Video Transcript for Demco A-Frame Trailer Coupler - Standard Coupler - DM15349-52 Review

Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at the Demco 50 degree A-frame coupler. This is a channel mount design. Now this coupler installs onto your A-frame trailer, and provides attachment points for channel mount connectors, such as Lynette rings, a clevis, or a hitch-ball coupler. This unit features a capacity of up to 14,000 pounds. It is designed for 50 degree A-frame trailers. So, you'll see the design here. Now, I'm going to take a measurement.

The distance we have from this wall to the same point on the other side, and that's going to give us a measurement of, I'm going to saw about 11-5/8 of an inch. That's the span of that opening right there. This is a standard three inch channel bracket. Outside edge to outside edge, gives a measurement of 3-11/16 of an inch. I do want to point out that you will notice that it does not have a hole for a trailer jack.It is made from a very durable steel construction.

It's got nice bracing on it. Nice consistent welds. And it's coated with a silver powder coated finish, which is going to help resist rust and corrosion. It's a bolt on, or weld on installation. You'll notice that on each side, it does have three mount holes.

These all have a diameter of 5/8 of an inch. And they're separated on center by three inches. And then the adjustment holes, right here, are separated on center by two inches. They have a diameter of 5/8 of an inch as well. From the center of the top hole, to the center of the bottom hole, that has a distance of 10 inches, again, on center. That's going to do it for today's look at the Demco 50 degree A-frame coupler.

Again, this is a channel mount design, using a standard three inch channel bracket.

This was exactly what I needed. Our newer f-550s sit much higher than some of our older trucks making it really difficult to level off a non adjustable trailer. This was perfect I used bolts and also welded it on for extra strength. I’ve converted 3 of our older trailers using these.

Product was perfect for our customers slightly odd need of a pintle on his utility trailer. Product is very sturdy and as advertised. Fit the frame angle perfectly. My customer is very happy with his trailer and that Demco had the solution to fit his need!

For our first transaction with etrailer I cannot say enough about their speed in shipping and volume of parts. Definitely will be using etrailer again in the future very soon!

Purchased this coupler for use on a travel trailer-to-flatbed conversion. Been using it for a year now and I am extremely pleased with how it has performed and held up.

by:

Great product, allowed me to use my ProPride 3P Hitch on a large car hauler that needed additional tongue clearance. Confidently towing every time now with my 3P Hitch!

by:

great product and fast shipping fits perfect--thank you

by:

Very solid product. Thick steel and good welds. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the lack of a hole for a jack. That's not a deal breaker for me but might be for some. The powder coated finish is a nice feature to keep it rust-free instead of just paint like most others. It should be plenty strong enough for my skidsteer trailer.

PRODUCT JUST WHAT I NEEDED / SHIPPING DEPARTMENT NEED A LESSON ON PACKING BOXES WITH THIS KIND IF WEIGHT IN BOX.

by:

Very good product fast service thanks etrailer excellent customer service

by:

Great for what I need it for but only 4 starts because the welds seem to be a bit in the cold side

by:

GREAT COUPLER. COULD GET SHIPPED BETTER LIKE A BOX THAT FITS IT INSTEAD OF A BOX WHERE YOU KNOW PART OF THE ITEM IS GOING TO POKE HUGE HOLE IN BOX

by:

  • Can the Demco DM15349-52 be Mounted in an Underslung Configuration?
I spoke to Demco, and unfortunately the Coupler # DM15349-52 cannot be mounted to the bottom of a frame. They went on to say that there would not be enough surface area for it to handle the weight when welded or bolted on. That being said, the Ram 5-Position Adjustable Channel Bracket # CTA-CB6 is also rated up to 14,000 pounds and can be mounted however you need it to be. This would be a fully welded on part and would most likely need a few gussets added for structural integrity.

  • Help Understanding and Achieving the 21K Weight Capacity of Demco Trailer Coupler # DM14040-81
First I want to make sure you verify your channel mount for the Demco Trailer Coupler # DM14040-81 has a 21K or larger capacity as often times they are less like the Demco # DM15349-52 which often times people look at and think it is a channel mount like the coupler so it has to be rated the same. The other big hang up most people have is the see the Hardware # DM6166 only being grade 5 instead of grade 8 which should be stronger. The big difference is while grade 8 bolts allow for more...

  • Recommended Adjustable Channel for A-Frame Trailer
The Demco 6-Hole Adjustable Channel Bracket - Weld On - 12" Tall - 21,000 lbs # DM66134 is the weld on option for your trailer. There isn't a complete kit we offer, but it sounds like you are seeking the Demco 50-Degree A-Frame Coupler without Jack Hole - Channel Mount # DM15349-52. You can then use a coupler like # CTA-400. If you want the support jack plate use # DL22763.

  • What Bolts are Needed to Mount Demco DM15349-52 Trailer Coupler
The Demco # DM15349-52 does not include mounting hardware. Demco recommends using grade 5 bolts, and the holes in the coupler are 5/8 inches in diameter. If you click the provided link, you can see a product demonstration video featuring the # DM15349-52 A-frame coupler.

  • Can The Demco 50-Degree A-Frame Coupler # DM15349-52 Be Mounted On a Lets Go Aero Trailer?
I reached out to Lets Go Aero for confirmation that you can even use the Demco 50-Degree A-Frame Coupler # DM15349-52 and they said that you will not have any structural issues with having the bolt holes drilled in the sides of your Frame as the Demco will require. Since the holes in the new coupler will not line up centered on your frame rails you will need to pad out the top of the frame 1/2" with some additional steel to center the bolt holes in the tube. You will need the Demco Trailer...

  • Recommended A-Frame Coupler That Can Use Different Attachment Options To Vehicle
I recommend the Demco 50-Degree A-Frame Coupler without Jack Hole - Channel Mount - Silver - Bolt On - 14,000-lb # DM15349-52 which mounts to the a-frame on your trailer and has a channel which allows quite a few different mounting options like the Pro Series Adjustable-Channel Coupler w/ Low Latch - 2" Ball # PSA200S0303 or the Buyers Products Plain 7-Ton Cast Lunette Ring # 337B16137. There is not a coupler that has a 2" receiver like you mentioned.

  • Is There a Reason Demco 50-Degree A-Frame Coupler # DM15349-52 is Silver
Silver is just the color that Demco likes for their couplers which is why the Demco 50-Degree A-Frame Coupler # DM15349-52 is that color. The two most popular colors are black and silver like this. Demco does offer a red primer version of some couplers like # 12660-97SP.

  • How Does Bulldog Collar-Lok Coupler # BD028287 Work Differently than Other Couplers
Bulldog Collar-Lok Coupler # BD028287 and similar couplers have a sleeve that constantly puts pressure on the front of the coupler, the part that goes around the ball, so that it cannot come loose. There is also more surface area of the coupler making contact with the ball. Traditional couplers use what is essentially a wedge. The fit is predetermined and can me manually adjusted on some couplers by tightening or loosening a bolt or nut in the wedge/latch mechanism. This design can get...

  • Can a Jack Hole be Added to an A Frame Coupler
The Demco 50-Degree A-Frame Coupler without Jack Hole part # DM15349-52 is not available with a jack hole. If you want to add your own hole to accommodate a jack that would be acceptable.

  • Off-Road Hitch And Coupler Options For a Toy Hauler RV Travel Trailer
To connect your toy hauler RV travel trailer you with the Curt Lunette Ring # C48560 you will need to have a Trailer Nose Plate # 337TNP716625750 welded and gusseted in place of your current ball coupler. An easier option would be having a Demco 50-Degree A-Frame Coupler # DM15349-52 welded in place of your coupler. This coupler is rated for up to 14,000lbs and will require drilling for a A-Frame jack if your trailer requires that. Then you will be able to use the Lunette Ring # T1613700...
