Troubleshooting RV Steps Making Noise When Extending and Need Help Retracting

Question:

When my steps deploy they go down and make a loud noise like the gear is slipping, and lasts for about 3 or 4 seconds and then stops. When the steps retract they wont go up by themselves, you have to push them in, then they go up and make the same loud noise for a few seconds. The motor is LCI PN 336043 and the coach is a 2018 Fleetwood Bounder 35P.

If your RV steps are making a noise and then they won't retract without some help then you definitely need to replace the motor. For your LCI 336043 the direct replacement is # LC379147.

Should you continue to hear a clicking noise then we may need to look into some other replacement parts, but I think just replacing the motor should do the trick.

I reached out to my contact at Lippert and for your particular Kwikee step assembly the correct replacement motor is part # LC379608.
