Bolt-on installation.The coupler that came with our teardrop did the job, but getting hooked up and secure on the ball was a real pain that would take multiple attempts to reposition it before it dropped fully in place. I like the Demco eZ-latch. So much better. I uploaded 3 photos: 1) original coupler, 2) trailer frame with new holes drilled and old holes filled with Bondo, 3) Demco coupler in place. The changeover was very easy.
Very good quality, construction, and finish. This was used to replace a 5000# rated coupler on my RV trailer that was just not strong enough. It has an extra 2-3" of length than the old coupler so make sure your safety chains have enough length to accommodate the extra length. One bonus for me was that the extra length was just enough to allow me to open the back door of my SUV with the trailer hitched (which I couldn't do before). The DEMCO coupler does take a 2 1/2" wide hitch pin /lock which is different than most couplers.
I purchased the premium version of this bolt on coupler. I replaced a cracked welded original, and likes the bolt on feature. Used grade 8 bolts, its not going anywhere. It is extremely beefy, thick and heavy steel. The finish is excellent. It has a 500 hr salt rating. I clamped it into place with C clamps and used the holes in the coupler as templates to drill into the channel steel on the trailer. As a result, a perfect fit. It fits the 50 degree angle of the trailer channels like a glove. The fastening mechanism works very nicely. Unlike other fastener systems, it simply engages or disengages a spring that sets the locking mechanism. It requires that you pull the trailer forward under tension slightly to lock it in place. It has a beefed 5/16” locking pin hole. I purchased my locking pin locally as e-trailer has a 5/16 pin but it is not long enough as specified for this. A pin is not supplied, I don’t think this is normally supplied anyways.

Just recently I bought a DemcO A-frame Coupler W/ Jack Hole - Silver - Bolt On - 10k. This was a replacement for a trailer hitch that was bent thru heavy use. Not only was the hitch easy to graft on the A-frame, but it was much stronger than the original with a 10k lb capacity and the price was great. The etrailer customer care was also outstanding. I paid for standard shipping, but w/in the same day I received a message from George J that he was accelerating shipping service to 3 days at no cost. From now on I will buy all my trailer components and all hardware from etrailer.com. Great products, great prices, outstanding service! Thank you George!
Best coupler I've ever used! Very impressed and will be swapping out on another trailer that also has a finicky coupler latch.
Better made than the original load rite piece. Much better hitch mechanism. Very pleased with it. Purchased for a 2year old single axel Load Rite UT-510. Load Rite confirmed this is the correct replacement piece. It is not. Bolt holes did not match up.. Had to drill new ones into the frame. Very pleased w Demco. Load Rite? Not so much love going there.

I am not sure about this being a direct replacement for anything but we do have the specs listed in the description for people making a switch in brands.
I needed to replace my coupler and had no access to a welder.
so I ordered the Demco bolt on A style coupler. I had to do a little modification to my Trailer tongue but no big deal. The coupler is also heavier duty than my old coupler. I also like the fact that I don't have to make sure the lever is all the way open because the new coupler just drops onto my hitch ball. As heavy duty this coupler is I suspect the rest of the trailer will fall apart before it does.
This is a solid, well built coupler with a really good paint finish. The latching mechanism works well.
The packaging left a lot to be desired, though. I ordered it with 2 other items, and all 3 items were dropped in a box with nothing having been individually wrapped and no protection to keep the items from banging each other during shipping. So, everything got scratched up, which was pretty disappointing.
I ended up returning the other two items (not related to the shipping issue), and the customer service team at etrailer is great. I will continue to do business with them.
I ordered the Demco Mo# DM14793-52 after years of fighting with the sliding collar which came stock on my trailer. I love the product. It took a little cutting and drilling but the effort is worth it. VERY solid product and great price from ertailer. The lever mechanism is even replaceable should it ever fail. Nice work Demco.
One note - no literature is provided with the unit but Demco's website indicates that Grade 5 bolts should be used to attach it to your trailer.

Only 4 stars because I have not installed it yet, but will follow up after it has been put to use towing my boat around.
I built an all aluminum trailer and put this coupler on it and it works great. I would highly recommend it!
This is the best hitch I have ever owned. Heavy duty, easy to latch and unlatch
haven't installed yet but is good and strong heavy duty part and will be perfect for my trailer.
Odelia waited on me and was very helpful as well as professional. I certainly would order from her again and recomend etrailer to anyone who needs trailer supplies.
Well built seems it would come with hardware but it don't fast ship on the product

Good, continues to work well. It requires placement against the ball or it does not close, typical of most hitches. It seems to snap right in place I like it. Worried the lever is made of plastic.
