This cargo carrier worked great. Used it to move a rototiller, 2 hour trip. No damage or deformation to the carrier despite the tiller being near the top of the weight limit. The hitch bolt held the carrier firmly in place. It doesn't come with the lights, I installed light kit Item # 52014. Just had to drill four small holes (I knew this light kit wasn't specifically designed for this carrier, just wanted something cheap). Works great on a Town Car, lots of ground clearance. I'm very happy with this product.

by:

This cargo carrier is sturdy and works well on a Mazdaspeed 3. The rise and slight angle make it so clearance is not an issue. The carrier is very easy to put together. I did install the 8 bolts through the connecting plates in reverse of the instructions so cargo would not be scratched or torn. It adds so much cargo space for our growing family. The only drawbacks are a lack of license plate frame and reflectors which are easily added with very little cost. I used a Cruiser license mount plate with zip ties and Reese DOT approved reflectors. I don't plan to use the carrier at night but there are many license plate lights that can be added as well. I also purchased the Rola carrier bag for hauling luggage and other indoor items.

by:

Etrailer provided excellent service and was great at recommending this cargo carrier.

This cargo carrier was perfect for my 2011 Toyota Corolla with a 1 1/4 hitch. This cargo carrier not only fits without an adapter (much safer and can carry the load better), but it also is elevated over the hitch by another 4-5 inches to give greater clearance and it moves the cargo carrier away from the exhaust pipe. I worried about the heat from the exhaust pipe previously.

This was easy to assemble and install (about 30 minutes). About 6 main parts + some bolts. Easy to install. I'm going to use this for a cross country road trip.

by:

Product came with clear directions to assemble. Seems to be of good quality. Was hoping it would be made in the USA (did not check) like the Curt hitch I bought, but it was not. Not the end of the world. Only reason I am taking it down a notch is the mesh metal in the center bends a bit, not much but with ~155 lbs. on it I can get it to bend. But I will never have more than ~250 on it so it will work. Good for the price.

by:

I wanted to let you know that both the hitch and carrier arrived and I have already installed them both. They are awesome! Shipping was fast and the box arrived in great condition.

The video you have on your site helped out tremendously. I didn't have the use of a lift, but had a jack and two jack stands. It was a little difficult that way, but still doable.

by:

I love this cargo carrier so much! My Mazda CX-5 has a pretty good amount of space, but this takes it to the next level. We use it when we go camping, and it holds all of our coolers, plus the kitchen box! Highly recommend!

by:

This did great on a 5500 mile roadtrip and 150lbs of camping equipment. It held up well and the raised hitch made it nice for the steep inclines on trails so there was clearance. I did add amber reflectors on the side and red on the back from walmart for extra visibility.

by:

I just assembled and installed my new 19x47 Curt Cargo Carrier for 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches on my 2013 kia soul. Was easy to assemble and i am impressed with how solid it is once installed in hitch no wobble or movement. I plan on using this for hunting hauling muddy boots and gear will free up a lot of space inside of my kia. I will also use to haul gas jugs to refill.

I just returned home from a beach trip with my new cargo carrier. Overall it performed as needed. Having installed this on my 2006 Toyota Corolla I am happy I purchased a carrier with a rise in the shaft (raises the platform approximately 3" above the hitch insert). The carrier lightly scraped the ground a couple of times when pulling out of steeper parking lots onto the main road. Assembly took about 45 minutes doing this alone. Make sure you follow the directions and don't tighten the bolts the entire way, but make sure you tighten them enough that the square part of the bolt head will not fall out of the square hole or you run the risk of not being able to properly seat the bolts as you begin tightening all of the other bolts. I was slightly disappointed by the hitch pin. This does not use a standard slip through hitch pin and a standard pin will not fit. It instead has a threaded pin (included) that you need a 19mm socket (or box wrench) to tighten. I was hoping to use my Master Lock locking hitch pin, but was unable to because it was too large to fit through the threaded part of the carrier. There is a hole at the end of the threaded hit pin for a cotter pin so you may be able to put a small luggage zipper type lock in there for added security. The other disadvantage to the need for a socket is you need to take one with you on your trip if you plan to remove the cargo carrier, which I did for daily driving during the week around town. So again, overall it performed as needed and I would recommend this to a friend, but would make sure I pointed out the hitch pin setup as I don't think most people would expect this.

Its threaded so you dont have to watch your cargo bounce side to side and it makes for a quiter ride because the rack is on with the hitch. You can get a threaded hitch pin with lock too.

The carrier has worked very well and I use it regularly. I recently purchased a new vehicle with a 2 receiver so it was nice to be able to just use the included adapter and not have to buy a new carrier. I mentioned the hitch pin as a downside, but after use it really is not. I purchased a cheap luggage lock to minimize the chance of theft. I also picked up a really cheap 19mm wrench to keep in the car so taking the hitch pin in and out is no problem. I would definitely recommend this product. It has held up very well despite my frequent, rough use.

Exact fit for the Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class I - 1-1/4"
Item # 24884. Easy to assemble. Sturdy and well built carrier. I would suggest a LED Trailer License Plate Light w/ Bracket because the carrier will block the plate and light, as shown in the photo submitted.

by:

It works great for what I needed it for.

by:

This product has worked great with our Smart Car. While on an 3 week vacation this carrier allowed us to take a lot more stuff. It also makes shopping better.

by:

I like the design, although it would be nice if you would have the same size in a aluminum material for a inch and a 1/4 hitch? Maybe build most in aluminum "but" have the receiver bar metal?

Thanks for the review! I just wanted to suggest a few cargo carriers that may suit you, depending on your application. There are two aluminum carriers but they fit a two inch hitch instead of your preferred one and a quarter inch. They are part # FHG59ZR and part # FHG27ZR. Hopefully this helps!

by:

Great to add more cargo to a small car no problem with height with the rise mount
Assembly was simple
Now I can tailgate without the truck

by:

Cargo carrier #18110 installed on a 90 mazda miata. ROAD TRIP READY! Happy with the purchase! Thanks etrailers!

by:

Nice light carrier.

by:

Had the hitch for a year now and still works great! No complaints and I use it weekly with a platform attachment.

by:

The Curt Cargo Carrier was exactly what I needed. It fir perfectly, was easy to assemble and is very solid. Hauled items for a 12 hour trip with any issues. Etrailer shipped it same day and I received two days earlier than predicted. I also ordered a Curt trailer hitch from etrailer that was easy to attach to my vehicle. Great job Etrailer for providing such a good product.

by:

Very nice carrier. Using it for my compressor and Honda generator. Excellent value.

by:

Easy to install. It took me about 45 minutes to install it together. Just make sure you don't tighten all the bolts until the very end. Instructions were easy to read. Very sturdy !

by:

Pretty simple to assemble. Recommend having a good wrench (I did not) and a second person to help, but is doable by a single determined person. Very sturdy and I expect it will serve me well.

Havent used it yet, but is nice to have on hand.

by:

Great packaging and clear assembly instructions that were easy to follow. The rack is sturdy and sits snuggly in the receiver.

by:

As always from E Trailer very quick 2 day delivery to Minnesota, packaged well so no damage. It took very little time to put the Curt cargo carrier together, it is now installed on the rear 3 point of my John Deere 1025R and will use it mostly to haul firewood cutting tools, chainsaws, wedges, safety gear, chains, ropes and whatever else I need. I can now tie everything down and won't have to haul everything in the loader bucket.

Joris S.

11/5/2016

This works great, I have cut it down to only 48 wide so it would not catch on brush , I can still carry 2 chainsaws and gas and oil

by:

i purchased this last week to help keep the inside of my Outback clean. my husband put it together while watching tv, so assembly was easy. so far it has been used to take yard debris to the transfer station and to pick up bags of gravel and top soil. it seems very sturdy as long as you tighten the bolt with a ratchet--otherwise it is a little wobbly. we have an old thule bike rack with the same issue, so we keep a ratchet in the car. it does not weigh too much, so storage and on-and-off is easy.

Still love it.

by:

We recently bought a slightly used car with a 1 1/4 hitch already installed. This hitch gives us the flexibility to go on my wife car with the 1 1/4 hitch, or my car with the 2" hitch. We love having this rear platform to haul bulky items from our home in CT to my son's home in Chicago. It stands up to lots of weight, and offers a more aerodynamic option to a pod on the roof. Love etrailer.com! Item came quickly! Reasonable price! What's not to love?

  • Availability Of 2 inch Hitch and Cargo Carrier Compatible W/ 2021 Hyundai Kona EV
I may have an option for you, the Draw-Tite Max-Frame # DT52GR has the 2" receiver and is a confirmed to fit your 2021 Hyundai Kona Electric. I am not sure how heavy or large your photo booth is it may work with the 19x47 Curt Cargo Carrier # C18110 which will work perfectly in the # DT52GR. Now since this carrier weighs 30lbs you will need to make sure your photobooth does not exceed 270lbs so you can stay under the 300lb rating of your hitch. You will also need to check if your Kona...

  • Ride Adapter for Cargo Carrier in Class I Trailer Hitch
Honestly, the least expensive way to deal with this issue woluld be to get a new cargo carrier that has an angled shank like the Curt # C18110 which has a shank that provides a 3-3/4 inch rise. The only other option available is an adapter like # HT5R used along with a reducer like # HT02. This is a solution, but not a great one because using the adapter would reduce your hitch tongue weight capacity by half to 100 lbs. That means that the weight of your existing cargo carrier and whatever...

The Draw-Tite Class I hitch, part # 24884 is what I'd recommend. The similarly-numbered 24844 you mentioned fits the Elantra Touring Hatchback, and wouldn't fit your Accent. Due to its modest tongue weight capacity, the bike rack and hitch manufacturers recommend that a bike rack used in a Class I hitch should be limited to carrying two bikes. Adding additional bikes would place too much leverage on the hitch, which could damage the hitch or its attachment points to the vehicle. A hitch...
