Hi everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com and today we're gonna take a look at these replacement brake shoes for the Dexter 12 inch by two inch left-hand side free backing drum brake assembly. Now the free backing design is going to let you back up without engaging the trailer brakes, even if your brake actuator is activated. These are the replacement primary and secondary brake shoes for the Dexter 12 inch by two inch left-hand free backing drum brake assembly. And the way that you can tell which shoe is which is that the shorter pad shoe is our primary shoe, and this will always face the front of the trailer when it is installed. And then the longer pad shoe is the secondary shoe, and this is always going to install at the rear of the assembly, indicating for you that this is indeed the left hand side, or the driver's side. Now these front and rear pads use automotive-grade friction materials, which are molded to the brake shoes.
The pads are fully bonded so they are not riveted to the shoes, which will give you a lot longer life and more braking torque. Now this includes everything that you see here on the table before me. You're going to get the two brake shoes, you're going to get the two hold down springs, and then the two cups, and then the two hold down pins to hold them in place. And as we mentioned, these fit the 12 inch by two inch size brake assemblies. So when these are installed onto your brake assembly, if you measure from this end to this end of the shoe, the diameter is going to measure 12 inches.
And then the two inch measurement is the actual width of the pad itself. So again, this is for the left-hand side, but if you are also looking for the right hand side, we do have those here at etrailer.com.
