Features:

  • Qty: (2) Diodes
  • Reduces wiring hassles
  • Trouble free operation
  • Includes detailed wiring instructions
  • Maximum load is 85 amps per diode

Note: 4 Diodes are required for most applications (1 left turn/brake, 1 right turn/brake, 2 for tail lights - each side).

Video Transcript for Roadmaster Tow Bar Wiring RM-792 Review

Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at the ROADMASTER Hy-Power diode. Now, this will allow motor homes or RVs to power the lights on the tow vehicle without power feedback. The diodes allow electrical current to flow in one direction. So, that'd be from the motor home to the vehicle or to the car. This prevents any electrical feedback and the damage it may cause to the electrical components. This is available in a variety of quantities, so you can get a one pack, a two pack, three pack, or four pack. All options are available at etrailer.com.

For a one pack, use part number RM-790, for a two pack, use part number RM-792, for a three pack, use part number RM-793 and for a four pack, part number RM-794.The spade connectors allow for easy, trouble free, wiring connections. Also, on the back of the packaging, it has detailed wiring instructions, so that's really going to be helpful. So, when you get these, please do not discard the packaging because it has the nice wiring instructions on the back side. The aluminum heat sync helps prevent over heating. The self stick pad on the back allows for easy and secure mounting. Maximum load is 85 amps per diode and please note that four diodes are required for most applications, one for the left turn and break, one for the right turn and break and then two for the tail lights, one per side. That's going to do it for today's look at the ROADMASTER Hy-Power diode..

Used on a trailer to add a strobe function on my existing trailer lights, and not backfeed to the truck. Has worked great for over a year now, in snow and rain it hasn’t failed.

by:

Good product with excellent service! I can now use my reverse lights as work lights without back feeding my truck. Works great to correct those who have a have a habit of driving behind you with high beams on....

by:

I purchase these to set up my toad (CR-V) with the Road master 7 to 6 wiring kit along with the 2 back into 3 wire module to allow for me the use the turn signal lights (Yellow) operate separately from the brake lights so that the toad lights all work as they were set up by the manufacturer. This way also allows you to avoid having to buy the brake light relay if your vehicle brake lights are energized by the mechanical function of your braking system. Your overall cost is relative and as stated all of your lights work instead of the typical stop/tail/turn signal bulb on each side.

still great looks and works professionally

by:

Can use these for allot more than just a towed vehicle. I used them for my loading lights on my trailer to help with backing the trailer at night. Just pulled reverse power wire from 7 pin to original cargo light wiring. Works great.

by:

I bought these diodes to replace two that the connectors corroded to the point the taillights on the towed vehicle wouldn’t work. The old ones lasted 6-7 years which is pretty good. When I hook up the new ones I’m going to put some waterproofing over the connectors.

by:

Bought these diodes formy license plate lights on my toad. The wiring kits only come with 4 diodes which would not allow the license plate lights to be light when towing.

by:

Product worked as advertised tail lights on my Jeep work great when towing with my RV.
Diode packaging has helpful wiring diagrams on back.

1950 Spartan Royal Mansion. Thank you for your ongoing help and wide array of products!!!

by:

I was very impressed with the trailer.com… Not only was the ordering very simple and effective and done in less than a few minutes I received the package in a very timely manner! Also I called the office spoke with Michelle and got the best customer service possible with an additional order… I will highly recommend etrailer.com to all of my friends!

by:

Easy to install and worked as advertised. Installed 6 diodes and Curt inverter inside tail lights vs. inside of vehicle having to remove panels. Saved hours of work.

by:

I just installed them and they work as they should. I was isolating lighting on an equipment trailer for a brake and turn circuit. Now it does not backfeed.

by:

Easy to install them in my old jeep wrangler for the flat towing!

by:

I haven't installed the product yet, but it was exactly what I needed. Diodes of this type are not the easiest thing to find. Etrailer had them, and not only is their website laid out well, but the service and shipping were very fast.

by:

I am very happy with the product, I installed them and now my lights work great.
I was very please with my customer service rep. she knew her product line and worked with me to fix my problem. Thanks

by:

Response to phone calls quickly and knows what he’s talking about

by:

Perfect for connecting the tail lights from my RV to my car on the car dolly.

by:

Product worked exactly as expected. Very clear and detailed instructions. Great service and shipping as usual from e-trailer.

by:

These diodes are easy to work with and looks great. The only issue I had with them was the self stick pads weren't great.

by:

Product as advertised. Must wrap with tape and use dialectic grease to prevent failure of this part. Other then my haphazard initial wrapping, the product worked very well.

by:

I needed these to wire a TOAD (tow vehicle). They have worked as advertised.

The plus is that they are quality products.

The con is that they are not cheap.

  • Replacement Diodes For A 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL
If the diode is bad then you can replace it with the Roadmaster Hy-Power Diodes (Qty 2) Item # RM-792. A bad diode does not allow current to flow in either direction. A multimeter will display OL in both directions when the diode is opened. A shorted diode has the same voltage drop reading (approximately 0.4v) in both directions. Since you have the wiring all pulled out it's also a good time to check for any kinks or cuts in the wiring and replace/repair as needed.

  • Flat Tow Wiring for a 2013 Mini Countryman
Your 2013 Mini Countryman uses a 3-wire lighting system. That means there is a wire for the turn signals, stop lights, and taillights. You will need to install a diode on each of these circuits to prevent power backfeed. If you take a look at the attached photo/article this will give you a better idea of how to wire them properly. If you need an additional two diodes for the extra wires you can use part # RM-792.

  • Solution for an RV That Has Two Circuits Overlapping Each Other
If I understand you correctly you're saying that a signal that feeds your door to open is also simultaneously feeding your fire alarm and causing the both of them to activate. Seeing as though you don't want your fire alarm activating every time your door opens I can see the issue. All you're going to need then, is to install a set of diodes # RM-792 to separate the signals. These diodes will work with your 24V system as they have a 24v maximum voltage rating, and also has a max amperage...

  • Do I Need Diodes When Using Utility Light as Reverse Lights
Yes, I recommend to use the Roadmaster Hy-Power Diodes part # RM-792 to prevent electrical feedback since you are using the lights for both utility lights and reverse lights. A diode has 2 inputs and one output and will allow power to only flow one way. I have attached a diagram for your reference.

Yes the Roadmaster InvisiBrake Supplemental Braking System Item # RM-8700 will connect directly to your towed vehicle's battery and charge it while driving unlike most braking systems that would actually drain your battery. Some notes to consider on this product are: This product does not work on vehicles with a non-electric hydroboost braking system. • Recommended Tow Bar Wiring for Separate Wiring on Both RV and Toyota Tacoma
For your 2002 Toyota Tacoma, I recommend the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267. This kit will allow you to wire your Tacoma to accept the RV's tail, brake, and turn signal lights for flat towing. Since you have separate wiring on both the RV and vehicle, you will just need to install 2 additional Diodes # RM-792. I have attached an image that clarifies the wiring on a separate to separate application. In addition to the tow bar wiring, you will also need...

  • Can One Diode be Used Instead of Two If Tapped Into After a Splice
Yes, the Roadmaster Diode part # RM-792 or part # RM-690 can be installed after the two reverse light circuits are already spliced together. The diodes are basically just a one way check valve for electricity so as long as you are not exceeding the circuit then you will not have any issues.

  • Diodes For Roadmaster Diode Wiring Kit RM-15267 to Toyota Yaris & Motorhome With Separate Lighting
Thank you for your purchase from etrailer of the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267. Since your motorhome and Toyota Yaris both have separate lighting, you will need extra parts, which are just two additional diodes: - Roadmaster Hy-Power Diodes (Qty 2) # RM-792 I have added below the only complete wiring diagram available which shows the wiring. The unconnected wires do not terminate, you will use a jumper to connect them.

  • Does Roadmaster InvisiBrake for 2012 Jeep Wrangler Require Additional Diodes
Your 2012 Jeep Wrangler will need the Roadmaster Hy-Power Diodes # RM-792 with the Roadmaster InvisiBrake Supplemental Braking System # RM-8700 if your wiring kit is a 2-diode kit. We don't carry the Cool Tech wiring and I was unable to find out how many diodes it uses, but put simply if it is a 2-diode system instead of four, then you will need a pair of extra diodes, the Roadmaster Hy-Power Diodes # RM-792. • Is a Converter Needed For a Flat-Tow Wiring Harness On a 2020 Toyota Tundra
The flat-tow trailer wiring harness I recommend for a 2020 Toyota Tundra is the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit part # RM-15267 which comes with everything that you need. In regards to the converter, this won't be required. The Tundra does have a separate lighting system which means the stop and turn signals are on separate circuits. • What Diode Is Needed To Allow Rear Trailer Switched Auxiliary Lights To Operate When In Reverse?
You will want to use a single Diode # RM-790 for connecting your rear utility lights as reverse lights also. You will be able to place this diode near your existing light switch and run the wiring from your 7-way to there. This will eliminate having to have a diode at each switch with the Diode Pair # RM-792. You would only need to run an additional ground if your battery for the lights is not grounded to the trailer frame.

Diodes like the Roadmaster Hy-Power Diode # RM-790 are designed to keep circuits from backfeeding into each other so this should work just fine for 2 inputs and 1 output. If you need 2 of these diodes we have them kitted together as part # RM-792.

In regards to the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit part # RM-15267, this kit is designed to carry signals from the motorhome to the towed vehicle. The motorhome's trailer wiring is a combined circuit so that is how it will be transferred to the vehicle. Although it would be easier to install the diodes like part # RM-792 on the trailer connector, for the InvisiBrake # RM-8700 to work properly the diodes need to be installed at the rear of the bulbs. • Can Diodes be Used to Combine Brake Lights and Turn Signals
What you need is a converter to take the separate turn and brake light circuits and combine them. You will need converter # RM-732. It will take the separate signals and combine them so on the output side you have a green wire for right turn and brake and a yellow wire for left turn and brake. A diode is just a gate. It cannot discern the difference between the brake signal and the turn signal. So if you were turning left or right and braking at the same time chances are the higher draw...

No, the purpose of the Roadmaster Hy-Power Diodes # RM-792 is to allow electrical current to flow in only one direction - from the motorhome to the car - preventing electrical feedback.
