer as usual.

by:

I had to shorten it 2” and re-drill the hole. The unit should also come with the pin to finish the installation

by:

The order was quickly done and sent and received in good shape thank you for the work

by:

Fast delivery, quality parts, great customer service

I've had this item for well over a year. The hardest test I put it through was nearly 10 degrees F. It performed flawlessly. I'm glad we bought it.

by:

Order processing was a bit slow due to the extraordinary times we are living in right now, but the customer service and delivery were as great as always. I had all my questions answered before placing the order and the order arrived in a timely manner.

If you check out the diagram I attached of the side of the Lippert Components Spare Tire Winch # LC159056 that mounts you can see that the distance between the mounting hole locations is 5-1/4" on center.
