Today we're going to be taking a look at the Demco trailer coupler. This is a cast ball coupler that lets you hook up your trailer to your tow vehicle. It's going to provide a connection point for a 2 5/16" hitch ball. It's going to feature your easy latch mechanism that's going to ensure simple, secure, hookup and disconnect. Simply lets you hook up when the latch is in the closed position. All you got to do is drop the coupler over the hitch ball, and then the latch will automatically snap into place, and it'll engage the hitch ball.

If you want to do it the traditional way with the latch in the open position, this coupler offers that feature as well. Again, the easy latch design lets you hook to your hitch ball with the latch in the closed position, and it engages automatically. When it comes to mounting, this is designed for an adjustable channel mount. It's got that design to it that's going to let you change the coupler's height depending on your application. Your channel bracket and mounting hardware are sold separately. When it comes to the hardware, we want to recommend using part #DM6166.

It's available, right here, at etrailer.com. This is made from a sturdy steel construction. It's going to feature a really nice silver powder coated finish. It's going to do a great job at resisting rust and corrosion, looking nice, and lasting for a long time. It's going to feature a 500-hour salt spray radium which is going to make this ideal for marine applications. It's SAE J684 certified.

This is designed for a 3" wide channel bracket. We can tell that by taking a measurement, here, at the backside. You can see that's going to measure right around 2 7/8, so it's going to fit perfectly inside the 3" wide channel bracket. Again, it is designed for a 2 5/16" hitch ball. It's going to offer a weight capacity of 21,000 lbs.

The overall length of our coupler measuring from back to front is going to give us measurement of about 8 1/8" long. You can see the wedge mechanism right there. Open and close the latch, and you can see how that controls the wedge. Another neat thing I want to point out is this unit's going to feature two lockable, or pinhole, locations for a coupler lock. You're going to have your traditional one, right here, on the latch, that would prevent the latch from opening up. You're going to have this location, right here, and you're going to have a location, down here, that actually locks the wedge into place. That way nobody could connect it to their hitch ball, and it can't become disconnected when it's connected to your trailer, to your hitch ball.
