Video Transcript for Bargman 7-Way Molded Connector Review

Speaker 1: Today we'll be having a look at and showing you how to install the Bargman seven way molded trailer connector with a 15 foot cable. Also available in a 10, 18, and 22 feet length. Here's what our cable looks like installed. Now the main reason your going to need a new cable like this one is because if you didn't adequately have the slack tied up when your towing your trailer, it can drag on the ground, causing abrasion, causing a short and it won't work properly anymore.Hooking up to our tow vehicle is as simple as lifting our door, making sure the notch on our cable faces up to push it in. And then the latch on the door will grab the tab and hold it in place. So you don't have to worry about it getting pulled out.

Well, one thing that's nice about this connector, compared to others on the market, is that when we need to unplug from our truck, we have these nice finger tabs here to get an easy grip on it, as we pull out.Now one thing that sets this cable apart from others in the market, is where the end of our cable meets our seven way connector, right here. It's molded together. And this will prevent moisture from getting inside, offering a superior weather resistance, and we don't have to worry about corrosion happening where the wires are connected to our terminals inside the connector. This will cause better electrical performance over the course of time. This thick insulation will provide protection from the elements, and also will help protect it from abrasion if it we're to rub against something. Now that we've gone over some features, we'll show you how to get it installed.

We need to locate the junction box where our wiring connections are made. In our particular case, this is our junction box in our trailer. You'll typically find this near the front. Remove the lid. We'll now remove the nuts on all of our terminals, that hold our wires in place.

Now in our particular case, our factory seven way wire comes into the top here, and all the connections are these top connectors right here. So, we'll one at a time remove the terminals that cover up those wires, then remove those wires themselves and place back on the ones on the bottom that cover them up. This way, we can easily make our connection without becoming confused.Okay, now that we have all seven of our wires disconnected from the terminals on our junction box, we can pull those away, remove our grommet from those wires, you'll keep the grommet, then we'll remove the cable from the trailer. We've gone ahead and routed our new cable through the cable retainer on our frame, and we'll install the ends into our grommet. Okay, we installed our grommet back into our junction box, like the way it was originally.

Now we'll cut off the excess of our wires. Strip out the installation. And we'll crimp on new rain terminals which we have available on our website to each one of the wires. And we'll place them on to the corresponding stud where they belong. This blue wire here, that's for our electric trailer break output. So I'll put that one to the terminal that's label for our electric brakes. Next one's our green wire, and that one is for our tail lights. We'll do our brown wire next. That one's for our right turn signal. Your yellow wire next. That's for a reverse white output, or reverse yellow one for hydraulic trailer brakes, if your trailer had hydraulic brakes. Now we'll do a red wire. That one's for our left turn signal. Now we'll do our black wire. That's for our constant 12 volt power. That leaves us with the white wire. That's our ground wire. Now we'll reinstall all of our nuts. So, with all of our connections now made, we'll reinstall our cover. Now we'll test our our wiring by taking our plug and going into a tester. You can also plug it into the back of your truck. And we'll test out all of our functions. Now we'll start by turning our tail lights on. Okay, those are working good. Now we'll try our brake lights. Brake lights are working good. Do a right turn signal now. That's working good. Try out a left turn signal. That's working great. And that completes our look at and installation of the Bargman seven way molded trailer connector with a 15 foot cable, part number 50-67-103.

Seems to be good quality but I haven't had time to install anything o ordered yet. Winter came to fast.

by:

Exactly the same product that I have on my trailer.
Always work fine, hope that the new one is as durable as the actual one.

by:

Excellent quality. This cable pig-tail does not get any water internally and my wire connections remain protected. The length of this cable enabled me to run it back to the bulkhead to terminate in a newly installed junction box for trailer lights and brakes.

by:

It's a cable! With a plug!

We
got this cable to wire our small teardrop for underway charging and reverse lights. It's well-molded, long enough to run the length of the trailer, and does its job just fine. We did not lube the contacts, but so far no visible corrosion.

Would use again.

by:

Looks to be good quality. Nice to have more than enough length than you need.

  • How to Determine Trailer Wiring Functions on a Travel Trailer for 7-Way Replacement
Trailer wiring color codes can vary greatly so I have a solution for you, but I can't tell you which color wire goes where on your trailer for wiring up a new 7-way. However, you may look around the wiring junction box or pin box of your trailer. There may be a diagram there. Instead you will want to use a jumper wire from a 12 volt source like a vehicle battery to apply voltage to all of the wires of your trailer wiring to see what activates. It can help to use masking tape to label them...

  • Which Wire is the Reverse Wire on the 7-Way Molded Trailer End Connector
On the 7-Way Molded Trailer End Connector, # 50-67-106, the reverse light wire is yellow. It is the wire attached to the center pole of the plug.

  • What Wire Gauges does Bargman 7-Way Molded Trailer End Connector and Cabel Use
I spoke with my contact at Bargman and he said the gauges are as follows: Black and White: 10 gague Blue: 12 gauge Brown, Red, Green, Yellow: 14 gauge

  • Blade Style and Round Pin Style Trailer Side 7-Way Connectors
The Bargman 7-Pole, RV-Style Connector, # 50-67-106, is a blade style connector. If you see the term RV style that is usually and indicator that it is a blade style. If you need a 7-Way round pin connector you can use # PK11702. You would need to attach the wires yourself by taking apart the connector to access the location inside where the wires attach.

  • Replacement 7-Way Trailer Connector to Rewire an 18 Foot Gooseneck Trailer
We no longer have the 22 foot. The longest that we have is the 18 foot long Bargman molded 7-way trailer connector, part # 50-67-106, is could be enough for your trailer. It depends on how much, if any, of the existing wire you want to keep and connect to the new harness. If you need to make it longer you can use part # DW04914-1, which is sold by the foot. The wire colors on the 7-way and the extra wire are the same.

  • Recommended Method For Installing Longer 7-way Trailer Connector Harness On Trailer W/ 9' Deck
The best way would be replacing the current 7-way connector at the junction box and installing a longer harness. The junction box should be located not too far behind the coupler of your 2018 Rockwood A-Frame camper and will be on the inside of the A-frame. I recommend going with the 7-Way Molded Connector w/ 18' Cable - Trailer End # 50-67-106 which will be plenty long to clear the 9' deck on your trailer and it can be cut down to the exact length you want/need. Just make sure to not...

  • What Wiring Diagram do You Have for the Hopkins 7-Way # HM40975 on My Ford F-350?
I can definitely help you out with that. On my end, I could not find a Hopkins 7-pin SAE J1128. With that being said, the most common 7-way on your F-350's end will look like the pins on the 7- and 4-Pole Trailer Connector Socket w/ Mounting Bracket - Vehicle End # HM40975. I went ahead and attached a diagram that shows the pin location and functions of each pin. If you need a 7-way on your trailer's side, I recommend the 7-Way Molded Connector w/ 18' Cable - Trailer End # 50-67-106....

  • Replacement Parts Needed To Rewire A 16 Foot Trailer With Electric Brakes
When it comes to replacing your trailer wiring on your 16 foot trailer I recommend The 7-Way Molded Connector w/ 15 foot Cable - Trailer End # 50-67-106 will work. It is 18 foot and the wire gauges are as followed: Black/White - 10 Gauge Blue - 12 Gauge Yellow/Green/Red/Brown - 14 Gauge To make the wiring easier I would also recommend The Trailer Wiring Junction Box # 38656. We also have this cord and connector available in different lengths if 8' doesn't work for you. 4 Foot - Item # H20043 11 Foot - Item # HM20048 18 Foot - Item # 50-67-106

  • Replacement 7-Way Trailer Harness and Brake Controller Installation Kit for 1979 Chevrolet Blazer

Hey Dan I can definitely help with all of this. The # e43SR Trailer Axle that you were looking at comes with electric drum brake assemblies.
