This is an excellent quality cable, it stays pliable in cold weather and the plug is snug and so stays connected. Prior to installation I used an ohm meter on each conductor to check each one and to verify what conductor what to which connector. Once verified it was an easy installation.

Its been a year, Ive done eight weeks of camping and the cable has performed well and still looks good, there are no signs of weathering. I expect to have at least several years of trouble free use. I do put the plug into a protector cap when not connected to the tow vehicle. I believe this helps to keep the contacts from oxidizing and losing a connection and encourage you to consider doing the same.

The junction box provides adequate room for wiring terminations and weatherproof covering of them. The harness for transmitting power to the trailer is of robust design with LED lights indicating proper power to the various end uses. A stainless steel u-bolt was used to secure the harness to the trailer frame and thereby eliminate stress on the junction box. Stainless steel machine screws were used to attach the Breakaway Battery Box to the trailer frame. A stainless steel quick connect will be used to secure the Breakaway switch to the vehicle. The red lead supplies 12 volt power to the Breakaway battery.

by:

Excellent quality cable, nice length, and the LED test lights are a nice extra feature!

Up graded my stock p.o.s. Whip with this one.
I like how I don’t have to have someone check my lights, as it shows when it’s good or not getting a connection.

Still working great

Wanted a water tight connection for my travel trailer.
Had issues with water corrosion.
Also being 8 foot allows me to locate connections to the trailer in a better place to be accessible.

by:

Shipped cheapest ground UPS because I was not in a hurry. Arrived quickly. I took steps to compare the pigtails and all wires COLORS matched exactly my 5th WP. My old one was all brass connectors and had corroded enough to lose connection while driving down roads. It may have been simply the center of the female receptacle center that needed to be pushed slightly together to create a better pinch grip on the center pin from the cable male end. Regardless, this was a quick replacement color wire for color wire. IF NOT; I WOULD HAVE MADE A HAND-DRAWN DIAGRAM TO FOLLOW. I LOVE THE LED LIGHTS Keep reading for steps I used to replace. First took clear phone pictures of the existing wire connections. Next step to remove existing has options. You could simply carefully select each existing pigtail cable wire and cut it leaving behind all existing trailer wires with a piece of each wire intact left behind as you remove the existing pigtail cable. If you don't cut the old pigtail wires this project could get confusing. My wires were all connected using wire nuts in a small 4" square electrical box. STOP - the first step is to disconnect the battery and all power so you don't spend hours trying to find a fuse you blew. Okay back to the electrical box with the existing wires with the wire nuts still intact. I put the new cable into the 4" electrical box and one-by-one connected the new cable. Some of the existing wire nuts had up to 4 other existing wires in each. Since all my colors matched, I did not take a picture. I just cut existing out and new in; about 10 minutes but 30 minutes total with wife helping test all lights, brakes, turn signals, etc. I LOVE THE LED LIGHTS that helped me figure out that my ground was losing connection if I pushed the plug a little to the sideways. I pinched the center blades together in my receptacle and now know it is possible my existing cable was not bad. (I had forgot to unhook and drove off a couple times and I though that might have stressed internal pigtail wiring causing intermittent "trailer disconnected" warning on my truck dash lights. By the way, this new cable does not show any brass connectors. Yes, I would buy again and would recommend to my friends and might hide from my enemies. I did find a lower price elsewhere but this one with LED was best option for my needs to know that this product is sending electric power to my trailer brakes, lights, and battery on my 5th Wheel camper. Full timer over 2 years so far.

I have used this for about a year now AND the LED lights on the connector have been great to have. Twice, so far, my truck has said I did not have trailer brakes connection. The lights verified. The connection wiring in the truck have been replaced and the LED feature helped me with a truck warranty claim.

by:

Wrong length I thought it was supposed to be 8’ it was only 7’5” but it looks like a good cable just couldn’t use it camper world had an 8’ plus so that worked better for me

by:

High quality product used to replace a lower quality harness installed by the RV manufacturer. I was having intermittent “check trailer brakes” on my dashboard display. Suspected a wiring issue. Founded crashed insulation on the blue trailer brake wires in the travel trailer junction box for all functions. Repair complete and no repeated error messages. The LED system status lights provide instant information that the truck is providing al proper electrical signals and power for the travel trailer.

Awesome!

by:

Using to replace factory pigtail which is short, causing loss of connection in turns. Would be better if wiring instructions were included.

by:

Product arrived in good condition. I'm certain it's going to work perfectly.
The plug is a heavy rubber compound with the LEDS molded into the handle. Great looking and feeling over all. I got the 8' wire to replace the travel trailer cord that got pinched.
I chose this style because I didn't have a volt meter with me and ended up spending an extra 2 hours to figure out the repair I made was good and that I had blown the fuses. The LEDs will save me if it happens again

Been working great Still has all the indicator lights on the plug itself. We only use our trailer 6 to 8 times a year so, not really sure that my usage would really count as being used but, yeah it still works as expected.

by:

Great 7 pin harness, high quality and LEDs help in solving problems.

by:

I don't know if you are interested
or not but the trailer pigtail connector configuration is somewhat confusing regarding single-blade vs double-blade contacts on the different brands of pigtails and what tow vehicle 7-way receptacle brand that they fit. I assumed that they were all compatible but that is not the case. I've had many issues with "Trailer Disconnected" errors using the double-blade configuration pigtail that came on my travel trailer. The Hopkins 20087 pigtail seats so much better and seems to have resolved the errors issue.

by:

exactly what I ordered and very fast sh ipping

by:

90 day warranty and I didn’t use it in those 90 days. Truck keep getting error of trailer disconnect. Traced it to no connectivity on one wire. I cut the plug off and put a new one and never looked back.

by:

Absolutely love this harness! I kept getting the trailer disconnected message from my TT. This solved it and the LEDs show you what power is beeing sent from the truck. I gave 4 stars because there should be a diode because the AX light stays on even when it is unhooked from the truck and will not show if the truck is charging the TT because of the TT battery.

by:

The cord I received is only 4 foot long. Second product sent that was wrong, the part that makes me upset is that I had to pay the cost to have the first one sent and send it back. The RV is in my driveway and I opened the box tonight to get ready to install it in the morning and it wrong.

by:

The molded end helps keep water out and the LEDs let you know you have voltage to the plug if a light doesn't work.

by:

I ordered the product thinking I would have a number of days to complete other projects. The product arrived so quickly that I was not ready to install it. I had searched for this product and very few places (RV supplies sell it). I was glad when I found it on etrailer.

The product is as advertised and was very easy to install. The LED's are a quick method of determining the condition of your wiring and signals both from your tow vehicle and from your travel trailer. I would highly recommend it when you need to replace your cable. It is very reasonably priced.

by:

While more expensive than some other trailer whips, this one fits the truck better than most. The LED lights are somewhat useful, but not necessary.

by:

I love this harness! It is built extremely well and it has every wire that you will ever need. it also has confirmation LED lights on the connector! This makes it extremely easy to to trouble shoot any malfunctions. I put it on all my trailers.

by:

Great product. Heavy duty cable. Liking that I can keep a eye on 7pin is getting power to it by just looking at the test lights.

by:

Great harness. Only drawback was that a single indicator light does not work. It does not impact the circuit, but the LED on the plug does not show when circuit is active.

by:

Another home run for etrailer! After replacing trailer wiring several times over the years, I finally found a replacement that will last
The harness is very well constructed ( better than expected)! The cable is well protected and durable. The 8 foot length is perfect for most any application to get wires right back to trailer. No more blinking lights!

by:

Wiring pigtail works very well. A little hard to plug into

The wiring pigtail work very well. A little hard to plug into Ford bed outlet.

by:

The trailer cord worked out very well. All the color coated wires matched nicely with the wiring on the camper. Well worth the cost of the replacement cord.
