How to Prevent the Trailer Hitch from Scraping the Ground on a 2015 Subaru Legacy

Question:

Guys - I had Uhaul install a Curt 2inch hitch on my 2015 subaru legacy. It hangs down WAY too low, and I bottom out every time I drive into a driveway, over a speed bump or a toy left in the driveway. I am looking for a recommended hitch that wont hang as low. Doesnt have to be 2. My hope is you can make a recommendation, and verify that the bolts line up so I dont have to drill more holes. Thanks!

I do have an option for you but the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 13390 on your 2015 Subaru Legacy already has the highest ground clearance (10-1/4") of any other trailer hitch receiver we have confirmed to fit your vehicle. This measurement is taken from the ground to the top of the receiver tube opening on the hitch.

Instead of replacing your trailer hitch, I recommend installing a skid wheel like the Ultra-Fab Steel Roller for RVs with 2" Trailer Hitches part # UF48-979020. The skid wheel will attach to the bottom of the receiver tube on your trailer hitch and will prevent the hitch from scraping on the ground.

I have attached a review video of the skid wheel for you as well.
