Ellen: Hey everyone, I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com and we'll be taking a quick look at the Seaflo battery disconnect. This is going to be an enclosed battery disconnect, so you can keep your boat protected or your RV protected from anybody getting in there and being able to turn on the battery. With this, once you turn it off and take the key out, it's impossible for anybody to start your vehicle. This is going to be really handy for if you're keeping your boat or RV in long-term storage or just over the winter or over the off season that you're not going to be using it, make sure that nobody can really get in there and operate anything. It makes it pretty nice as a security feature and just keeps everything protected. Let's go over some of the specs for this and make sure that it's going to be the right fit for your vehicle. This does have a pretty high amperage rating. The continuous rating for the amps is 275, which should be more than enough for any of your boats.

Unless you've got a really big yacht or something like that, this should be pretty powerful enough for just about anything that you might have. The cranking amp rating is 1,250. That's going to be that initial spike whenever you're turning everything on, even if you've got a lot of accessories on your boat or your RV, it should again be plenty. And if you have everything running and then you have a little spike, maybe you're pushing out a slide-out or something like that, it is rated for 450 amps for intermittent power. Definitely going to be a pretty powerful little guy here. The voltage rating is 50 volts DC.

It's made of an abs plastic construction, UV resistant and vapor proof so you don't have to worry about anything getting in there and causing any issues. The nice thing about this is that it's going to be pretty well hidden and pretty nice and flat. Whenever you mount this, it is a recessed mount.I'll give you some measurements to make sure that this is going to fit into a spot on your vehicle. The outer edge of the housing here to outer edge is about 3-3/4" inches, maybe more like 3-7/8", if we really go to that edge. It kind of tapers a little bit.

And it looks like it's going to be right about 4" for the other side, there's a little notch here to make it easier to open that lid. Going in on the depth, it's about 4" deep from beneath where you would mount it to the end of the studs, where you'd make your connections to your battery. The diameter here, or the cut-out you'll need to make right about 3" in diameter. And as far as the height, that's going to be above the surface, it looks to be about 3/8". The studs on the back here are also 3/8" in diameter. You want to make sure that you get some good terminals to connect to your cables going to your battery.

3/8" diameter on those terminals will be great. And then you'll have to check with your battery to make sure that you get cables that are up to the task for this. You want to get something that's really heavy gauge wire for that connection to make sure that it's rated for the kind of power that you're going to be drawing through, and that really depends on the batteries that you're connecting this to.Something that's probably going to be a really low gauge, like one or zero is going to be that really big wire, typically something like a jumper cable, or even bigger. One last measurement I do want to give you is the mounting holes here. It doesn't come with hardware to attach it, but just to give you an idea of the size here. Center to center, those mounting holes look to be about 2-5/8" apart. And that's going to be the same going in the other direction about 2-5/8", maybe about 2-7/16" going this way. Not quite square. And then those look to be about 1/4" in diameter. They do have a conical design, so you can get counter set bolts to make it a nice flat install. That key, also, easy to remove, put this on your key chain, keep it with you. And that keeps anybody from getting in there, causing any power to come on. That's pretty much all there is to it for our look at Seaflo encased battery disconnect. I hope this has been helpful and the settings is going to be the right one for you. We do have some other options available though, here at etrailer.com and a lot of other accessories for your boats and RVs. Check them out. Thanks for watching.

Very good product works very well as a hidden swith on my go float boat

Friend with a 17' center console boat was having issues with parasitic draw. Found the issue, installed this battery switch along with an AC dockside charger and a T-Top mounted solar battery charger. No matter where he is now, no chance of a dead battery

The switch arrived soon after order. It easily fit into my 12 volt system allowing total shut off of power when camper not in use.

  • Does The TireMinder TPMS Booster Have To Be Disconnected When Not Towing?
The Booster for the TireMinder TPMS for Dual Axle Trailers # TPMS-TRAILER uses a very low draw of power. If you use the trailer often there will not be an issue with having the booster hard wired. If your trailer will sit for long periods of time I do recommend disconnecting the battery or putting in a Battery Disconnect # SE63FR to prevent the battery from draining and damaging the battery.

  • Why Does Engager Break-Away System On Horse Trailer Drain Battery On Vehicle and Trailer?
The Hopkins Engager Push-To-Test Trailer Breakaway Kit # 20099 should not be draining the battery from your vehicle or from the breakaway battery unless the cable is pulled out. What could be happening is the breakaway Battery # HM20008 is unable to hold a charge and when connected to your vehicle it is trying to charge the battery which kills the vehicle battery. But when disconnected since the battery cannot maintain a charge it also dies very quickly. If you still want to use a toggle...
