Excellent upgrade for collapsing the tongue of a trailer. I used this on a galvanized boat trailer and the install is pretty straight forward. I used a sawzall with a metal blade to make the cut (make sure all wires or brake lines are clear before cutting) and it worked perfectly. Just take your time and make the cut straight. I have towed the boat several times since this addition and there’s no issues. No play in the junction so no annoying rattling. I was very happy to finally complete this project. Makes so much more room in my shop not walking around a long boat trailer tongue and allows me to fit other items in front of the trailer if needed inside the shop.

Watched a good video before I started-make sure you have good drills (16 holes)
I used a 1/4-3/8 then the 1/2 I think that helped alot. One thing I would receommend of the manufacturer that they mark the "trailer" portion of the swimg away and the "tongue" portion I was a little confused on that.
I am very happy with the results was able to get my old boat into a shed it previously was too long for I was able to shorten the tongue approx 32".
The etrailer folks were top notch with their service and ability to answer any questions I had. I only have one pic of the folded up tongue attached

Very nicely made unit. It was slightly larger than my trailer rail but I just shimmed it with some aluminum. Just remember that you will probably have to add some extra safety chains and have a good supply of sharp drill bits to make holes in your trailer.

Pretty easy to install if you have the right tools. Boat now fits in garage without needing to be at an angle and in the perfect spot. Picture is before I got the new safety chains and wiring installed. Make sure to get loom to protect the wire at the joint and possibly upgrade wire quality. I went with Wesbar 787268 and a braided wrap.

My son purchased this product which I installed on my EZ Loader trailer. Took a few hours but I like a project. Its been great, allowing me to easily park my boat in the garage with room to spare. Just wish I had installed it earlier. When I installed, I also replaced my brakes (the entire brake plate, etc), bled the brake line and installed the flex line needed for the swing. Got all the accessories from etrailer. Great service and just recently ordered some lights as well.

What a great product! And it's made in the U.S.A. Excellent quality, just as you would expect from an American made product. Fit & finish are very good, and the instructions were well detailed and easy to follow. Kit was complete with special tools needed for installation, and was not missing any parts. Took a little under 4 hours, and that included time to relocate trailer tongue jack to a new location. Looks like it was factory installed, and was considerably cheaper than adding 3" to the back of my barn. Now I can just fold the tongue (shortens trailer by 27 inches) and close both the front and rear barn doors. As the photos show, all that's left is to add the new, longer safety chains. Thanks for a great solution to my problem.

Your product was a tremendous package. The trailer I installed it on carries a 1976 Cobalt 19DV that I have owned since new. The trailer is a Calkins single axle 4000lbGW. I have paid over 15K in storage fees for the over 37 years I have owned this boat. I wasn't aware of a product like this until I happened to see a trailer at a Bass Pro Shop in Branson MO while on a vacation trip. The trailer had a swing tongue not your product but it got me thinking and after returning home I found your product on the internet. Can't believe how great the application fit and the ease of installation(after drilling holes of course). I have on single car garage that I tried to store the boat in but the tongue was to long to be able to close the door. After this installation the trailer fits perfect. Great product would recommend to anyone.

Haven't put it on yet, maybe this week. I purchased a new boat April 1st of last year, knowing that I would need the coupler hinge kit to garage store it. The boat is in the garage, but I had to cut the tongue off to be able to shut the overhead door. Now I can install the coupler just in time for boating season. I knew the problem wasn't etrailer's making.

Called customer service and Kim who was awesome,
Helped me out right away, package came open during delivery and pin fell out, post office did not put the part back in and taped box shut.

Bought this to fit my new-to-me boat in my garage. Installed very easily and it helps to have a second set of hands. As others have mentioned, it does have a little play up and down, but it's nothing noticeable when towing. The coupler pin sits pretty snug and there isn't any play in mine.

- Availability of Coupler Hinge Kit that Could Fit 2003 EZ Loader Trailer We do have coupler hinge kits available but what your 2003 EZ Loader trailer would need depends on the dimensions of your trailer's tongue. The part # FHDPB330301 is for 3 inch by 3 inch tongues, the part # FHDPB350101 is for 3 inch by 5 inch tongues, and part # FHDPB340301 is for 3 inch by 4 inch. So you'd have to measure your tongue to see which option would work best for you.

You could just get some half inch steel plates and increase the width of the tongue enough to accommodate the coupler hinge. If you run a bolt through the middle on both sides of the coupler hinge as well then you can lock the steel plates into place without having to weld. You'd just have to snake your brake line (if you have surge brakes) around the bolts.
