This was the ONLY place I could find this spindle, and even with shipping to Canada it was a good price. It was backordered but came earlier than expected. Welded it into my axle-less trailer and I'm good to go!

  • Spindle and Hub Combination to Fit 4.80 X 12 Tires and Wheels on a BBQ Grill Build
When manufacturing axles for a wagon/trailer you will need to measure the inside of the square tube that you will be using for the axle. Once you know this measurement then you can pick the correct spindles and idler hubs. One spindle that would work well for your build would be TruRyde 1-1/2 Inch Square BT8 Spindle # TRU97FR. This spindle has a square mount shank that will fit an 1-1/2 square tube. This spindle will have to be welded to the axle. It is recommend that this be done by a...

  • How Much of a Spindle Shaft Needs to Be Inside the Axle Beam
The more of the spindle shaft you can get in an axle beam the better. There isn't really a minimum distance that I could determine for a stub such as # TRU97FR but you have to consider several factors like the weight capacity of the axle and where the wheels will be relative to the trailer frame for the spindle position. Basically, I recommend having the whole spindle shaft in the axle beam because that is how pre-fabricated axles come such as # T3584F-EZ-8974 for example.

  • How to Find Which Replacement Axle, Slipper Springs and Hubs are Needed for Small Boat Trailer
We do indeed offer some off the shelf replacement trailer axles in common lengths. In order to see if what we carry would work for your needs, I'll need some information from you. I'll need to know: Axle capacity- there might be a tag somewhere on the axle or the trailer that lists this. If not, we can make an educated guess based on the wheel bolt pattern and the reference numbers from the inner and outer wheel bearings. If the reference numbers aren't readable, you can use a digital...

  • Solution for Replacing 1-1/4" Square Axle on Boat Trailer
Your best option will definitely be to replace the entire axle. There's a decent chance that some damage was done to the axle during your recent mishap beyond the slight bend that could compromise it's integrity going forward. We don't have any square axles similar to what you described having on your boat trailer, but a really good option for replacement is a Timbren Axle-Less System like 3,500lb # ASR3500S05. With this setup you don't need to worry about finding the exact same length...

  • How to Determine The Correct Replacement Trailer Hubs by Bearing Numbers or Spindle Size
The best way to determine which replacement hubs you need for your trailer would be to remove one of the hubs and retrieve the bearings. Find the numbers stamped into the bearings and with those we will be able to get you the correct hubs. If you are unable to retrieve the bearing numbers, you can take measurements of the spindle. I have included a link to our spindle main page. At the top of the page is a diagram showing all of the measurements we would need to find the correct hubs...

  • Most Accurate Way to Measure the Length of Axle
When it comes to the bearing that rides on the spindle, there really is nothing to keep it from rotating other than the compression from tightening the spindle nut. The most accurate way to determine the length of your axle is to measure the distance from hub face to hub face (A) and spring center to spring center (B). I have attached a picture to illustrate this measurement. With only one hub on the trailer, to obtain measurement A you would need to double measurement C and add it to...

  • Can a Trailer Spindle with Grooves Still be Used if Bearing Fits
You will have to replace the spindle. Grooves that can't be taken out with emory cloth will eventually cause new bearings to fail which will leave you stranded with a locked up wheel most likely. To replace a spindle, the old one would need to be cut off, and the new one welded into place. This is NOT a job for the do-it-yourselfer. The new spindle must be absolutely square with the axle in order to prevent premature tire wear and wheel tracking problems. I would recommend finding a welder...

  • Hub and Spindle that Can Fit 10 inch Wheel with 5 on 4-1/2 inch Bolt Pattern
For a hub that is compatible with a 10 inch wheel and has a 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern you would want the Dexter part # 8-259-50 and then for a spindle part # TRU97FR .

  • Process for Changing a Damaged Spindle on a Trailer Axle
Replacement of a spindle on a trailer axle is best left to a professional installer. This is not a do-it-yourself type of project. We urge you to use a professional welder experienced in axle fabrication. Proper alignment and welding are critical to safe operation of the trailer. Depending on the condition of the axle you may be better served by replacing the entire axle/spindle assembly. Although the axle adds to the parts cost, you will save on the labor side. A new axle with spindles...

  • Do Trailer Bearings Fit Tight To the Spindle they Install On
Bearings fit pretty tight onto spindles. There basically should be no play at all between the inner portion of the bearing and the spindle. They don't fit so tight that they would have to be pressed on, but they sometimes can be tight enough that they require a bit of effort to get them totally slid on. Check out the install video I attached for more info on how bearings install.

  • How to Pick Out an Axle for a 6 x 12 Utility Trailer
Basically you will want to measure your trailer to determine where you will want the wheels of it to be so that you can pick out the correct length axle. There is not a set length of axle that a 6 x 12 trailer should take so you will have to determine about where you want the wheels to be and then measure the distance between where the mounting flange of the rims would be. The only size 3,500 lb axle we carry is the part # 35545I-EZ-89 which will have a distance of 89 inches from hub face...

  • How to Use an 18 Inch Diameter Wheel on a Trailer
I understand the look of using the same tire on the trailer as the tow vehicle but there are not going to be any performance benefits. In fact, using a passenger tire on a trailer is actually going to give you less performance than using a special trailer tire. The issue is that passenger tires do not have the sidewall capacity that is needed for use on a trailer. Trailer tires are going to experience much more flex than a passenger tire so the sidewalls need to be much stronger. I can't...

  • How to Determine what Replacement Hub and Bearing Kit
Thanks for sending a couple pictures! An agricultural spindle is mainly used in agricultural settings and best at low speeds. The best way to determine the correct parts for your homemade trailer, is to remove the hub from the trailer and either get part numbers from the inner and outer bearings and races, and grease seal or measure the spindle in 3 places and the hub in two places. I have included a photo showing the places to look for part numbers and places to measure. If the part...

  • Recommended Replacement Axle For Homemade Trailer
My recommendation is to replace the entire axle. That way you would not have any issues with replacement hubs, bearings, races, and other components you need for your trailer. I have attached a link to our product page for the axles we offer with idler hubs. You would need to measure your trailer to find the correct size axle. If you find you can use a 60 inch axle measured hub face to hub face I recommend part # 20440I-EZ-60. This includes the idler hubs with bearings, races, and seals....

I have attached a link to a product review video for this spindle you can check out. You are correct. The parts you listed, Trailer Hub Assembly, part # 8-258BTUC1, and TruRyde Trailer Spindle, part # TRU97FR, will work well together. You will want to make sure your wheel shave a 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern. I have attached a helpful article that explains how to measure the bolt pattern on your wheels. These are designed for a 2,000 lb trailer axle. You want to make certain the spindle is installed by a certified welder. The new spindle must be absolutely square with the axle...

  • Replacement Spindle With Bearings L44643 for Square Axle
Since you have a pair of # L44643 bearings and a square axle, the right replacement spindle for you would be # TRU97FR. It is recommended that replacement spindles be welded on by a qualified welder, preferably one experienced with trailer axles. Also, if you are looking to replace your bearings, races and grease seal, you would need Bearing Kit # BK1-100. I've added links to review videos on the spindle and bearing kit for you to take a look at.

We have two possible options for your 2" square axle depending on the capacity you're looking for. The # TRU97FR is for a 2,000 lb axle and the # TRU47FR is for a 3,500 lb axle. For the 2k spindle you can use the # AKIHUB-440-2-EZ-1K if you need a 4 on 4 bolt pattern or the # AKIHUB-545-2-LF-1K for a 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern. For the 3,500 lb spindle you can use the # AKIHUB-545-35-EZ-K which also has a 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern.

For your restroom trailer stub axle and wheel/tire kit request, I recommend the TruRyde BT8 Spindle 1-1/2" Square for 2,000 lb. Trailer Axles # TRU97FR. This will give you a flat surface for welding. For the hub assemblies, I recommend the Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 2,000-lb Axles - 4 on 4 # AKIHUB-440-2-1K. This assembly includes the bearings, races, seal, and grease cap. You will also want grease like # L11465. For your wheels, I recommend the Kenda 4.80/4.00-8 Bias Trailer Tire...

  • Can Trailer Spindle # TRU97FR Be Used with Trailer Hub # 34822BX
Yes, you can use hub # AKIHUB-440-2-1K with BT8 spindle # TRU97FR. These two parts are compatible. Spindles get welded onto the ends of an axle. This is a precision job because it has to be perfectly straight and concentric or the trailer will ride poorly and you will have faster tire wear and faster wear on the suspension. I strongly recommend having a qualified professional with experiencing working on trailers install the spindles. The other option is to get a whole new axle with the...

  • How to Check for a Bent Trailer Axle Spindle
Assuming your tires are in good shape without any bulges the easiest way to determine if you have a bent spindle is to take a straight edge that is longer than the tire and lay it across the tire parallel with your trailer frame and then measure the distance from the frame to the straight edge in front and back of the tire. If the distance is the same then the spindle isn't bent. Beyond that your best option would be to take the trailer to someone qualified in trailer repair to have them...

  • What Size Square Stock Should be Used with BT8 Spindle to Make an Axle
The bar stock you use should be at least the size of the square part of spindle # TRU97FR which is 1-1/2 inches. Square axles are normally found in 1-1/2 inch and 2 inch sizes and there are suspension u-bolt kits for these sizes so I would not recommend using a different size because it might become difficult to source parts.

You also need to take into account the width of the tires you intend to use as these also will increase the width of the overall combination of the axle, spindle, hub and wheel.
