Will a Demco Hijacker Fit 2018 Ford F-150 With 5-1/2 Foot Bed  

Question:

Hi- what rail kit would I need for installing Demco Hijacker 13k autoslide in my 2018 F-150 / 5.5inch shortbed? I see in other QandA here a Demco part #, as well as a Reese kit...does the Reese require less drillling, or is that just on the 6.5 bed model ? -Also, just out of curiosity- does the HiJacker protrude above bed rails? I have a Tri-fold bed cover, which would be nice to keep when not trailering.... -Thanks

The Demco Hijacker # DM8550040 will fit 2018 Ford F-150 with 6-1/2 foot bed but not a 5-1/2 foot bed. This is a great hitch with a full slide movement of 22-1/2" but because the bed rails of the 2018 Ford F-150 sit high enough that interference is an issue, even with the hitch height set at maximum. So we no longer recommend this for the ultra-short bed Fords. For your F-150, I suggest the Reese M5 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch, # RP30928 (20K) or the 16K Reese 5th wheel hitch # RP30047 installed using the Reese Quick-Install Custom Outboard Installation Kit w/ Base Rails, # RP56034-53. You will then of course need a rotating turret type pin box installed on your 5th wheel.

You will also want the Bargman 5th Wheel Wiring Harness, # 50-97-410-010.
