The product worked as described and will be in my tool box for future emergencies. Mike did the extra mile after being unable to find this unusual item while we were on the phone. After we hung up he continued to search for this tool and about an hour later called me back to let me know he had located one and could expedite the shipping, thanks for all the help.

by:

Found what I was looking for. Of course it was more expensive than what I had expected but then with the current administration what wouldn’t be!

by:

Exactly what I needed and was quickly d elivered.

by:

Great product for safety on the road with trailer carrying a large pontoon boat. The lockout key worked as described, allowing us to slow as needed without locking the trailer breaks. I've now got a couple of lockout keys in case one or a couple get misplaced.

by:

The item is exactly as expected, no surprises and does exactly what you’d expect it to do… we bought it as a back up, in case someone decides to steal our magnetic one again, as you can’t back up our Extreme Trailer without one.

by:

Item works great, as advertised

by:

Looks like it will work

by:

As usual, etrailer provided what I needed and in record time. This product is great to have when trailer wiring, etc don't function ptoperly

by:

Works good

by:

Perfect for my UFP surge brakes.

  • Replacement Solution for UFP A-60 Breakaway Key and Cable
The Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator part # DX89FR for disc or part # DX33FR for drum will work to replace both a UFP A-60 or A-75 Brake Actuator since we don't carry the UFP replacement breakaway setup. The A-60 is rated for 6K and the A-75 is rated for 7.5K. The Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator is rated for 7.5K. Now if you needed just the key we can help with that with part # DX94FR and then for just a cable part # FA80-01-2160.

  • How Do You Back a Boat Trailer On The Boat Ramp When The Electric Lockout Is Unplugged?
You typically have a couple options Steve. The most commonly used is just waiting until the boat is on the ramp and then unplugging the wiring. This way you can let gravity take the boat down the ramp rather than pushing it with your truck. Another option which will depend on your surge brake is a manual lockout like the Key # DX94FR. This prevents the actuator from sliding and the brakes from activating in reverse. If you can tell me the model number off your actuator I can see if there...

The Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator - Bolt On - Drum - 2" Ball - Zinc - 7,500 lbs # DX27FR you were looking at does indeed include a manual lock out key. I included a video of the # DX27FR for you to take a look at.

  • Comparing Dexter DX7.5L A-60 DX27FR and Titan Brake Actuator # T63FR
The only difference between the Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator - Bolt On - Drum - 2" Ball - Zinc - 7,500 lbs # DX27FR and Brake Actuator with Manual Lockout - Bolt On - Drum - 2" Ball - 7,500 lbs # T63FR is the # T63FR has the manual lockout already installed where the # DX27FR does not. Both have the same 7500lb trailer weight rating, zinc plated finish, accept a 2" hitch ball, and bolt on to a 3" wide channel tongue. Since they are pretty much the same I would go with the most cost...

  • Troubleshooting Brakes Locking Up in Reverse on Yacht Club Boat Trailer
It sounds like you have a hydraulic brake actuator like the Demco Hydraulic Brake Actuator # DM72VR on your Yacht Club boat trailer. In order to keep the brakes from activating, you need to have a reverse lockout on your brake actuator. It is possible that your current brake actuator has a manual lockout, or is capable of manual lockout using a key like the # DX94FR. You will need to identify your current brake actuator in order to determine if it has a reverse lockout or not. If that...

A reverse lockout will prevent the trailer brakes from activating when you reverse your trailer that has a surge brake style coupler. Certain surge couplers will allow you to use an electric Solenoid Valve like the # T4748800 that prevents hydraulic fluid from going to the brakes when you place your vehicle in reverse(Must have functioning 5-way or 7-way trailer connector). Other surge couplers will use a manual lockout like the Demco # DM5939 or Dexter # DX94FR. If you can let me know...

  • Where Does The Manual Lockout Key Attach On The Titan Brake Actuator # T4500600?
The manual Lockout Key # DX94FR works by sliding into the side slide channel on the Brake Actuator # T4500600. The key will prevent the actuator from sliding which will prevent the brakes from being applied when you need to back up with your trailer.

  • Recommended Surge Brake Actuator To Replace Old Atwood Surge Brake Actuator For Drum Brakes
To replace your old Atwood surge brake actuator I recommend the Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator - Weld On - Drum - 2" Ball - Primed - 7,500 lbs # DEX94FR which will still work with your 2" hitch ball and drum brakes. You will have no problem removing your current actuator and welding the # DEX94FR in its place. The # DEX94FR does have a manual reverse lockout but you will need to purchase the lockout key # DX94FR. I included a video of the # DEX94FR for you to take a look at.

  • When To Use Lockout Key for Dexter Axle Brake Actuators
In regards to the Replacement Consumer Lockout Key for Dexter Axle Brake Actuators part # DX94FR, this is only to be used when needing to reverse with the trailer as it will stop fluid from progressing through the cylinder applying the brakes on the trailer. It should not be left installed while not in use.

  • Replacement Surge Brake Actuator for 1996 Shorelander Boat Trailer
The coupler you currently have has a 6,000 lb capacity and fits a 2" ball. This does not have a lockout but you can use the Replacement Consumer Lockout Key for Dexter Axle Brake Actuators - Qty 1 # DX94FR for manual lockout. The Brake Actuator # T63FR is 20" long and fits a 3" frame. The width of the outer case is 3-1/2" and it is 4" tall. I do recommend getting an extra Lockout Key # DX94FR as these are quite small and can easily be lost.

  • Replacement Coupler for A-60 on Trailer
Since the Dexter coupler part # DX27FR was designed as a replacement for the A-60 you have now this would be the simplest and best replacement solution. The Dexter manual reverse lock out part # DX94FR can not be permanently installed on the coupler and even if it could it would simply prevent the brakes from working at all so it would defeat purpose of having the coupler.

While this actuator does come with an electric lockout that ties to the reverse light circuit to prevent pressure from getting to the brake calipers, you can also use it manually. Based on the information I was able to find on your Demco DA603 it appears the Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator for Drum # DX83FR or Disc # DX56FR brakes is going to be the best replacement. The disc brake actuator includes an electric lockout while the drum brake actuator would require a Lockout Key # DX94FR if you do not have free backing brakes. Both these have a 2" coupler and are rated for 7,500lbs to fit on a 3" by 5" trailer tongue.

For a replacement I recommend the Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator # DX83FR. Your UFP GDC-70 is the same as the A-70, and this actuator is a direct replacement for the UFP A-60 and A-70. This fits 3" x 5" straight tongues and is designed for drum brakes. If you want a manual lockout you will also need the # DX94FR. If you would like an electric lockout you would need to add the # # T4748800.

  • What is Distance Between Mounting Holes of Dexter A-60 Coupler
The distance between the mounting holes of the Dexter coupler part # DX56FR is 3 inches so it would bolt right up to your trailer. For a manual lockout you could use with this you'd want part # DX94FR. Standard brake line kits like the part # DM5424 would work just fine.

It is not designed for a trailer with hydraulic surge brakes.
