Video Transcript for Curt Fifth Wheel Installation Kit - Custom - C16441-204 Review

Today we're going to take a look at the Curt Custom Fifth Wheel Installation Kit with the Carbide Finish Rail for the Ford F-150 truck. Now this is a custom fit part. It is designed to fit the 2004 to 2014 Ford F-150 trucks with either the 6 1/2 foot bed or the 8 foot bed. Now on any custom fit part I always like to recommend for you to go to our website, use our fit guide, put in your year, model, vehicle, and it will show if this will work for your application. Now these custom brackets right here are designed to mount beneath your truck bed. They provide the attachment points for your fifth wheel rails to attach to. Now these are custom fit brackets.

They mount to existing holes in your vehicles frame. This will help minimize the amount of drilling that's required and the installation time is cut in half when compared with the universal bracket systems. Now the base rails themselves right here, these are what will attach to the mounting brackets. The base rails are what will sit in your truck bed and allows the installation of your fifth wheel trailer hitch to your vehicle. These are visible above bed rails. Now this part number happens to have nice carbide finish to them and this part does include everything shown here on the table.

The two above bed base rails, the two mounting brackets, one for each side of the vehicle, all the mounting hardware needed to install everything, and a nice set of detailed instructions. Now this kit will work with fifth wheel hitches from Curt, Draw-Tite, Hidden Hitch, Husky, Reece, and Valley. That should do it for the review on the Curt Custom Fifth Wheel Installation Kit with the Carbide Finish Rails for the Ford F-150 trucks.

Unfortunately it was missing a bunch of nuts, bolts and square hole washers. Called and they have been sent. I've improvised in the meantime to complete the install. Not so easy to install. Had to put the front carriage bolts upside down as I couldn't fit my hand between the frame and the bed to start the nut.

2013 Ford F-150

Installed in 2013 F-150 61/2 ft bed. Everything fit as it should. Directions were pretty straight forward. Have a long handled 3/4 open or box end wrench on hand. No room for ratchet . Lightly tape front nuts and spacers together and slide under bolt and start threads from above. They are carriage bolts but long enough to start threads. You'll see what I mean. All parts included, frame brackets fit perfectly. Very satisfied with Curt c16441-204 fifth wheel installation kit and etrailer. I've dealt with etrailer before and never had a problem.

2014 Ford F-150

Order arrived very quickly. Package and contents in great shape. Have not installed as of yet because still waiting on the ORDERED NEW Truck. Have test fitted to another like vehicle and see no problems. Have also test fitted my older Reese 14K 5th wheel hitch to the Curt rails, again no problems. Appear identical except for 3 additional holes in each base rail as compared to the original Reese rails. Have ordered from etrailer.com before and always satisfied with there products, service, quality, timeliness, and more.

Ellen was very good assisting me with my first purchase from etrailer.
We discussed options about 5th wheels vs gooseneck with adapter.
The recommendation was a fifth wheel, then she suggested the curt with 360 swivel and cushioned. I have been greatly pleased with this setup.
My wife and I completed the installion in 3 1/2 hrs.
I'll be doing more business with etrailer.
Thanks James
Note: have pulled 6000 lb camper about 3 trips, handles great

2014 Ford F-150

I have been using this hitch for a year now. Very easy smooth operation. There is a little noise when towing, but after I added some grease, It has been a pretty quiet hitch. Easy installation with the large brackets and very solid.

by:

So far so good haven’t had a chance to install yet but will update when I do. Everything was came in 2 boxes but looks like shipping company had a hard time with it lol boxes were pretty rough shap but looks like nothing is missing

by:
2010 Ford F-150

Had products within 5 days and this including Saturday and Sunday. The mounting brackets match up to truck perfectly. only needed to remove the spare tire. did right on the floor of my garage. It was a two person operation getting bolts. total worth spending extra to avoid drilling in to the frame. 3 to 4 hours to complete project. that includes installing the hitch and clean up.

by:

Great easy to install hawever no longer own but will be buying from etrailer for next set on new truck.

Was easy to install

by:
2013 Ford F-150

Installed in my 2013 f150. Everthing fit perfectly. Very pleased. It took longer than I figured because I have the plastic wheel wells on this pickup. And they dont come out easily. So worked around them.

by:

The brackets went on the frame with the help of included wire devices to thred the bolts through the frame existing holes. They support the rails nicely and have performed as advertised. I would buy them again.

by:
2014 Ford F-150

The product was received in three days and was well packaged. The hitch mounting kit fit perfectly and was easy to install.

This is an excellent product at an excellent price. Shipping price was very good also! I have recommended etrailer.com to all my family and friends.

Got the fifth wheel home (3 hr trip) after purchase, then it sat for the last year. No issues except no place to go for a year. Hopefully, this year will be better,

by:
Ford F-150

The product was very well built. It was a fairly easy install on my F-150, the only real problem was installing the front bolt of the rail it is in a tight area. Price was exceptional compared to local RV store, I like buying local but $100 dollars in savings had to buy at etrailer. Sales staff excellent and price awesome!

by:

Nice install everything fit just right. Product is everything they said instructions were clear and easy to follow. The shipping was right on time and everyone at Etrailer was very helpful I would order from them again .

by:

  • Will Curt E16 5th Wheel Hitch with Universal Rails Fit a 2008 Ford F-150
In order to use the Curt E16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # C16115 on a 2008 Ford F-150 you'll want the Curt Custom Fifth Wheel Installation Kit for Ford F150 part # C16441-204. The Curt E16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch with Rails and Universal Installation Kit part # C16116 will fit, but the universal frame bracket require drilling into the frame which makes installation much harder and the custom bracket bypass all this as they bolt on so that is what I recommend. That said, either will work.

You are on the right track! You do need a slider hitch so that you'll have enough clearance to make tight turns and a custom install fifth wheel rail kit is the way to go as it will minimize drilling and install time over a universal kit. For a custom fit fifth wheel rail kit confirmed as a fit for your 2013 Ford F-150 6-1/2 foot bed that would work well with the Curt E16 Slider part # 16516 that you mentioned you'd want the part # C16441-204 and you'd be set. • Does Slider Hitch Need to be Moved While Towing
When towing with the sliding Curt E16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # 16516 you slide the hitch back towards the tailgate any time you need to make a sharp, slow-speed turn which includes while towing, yes. The towing position is with the hitch closest to the cab of your 2011 Ford F-150; you will need to lock it in that position in order to tow so it should not be with the hitch back closer to the tailgate. You will need base rails in the bed of your '11 F-150 and the best option for you is...
