Parts Needed to Rewire Equipment Trailer With Brakes

Question:

I have an early 2000s 18 or 20 equipment trailer with electric brakes. The wiring is all original and the wiring for the brakes is all screwed up and in some sort of sealed tubular connector type things along with the light wiring. I thinking I want to just start fresh. Is there any sort of kit with all of the pieces together such as battery/break away cable, connectors, wires, etc? thank you.

We don't have a full kit but it will be fairly easy to put together. You can start with a new 7-way like the Bargman # 50-67-106. This comes with 18' of cable which will cover your needs for the most part. I also recommend using a junction box like the # 38656 along with ring terminals # 44-5310A and # DW05702-1. This will help keep everything organized.

If you need additional wire to run to the lights you can use # DW02412-1 along with butt connectors # DW05744-10. If you need extra wire for the brakes we have # 12-1-1 along with # DW05745-10. Metal loom clamps # A0250 (1/4") and # A0500 (1/2") will help you secure the wires to the frame of the trailer. The only thing left would be to add in a breakaway kit like # 20400.

I have attached some helpful articles below explaining how to rewire/add a 7-way to a trailer for your reference.
