I’ve been on one 600 mile trip since installing these, 1week ago. So for they are a significant improvement over the surge drum brakes.

I installed these on a boat trailer, about 4,500 lb. I was worried about having too much brake based on other reviews, so I only installed one axle. My controller is set at 3.5. Factory controller in a 2012 F350. Didn’t need the Ford/Chevy adapter, but installed it anyway.

Install took about 6-8 hours, between making brackets, mounting everything, and fitting brake lines. Installed everything in two days on the weekend.

I ended up putting about 3000 mikes on the trailer before selling it. This unit worked flawlessly the whole time. I definitely would recommend this for people looking to upgrade. For my new trailer I used a competitive brand and don’t like it quite as much. The the Titan reacts with much less brake pressure than the other brand.

I still have a little lag but works as designed

I had to upgrade my fifth wheel to a motorhome do to my wifes disability how ever every thing worked out just fine fo the short time I used it.

Excellent product! etrailer should change the name to include Ram trucks. My 2016 Ram 2500 wasn’t recognizing the EOH brakes on our boat trailer. I’ve seen other people with Ram trucks say this adapter resolved the problem. Sure enough, the brakes work just as they should now that the adapter is in place.

The part arrived but didnt have the plug and play connector. After contacting Dexter to make sure the box was the same with/without pigtail it was installed and worked as designed. Kimberly was very helpful in getting me the credit for the correct part. Thanks Etrailer.

Arrived quick, this was a replacement order for the Hydrastar controller adapter module that wasn't available until July. An Etrailer salesman recommended the Titan, which his fine, but no instructions on how to wire it in.

by:

Awesome service from ETrailer! FAST shipping and great customer service and follow up before and after the sale. Product looks well made and as advertised but have not actually tried it yet.

Got the item exactly as ordered in a timely fashion. Very pleased with the Customer Service I received. Would use "etrailer" again without hesitation.

Thanks to Michelle S., from etrailer for the fast and knowledgeable service.

  • Is Titan T4845900 Adapter Needed for Titan Brake Rite EOH Trailer Brake Actuator for Ford Truck
As long as your Ford truck is a 2013 model year or newer, the OEM brake controller is electric over hydraulic compatible which means you would NOT need the Titan # T4845900 Brake Rite SD Adapter in order to use an electric over hydraulic trailer brake actuator like the Titan # T4834100.

  • Is the OEM Brake Controller in a 2018 Ram 3500 Compatible with the BrakeRite EOH Actuator
I spoke with my contact at Titan who said that they have been experiencing some issues with the OEM brake controllers in the 2018 Ram 3500 pickups like what you have. He did say that it is hit and miss at this point so your controller may or may not work directly with the BrakeRite system but we do have a solution for you if it doesn't work properly. If you experience disconnect while using the Titan BrakeRite I Plug and Play Electric-Hydraulic Actuator Kit # T4813102 system or Titan BrakeRite...

  • Towing Multiple Trailers with EoH Brakes with Silverado Equipped with Factory Controller
You are correct that certain electric-over-hydraulic actuators are not compatible with the factory brake controllers on certain trucks, such as the one on your 2012 Chevy Silverado. You are also right that there are adapters to resolve this issue but as you mentioned they need to be wired to the actuator. The only universal solution to this issue that would stay inside your truck is installing an aftermarket brake controller that won't run into this type of problem. I do understand that...

  • Electric Over Hydraulic Brakes not Releasing
It is not necessarily that the actuator is faulty, and it is more likely to be the brake controller. I recommend checking the the wiring, specifically the stop light switch wire to ensure it is not contacting another circuit that carries 12 volt power, which would cause the brakes to constantly be on. This could be the wire being loose or somehow damaged or frayed causing a short. You want to use Circuit Tester # PTW2979 to ensure this wire only carries voltage when the brake pedal is applied....

  • How to Install the Titan BrakeRite SD and EHB Adapter for Ford/Chevy Integral Brake Controllers
The Titan BrakeRite SD Adapter, # T4845900, is going to plug in line with the wiring for the actuator so it will mount on the trailer. This particular adapter works with the Titan BrakeRite I Plug and Play Electric-Hydraulic Actuator Kit, # T4813102. The plugs are color coded on the adapter and wiring so you know where to plug it in. If you have the EHB unit but the SD adapter, just cut off the plugs so you just have the blue and white wires left over and install as described above.

  • Troubleshooting Titan BrakeRite Actuator and Adaptor Not Working After Dog Chewed Through Wires
One thing I would do is double check the wiring. Since it sounds like it works with a different truck it probably isn't wired incorrectly, but you want to make sure the same gauge wire the actuator and # T4845900 were already using or you will have problems. Outside of that I would start by checking my ground connections. Make sure they are secure on a clean, bare-metal surface. It is also a good idea to check the 7-way connection on the trailer side and the vehicle. Make sure there is...

  • Troubleshooting Brake Controller that Wont Engage Trailer Brakes in 2012 Chevrolet 2500
My guess is you're using the factory installed electronic brake controller that came with your 2012 Chevy 2500. The factory installed controllers are designed to work with electric brakes and not electric-over-hydraulic. However, there is a solution. If you're using the Titan BrakeRite # T4813102 then you will need the adapter # T4845900.

  • Will Titan SD Adapter for Ford Factory Brake Controllers Part # T4845900 Reduce Braking Time Delay
My contact at Titan advises that the Plug and Play Electric-Hydraulic Actuator Kit, part # T4813102, will begin to develop hydraulic pressure approximately 3/10ths of a second after the tow vehicle brakes are applied (and after the brake controller sends its braking signal to the actuator). It is normal for the hydraulic pressure from the actuator to take additional time to build up, travel through the lines and reach the trailer brake assemblies. An overall delay of 1 to 2 seconds is typical....

  • Will an Adapter Be Needed for Titan BrakeRite II with 2015 Ford F-350 Integrated Brake Controller
It is quite possible that you will not need an adapter for your Titan BrakeRite II in order for it to work with your 2015 Ford F-350's integrated brake controller. There should be a selector switch with the integrated brake controller for Electric Over Hydraulic brakes. This selector switch may be in the electronic menu, or a physical switch. I was unable to find much about the Electric Over Hydraulic option in the owner's manual, so if you cannot find the EOH option, I recommend contacting...

  • Does Dexter Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator Work with Ford Integrated Brake Controllers
The Dexter electric/hydraulic brake actuator # K71-651 is supposed to work with the Ford integrated brake controllers but sometimes it doesn't. A safe bet would be to use Titan EHB actuator # T4813102 with adapter # T4845900 and that set up will work for sure.

  • Electric Hydraulic Actuator or New Brake Controller for 2013 Chevy Silverado With Factory Controller
The truth of the matter is that there simply isn't an electric over hydraulic brake actuator that is going to work well with the factory brake controller in your 2013 Chevy Silverado because those controllers were designed for electric brakes only. So even with a new EOH actuator like the Titan BrakeRite I Plug and Play Electric-Hydraulic Actuator Kit # T4813102 you would still need the Titan BrakeRite SD Adapter for Ford/Chevy Integral Brake Controllers # T4845900. That would be an...

  • Does the Factory Brake Controller in a Ram 3500 Need An Adapter to Work with EOH Brakes
I called HydraStar who is a prominent manufacturer of electric over hydraulic brake actuators and they said the issue that you are having is caused by a compatibility error between the factory integrated brake controller and your electric over hydraulic brake actuator. Therefore, you will need to use an adapter. Please also make sure that you are in the electric over hydraulic mode if that is an option. In order to recommend the correct adapter I will need to know what electric over hydraulic...

  • Troubleshooting OEM Brake Controller on a 2006 Ford F-350
If your OEM controller on your 2006 Ford F-350 is a proportional controller, like the Prodigy P2 # 90885, then it will likely only send power back through the pedal when you are actually moving. The P2 has an internal inertia sensor so that it won't send a lot of power back to the brakes if you are barely moving. If you are trying to use your OEM brake controller on your F-350 and also use a Titan BrakeRite like part # T4813100 then what you are needing is an adapter. For this specific...

  • How Much Pressure Does an Electric Over Hydraulic Trailer Brake Actuator Put Out
The maximum for disc brakes and the Carlisle actuator # HBA16 is 1600 psi. If you are looking for a drum brake actuator then use # T4813102 and add the reducer # T4844100. Drum brakes require less pressure, 1000 psi maximum. The Titan actuator reaches full psi pressure in 1.3 seconds. It ramps it up from the minimum amount of pressure that brakes require up to that maximum. The pressure in the lines is going to be different and it depends on several factors like the brake line size and...

First, check the axle capacity of each axle and make sure it is 3,500 lbs. Next, check that the bearings in your hubs are # L68149 inner and # L44649 outer bearings. First I want to verify that you are using either the Titan BrakeRite SD Adapter # T4845900 for the plug and play or the Adapter Module # DX35FR for a hardwired Titan BrakeRite actuator. These adapters are needed for the factory brake controller to function properly with the BrakeRite actuator. If that doesn't correct the issue you can test the blue wire and the red wire for shorts. I have attached a link to the steps to help troubleshoot brake controllers.
