Video Transcript for Bulldog Winch Electric Winch BDW20133 Review

Today we're going to review part # BDW20133. This is the Bulldog Electrical Quick Connect Set for electric winches. This quick connect set is used to allow you to easily connect and disconnect your electric winch on your vehicle. These connectors have a 175 amp rating for continuous duty. They are designed to install with a 2 gauge wire size. All the connectors themselves are made of a polycarbonate housing for strength and durability.

They use these high grade copper terminals that are silver plated for protection from corrosion. These terminals themselves will accept a wire gauge size of anywhere from 0 to 4 gauge basically when you go to install them. Now this set will include the two connectors, the four terminals, and it even has this one piece dust cover with the wire tether to put over your connector on your vehicle when it's not connected. Basically what you would do is one of these connectors is going to attach to the wires on your winch. The other's going to attach to the wires that are on your vehicles battery that supplies the power. Simply what you have to do is just take these terminals and you'll notice what you'll do is strip a portion of your cable or your wire, slide it in there, either crimp it or solder it whichever you prefer.

You do that on two of them and then what you'll do is go to these connectors right here and all you'll have to do, let me pull the dust cover off is there's a spring right in here and they're spring loaded; you'll just take the terminal as sort of a hook to the end here. With the hook pointing down. You'll make sure if it's the positive; you'll look on this connector and it'll show a + for the positive. If the wire attach you'll just push this all the way in. When you do that it'll click into place. Same way with your wire attached here for negative, same way, just push it in there.

Push it in all the way and you'll see it clicks in and then you're connector's ready. Then you'll go to your connector over here for your winch. Get your winch wires and you'll do the same thing using these two terminals. Run your wire to there, the positive and the negative. Make sure you line them up in the correct location and the same way with the hook facing down just put the wire in the terminal and pop it into place.

Put the hook down. Now your terminals are ready to use. What happens is with this on the winch and this on the vehicle, when you decide to put the winch on the front of the vehicle all you have to do is line the connectors up, push them together and you got a good tight weather proof connection. Terminals are not exposed. Then when you want to remove the winch and you're not going to use it maybe for a while and you don't want to have it on the vehicle just pull them apart, take your dust cover put it right on the vehicle; that will protect your terminals that are on your vehicle. Very simple, quick connect set up. That should do it for the review on part # BDW20133 the Bulldog Electrical Quick Connect Set for electric winches. .

Hi quality product, better than I expected. Also reasonably priced. It will be a quality accessory added to the vehicle and be interchangeable to the next vehicle I purchase. Thanks etrailer for making my shopping easier. AND Talk about quick service and delivery all 5 Star for me. I purchased both front and rear hook ups for my winch or other things that will need power and they are both just what the doctor ordered.

  • How to Wire Two Electric Winches to a Vehicle with Dual Batteries
When wiring two separate winches to a vehicle with dual batteries, you will need a circuit breaker for each winch. A circuit breaker is designed to protect the vehicles circuitry in the event of a short in the winch wiring. Almost all winch circuit breakers are equipped with an auto-resetting feature. If the winch you have did not come with a circuit breaker or you simply need to replace the circuit breaker, you will want to use one rated for the maximum amperage draw of the winch. If...

For a straight connection your can use the Deka Wire Crimp Connector part # DW05354 and double over your 10 gauge wire to make the crimp hold for you. We often do this when joining two sizes together. If it will be connected outside the trailer use heat shrink like the Deka Primary Wire Heat Shrinkable Tubing part # DW05402. If by Quick Connect your mean the Bulldog Winch Quick-Connect Set w/Dust Cover part # BDW20133 type these would work for you.

The Bulldog Winch Quick-Connect Set # BDW20133 that you referenced will work with winches that have 2 gauge wiring. When ordering the Dutton-Lainson Electrical Quick Connect, # DL24805, you will get 2 plastic connectors, one male and one female and 4 quick connect terminals, properly sized for soldering 6 gauge wire into them, to make one complete quick disconnect setup. • Recommended Quick Connects for a Winch Being Installed on a Boat
Since the quick connects are only rated to 50 amps I'd beef up your cables to cover your 150 amp max pull rating. The 6 AWG is a minimum so you can go bigger, luckily. I'd steer towards something like the Bulldog Winch Rear Wiring Kit # BDW20207 or for just the quick connects # BDW20133. This kit/connectors are going to work with 2 AWG wire which is larger, however they are rated for up to 175 Amps so you'll have your coverage.

  • How to Make 20 foot Long 2 Gauge Quick Disconnects for Winch
I have a solution for you, but there isn't a 20 foot long version of the part # BDW20219 that you referenced. Instead you would need to provide 20 feet of 2 gauge wire and then use the # BDW20133 for quick connects on either end. These connectors are the same as what comes with the 24 foot # BDW20207.

  • How To Add Quick Disconnect Harness for Electric Boat Winch
I may have a solution for you, but there's not going to be a wiring harness that can be used that will provide you with the power you're going to need to pull from the battery to power the winch. Your best bet might be to create some sort of quick disconnect for each of the batteries that you can either hook up when needed, or leave attached to the vehicles. This would require cutting off the battery clamp ends of your winch and putting quick disconnects like the Dutton-Lainson Electrical...

The wiring in the kit is all 2 AWG. I have also included a link to our FAQ article on wiring an electric winch for reference.

The Superwinch Winch 2 Go 4000 comes with 6 AWG. Therefore the correct quick-disconnect terminal would be part # BDW20047 which is rated for 6-10 AWG, not part # BDW20133 which is rated for 2-4 AWG. In order to use the quick-disconnect terminal rated for 2-4 AWG, you would also need to change out the wires in the box that run from the ring terminals on the winch to the quick-disconnect terminal on the back of the box.

Long story short, that's not going to work for you even with a double line pull using a snatch block like the # CU881079. In reality, you need at least 1.5x the GVWR of your vehicle when it comes to winch capacity. The # BDW10044 I mentioned as a better choice would be the bare minimum you'd be able to get away with and still be able to recover your 2019 Nissan Frontier from a situation that required a winch. In regards to the Bulldog Winch Rear Wiring Kit part # BDW20207, the length of ground wire is included to ensure a good ground on every application.
