Video Transcript for Lippert Components RV and Camper Steps LC379147 Review

Today we're going to take a look at the Lippert Components Kwikee Motor and the Screws for a New IMGL Steps. Now this Kwikee Motor and Screws is for the new IMGL Steps that are manufactured after October 2005. And the IMGL and the step stands for Integrated Motor Gearbox and Linkage. This is designed to help the step automatically extend when you open your RV door and retract when you close your RV door. This is the direct replacement for the older model Lippert number, number 366043.And this motor will automatically shut down if the step does strike an obstacle. The actual part number on this Kwikee part number is 1101428 and it does come with the three mounting screws to install it.But that should do it for the review on the Lippert Components Kwikee Motor and Screws for a New IMGL Step.

etrailer customer service is 5 star however kwikee step motor and gear box are poor design, short life span. Uses a metal gear meshing to plastic gear is terrible engineering. I replaced 3 motors and 1 gear box on 2 different Tiffin in 10 years. I’m sure some owners have had better luck but hasn’t been my case and according to social media a lot of people post step problem. I ordered my last motor from etrailer because along with my 10 year history with buying from etrailer if you call them they make sure you buy the correct part. They ship on time and I have never had a problem with them but confident if I did it would get resolved quickly and satisfactorily.

by:

The removal and installing of the replacement motor was easy except two things. One the step was in the retracted position and I had a difficult time trying to remove the pin to let the step down. The second issue was disconnecting the power from the motor.

by:

Very helpful with installation when I was having trouble aligning connections!

by:

The support people with etrailer were very helpful with this product. The motor on the steps on my motorhome would not stop when the steps were retracted. Unfortunately the part numbers on my step assembly did not match the manufactures drawings. With there help we figured out witch motor to order. The steps worked as they should.

by:

Thanks Brittany for assisting me with this order. The motor works great easy installation. etrailer is a great company to work with.

by:

I have ordered multiple parts for our business from etrailer and have been pleasantly surprised at how quick the service is. So far all my items have shipped the next day! I plan on using them frequently.

by:

I had my automatic stair start making a terrible noise and came to the conclusion that it would need to be repaired. I ordered the motor and gearbox for it from E-trailer and received it on the date that they said I would. The new parts went together perfectly and a precise fit into the motorhome, after connecting it up, it worked just great. Thank you for offering and having all the correct parts for my RV. Bill

My satisfaction has not decreased at all, the stair is still operating perfectly. Thanks again. Bill

by:

Ordered a replacement motor for Kwiki steps. Package arrived timely, the motor was an AM brand and matched the original. Installation was straightforward and the steps, previously not fully retracting, are back to working properly.

by:

As before, etrailer has come through again. Thank you for your helo in buying a replacement motor for our electric steps.

by:

Exact replacement for my 2002 Holiday Rambler Vacationer DBD.Very satisfied with Kwikee step motor LC379147.

by:

This is the third drive system I have put on my stairs in 5 years. Replacement is easy, thank goodness etrailer delivers to campgrounds.
Every mechanical device has a weakest link. For my style of stairs, it is the plastic ‘driven gear’ in the motor drive. Too bad they don’t make a stronger gear snd use a shear pin that could be replaced with a $1.00 part

by:

Terri was pleasant to talk to. Excellent communication after the order as to tracking. This was pretty simple task (3 bolts). Took a few minutes and worked great. There was nothing wrong with my original step motor, I put this one on because it has a feature that lets the step retract if it hits an object..such as a curb..I'll use my old one for an emergency spare. Thanks again for the great customer service.

by:

Worked well. If you here grinding noise on your steps it is the motor gear box not the main gear box. I made the mistake and ordered the gear box with out inspecting it. I just needed the Motor

by:

Etrailer always provides prompt shipment

by:

ETrailer is always my fall back. They save me so much time and money because they have the items I need at really good prices.

by:

I was having trouble getting replacement motor for steps on my Motorhome and was told mine were obsolete and I would have to upgrade, this would be substantially more expensive.
I talked to Alex and told the situation and he was able to get correct motor replacement. I can’t say enough how much knowledge he has regarding parts and was so pleased I put him in my contact list

by:

My steps got stuck retracted back in May. A friend and I troubleshoot and initially we believed it to be the motor, but after removal it worked, so I replaced the Control Module instead. Steps were working until I got to the camp site and once again they got stuck retracted, I tapped on the motor a couple of times and it extended. As soon as we got it home it happened again, so I ordered the motor. Took me about 10 minute to change out; ensure you bring the old motor straight down so you don't drop the gear and pin from it, those will need to be transferred over to the new motor before installation.

by:

Just installed the part, works fantastic. Easy to install yourself, reasonably priced. Saved hundreds diy.

by:

Emily did a great job getting the correct part for my motor home. The electric motor and gearbox for my motor home steps fit and worked perfect after I installed them. I am an 84 year old man and had no problem installing the electric motor and gearbox for my steps.

by:

Thank you all so much! Every time I have needed something from you, it has been a great experience.
Thanks

by:

I haven't installed it yet,but am confident that it will work fine. Parts can be difficult, but etrailer not only had the part but also followed up to make sure it solved my problem.
So, thank you.

by:

GREAT JOB!!! I told Christina J I needed to replace a weak motor for our Kwikee step on our 36ft motorcoach & I needed it in 3 days. She got it done! Replacing it was an easy 10 minute job. THANK YOU !!!!
Works like new. I've used their services in the past & have never been disappointed.

by:

Part functioned as advertised.

by:

This was the correct part for my RV steps. I was able to remove the old step electric motor and install the new one from etrailer with no problems. A year later and the electric motor is running like a champ.

  • Where To Start When RV Steps Make Noise and Wont Fully Retract/Extend
It could be a few things but it depends on what steps you have. The motor could be bad but I'd be more inclined to think there's a linkage or gear issue that's basically bogging down the motor preventing the steps from fully retracting or extending. I'd first try visually inspecting the steps from underneath to see if you can see anything obvious that's bad. Also while down there try to get any part number info that you can. Next try moving far enough out of the way of the path of the steps...
