Reese Fifth Wheel Installation Kit

  • Above the Bed
  • Reese
  • Custom

Heavy-duty, custom brackets dramatically reduce the amount of drilling and time required to install your fifth-wheel trailer hitch. Outboard design ensures simple access to mounting points. Brackets, 10-bolt base rails and hardware included.

Features:

  • Installation brackets mount beneath your truck bed to provide attachment points for 5th-wheel rails
  • Base rails sit in truck bed and allow installation of 5th-wheel trailer hitch
  • Fast, simple installation with outboard design
    • Extended-length base rails allow for mounting farther out from truck frame
      • Avoids underbed components for easier access
      • Cuts down installation time by more than half compared with universal kits
    • Custom brackets mount to existing holes in truck frame, minimizing drilling and measuring
  • Thoroughly tested kit is compliant with strict Society of Automotive Engineers guidelines
  • Kit includes brackets, 10-bolt rails and Grade-8 hardware
  • Compatible with B&W, Curt, Demco Hijacker Premier Series, Draw-Tite, Hidden Hitch, Husky, Reese, and Valley above-bed 5th-wheel trailer hitches
  • Sturdy, black powder coated steel resists corrosion

Specs:

  • Base rail dimensions: 48" long x 1-7/8" tall
  • Limited lifetime warranty

Reese's outboard installation kit for your fifth-wheel trailer hitch was designed with safety and convenience in mind. Just like the original custom mounting brackets, these brackets install using existing holes in the truck frame, minimizing installation time. The biggest difference with this outboard kit is the extended-length rails. These above-bed rails are 5 inches longer than standard, universal fifth-wheel rails so that they will match up with the mounting points on the brackets, which sit below the bed and outside of your truck's frame. The result is a much simpler installation process, wherein most underbed components can be easily avoided. Because you are working outside the frame rails, you also have easier access with your tools and more room to work, making the whole process less of a pain.

The base rails included in this installation kit feature a standard 10-bolt design. Each of these rails attaches to the underbed brackets with two carriage bolts at both ends. A single bolt is used in the center of each rail to further secure it in your truck bed. The result is a set of base rails that remains firmly in place thanks to 10 points of contact.

This entire installation kit is built to be SAE J2638 compliant and has been extensively tested per specified accelerated-life-cycle criteria for fifth-wheel trailer hitches. The requirements for testing are based on the European-style test of 900,000 cycles, making this testing process among the most thorough and intensive in the industry.

The custom hitch kit fit my f150 perfectly and the etrailer staff were extremely helpful in making sure I ordered the correct kit for the year of my truck. Etrailer is an outstanding company to do business with and I would highly recommend them.

2013 Ford F-150

picked them up last weekend. haven't installed them but my other unit was for my 2013 Ford 1/2 ton and they were the over the rail brackets which I could not torque to 100 lbs.
these will be a no brainer to install.

working as prescribed it holds the 5th wheel toy hauler to the head stock and the head stock to the truck body. much better product than the original above the truck frame for torquing nuts.

Ford F-150

Very patent in regards to them answering all my concern questions. E-Trailer knew exactly what I needed for my new Ford F-150 aluminum truck bed. If the product did not fit, there was no problem to return within 60 days. Delivery was on time. The tracking system was perfect. The follow up was great. The fifth wheel was installed by others, and I am very happy with E-Trailer. Thanks Guys!!!!

2018 Ford F-150

Watch the video; makes the job more straightforward. Workmanship and quality were very good; I was dismayed to to find my parts package torn and missing a bolt. Took some real digging to find what turns out to be a very non-standard type of bolt (Grade 8 Carriage)... finally found one in a mechanics toolbox at a local trailer rental place as I needed it right away for a trip. Finally, after getting through my first installation, I could probably do it in 4 hours as there has been a lot of thought and engineering put into the custom kit. First time installers should expect spending more like 6-8 hours for the job.

Outboard installation with custom mounts is the only way to go!
Save yourself alot of grief and remove both rear wheels to install. Instruction set is not quite writen to this particular kit. For the needed tool set they require a 1.25 hole saw that you never use. The cat wisker feed wires are fantastic, give that guy a raise for coming up with that idea. Forgett the little insulator squares they give you. Use heavy clear packing tape and wrap two layers on all spacers and the fingers of the custom mounts.

Fit perfect!

Have ordered from etrailer several times never disappointed package arrived everything was in it that was supposed to be I will keep buying for etrailer.I highly recommend them to anyone looking for trailer or towing supplies. Very knowledgeable with any questions you might have.

2015 Ford F-150

I ordered fifth wheel hitch rails for my truck on a Friday and I paid for the 3 day shipping and they already arrived on Monday. Super easy to navigate the website and when I asked a question about mounting and which rails and kingpin I needed they responded very quickly!

2017 Ford F-150

Installed on my 2017 F-150 Supercrew. Not a no drill install as sold but with a couple of tools it’s a 2 hour install at most. Local RV dealer wanted 1600 for hitch and install and additional 150 for the light plug. I got it all for Etrailer.com for 850 and about two hours later I saved myself a ton of money!

by:
2017 Ford F-150

  • Does A 2020 Ford F-150 W/6.5 Bed Need A Sliding Hitch
We recommend using a sliding hitch in your 2020 Ford F-150 with a 6.5 bed. The Curt A16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ R16 Slider Item # C16521 with Reese Custom Fifth Wheel Installation Kit Item # RP56034-53 is as close as you will get to the trailer weight with a slider. It doesn't hurt to have a hitch that can handle more than the trailer.

Good news, the AirLift LoadLifter 5000 # AL88385 will work with the Reese Quick-Install Custom Base Rails # RP56034-53. You are correct when saying that the brackets of this airbag kit mount under the frame bracket of the vehicle therefore staying out of the way of the bracket needed for the 5th wheel rails. I went ahead and linked the instructions for your convenience.

  • Hitch Recommendation to Tow 32 Jazz 5th Wheel Trailer with 2015 Ford F-150 5.5 Bed
Everyone here at etrailer works very hard to provide valuable information to our customers. Thanks for the compliment! The best recommendation that I have for your situation would be to install a fifth wheel hitch in the bed of your 2015 Ford F-150 with 5.5' bed and use a sidewinder pin box on your 32' Jazz 5th wheel. For a 5th wheel hitch I suggest taking a look at the Pro Series Dual Jaw 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch with Quick-Install Custom Base Rails, # RP30928 and # RP56034-53. This hitch...

The Demco Hijacker # DM8550040 will fit 2018 Ford F-150 with 6-1/2 foot bed but not a 5-1/2 foot bed. This is a great hitch with a full slide movement of 22-1/2" but because the bed rails of the 2018 Ford F-150 sit high enough that interference is an issue, even with the hitch height set at maximum. So we no longer recommend this for the ultra-short bed Fords. For your F-150, I suggest the Reese M5 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch, # RP30928 (20K) or the 16K Reese 5th wheel hitch # RP30047 installed...
