How To Prevent Bottoming Out With Cargo Carrier on 2020 GMC Terrain

Question:

Are these hitches tested on the vehicles theyre made for ? Im asking because I purchased the Draw-Tite #76419 for my 2020 GMC Terrain. And there isnt that much ground clearance from the 2inch receiver to the ground. And thats without any weight in the vehicle. Im using it for a cargo carrier. Is this hitch going to be bottoming out everytime I hit a small bump ? Im driving from NJ to Colorado. Id like to know im not going to have issues with this hitch. Thank you.

The Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 76419 which is a fit for a 2020 GMC Terrain does sit pretty low to the ground therefore will reduce your ground clearance. There's not much that can be done for this but we can offer you the Ultra-Fab Steel Roller part # UF48-979020 which will help from tearing the hitch up.

In regards to using a cargo carrier, you'd want one with a built-in rise like the 24x60 etrailer Cargo Carrier part # e98874 with a 2" rise shank or the Reese # 63153 with a 2-1\2" rise shank. We also officer a Carpod Walled carrier # M2205-01-02 with a 5" rise shank, but this carrier is much more expensive.
