Recommended Tow Bar Wiring for Separate Wiring on Both RV and Toyota Tacoma

Question:

I have a 2002 Toyota Tacoma that I tow behind my motor home. Both the motor home and the Toyota have separate rear turn signal and brake lights. What parts are needed to make the proper electrical connections? Thanks in advance.

For your 2002 Toyota Tacoma, I recommend the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267. This kit will allow you to wire your Tacoma to accept the RV's tail, brake, and turn signal lights for flat towing. Since you have separate wiring on both the RV and vehicle, you will just need to install 2 additional Diodes # RM-792. I have attached an image that clarifies the wiring on a separate to separate application.

In addition to the tow bar wiring, you will also need a base plate kit, tow bar, safety cable set, and a supplemental braking system in order to flat tow your Toyota Tacoma. If you are still needing any of these items, please let me know and I will be happy to make some recommendations. I have also attached an article on flat towing that you might find helpful.
